This exhibition shares Dharug stories of Dyarubbin using oral histories, art & Dharug words, empowering us with a greater understanding of this astonishing landscape & its culture.

Undercurrents considers the agency that bodies of water possess, and the delicate relationship between the Anthropocene and our environments.

This exhibition includes work by Bronwyn Bailey-Charteris, Penelope Cain, Dean Cross, Kalanjay Dhir, Bonita Ely, Maddison Gibbs, Haines & Hinterding, Venessa Possum, Latai Taumoepeau, Andrew Yip and one collaborative artwork made by students of the Painting up Country program, led by Dharug artist Leanne Tobin.

This exhibition features works by Blak Douglas (Adam Hill), Maddison Gibbs, Joy Lai, Jasmine Seymour, Leanne Tobin, Edna Watson, Leanne Mulgo Watson, Erin Wilkins, Jason Wing, Rhiannon and Lyra Wright.

Open Day

Saturday 3 Dec, 10 am - 2 pm Brewshop 10 am - 12 pm Boil, brew, infuse and ingest rainwater collected from the Gallery’s grounds in this performance workshop led by Lleah Smith and Bronwyn Bailey-Charteris.

Talk: Grace Karskens Sunday 29 Jan, 1 - 3 pm

This project is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.

Grace Karskens, Professor Emerita of History, will be talking about the research from the ‘The Real Secret River, Dyarubbin’, collaborative project with Dharug researchers Leanne Mulgo Watson, Jasmine Seymour, Erin Wilkins and Rhiannon Wright.

Official Opening 12 - 2 pm Opening remarks followed by drinks and canapés from Cafe at Lewers.

School Holiday Activities

Featuring Jo Clancy & Wagana Dancers, David Haines & Joyce Hinterding, Aunty Sharyn Halls with Craig Bender & Vera Hong, Sue Healey, Gabriella Hirst, Yvonne Koolmatrie, Rachel O’Reilly, Venessa Possum, Rochelle Summerfield with Tracy Pateman & Will Rodgers, Leanne Tobin and Judy Watson.

Visit the Hub forecourt to see three contemporary First Nations artists illuminate the building with projections exploring the cultural significance of water. Featuring Maddison Gibbs, Shay Jannowi-Jude Tobin and Leanne Mulgo Watson.

River - Cinema Screening

Meet some turtles up close with Turtle Rescues NSW, see presentations from local schools, take part in interactive displays from the BMCC Healthy Waterways Team plus creative activities led by the Blue Mountains Aboriginal Culture Resource Centre. A free family friendly event.

River is a cinematic and musical odyssey that explores the relationship between humans and rivers. This special screening will include a Q&A with some of the creative team behind the documentary.
