BLISS BOULDER BATTLE

Join Outdoor Recreation for the fall bouldering competition! There will be male and female categories, and the top three will receive a prize. The event is SATURDAY, OCT. 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Soldier Activity Center, it is open to the public, ages 18 and older. The cost is $30 for Active-Duty/DoD ID cardholders and $40 for the public. Registration is required and can be done at Soldier Activity Center. For more information, call 915-744-1532.

MONSTER BASH

Join Fort Bliss MWR for the annual Monster Bash celebration! There will be free entertainment, inflatable attractions, crafts and more! There will be food and beverages available for purchase. Monster Bash is FRIDAY, OCT. 20 and SATURDAY OCT. 21 from 5-9 p.m. at Smith-Bliss Field. The event is free to attend and open to the public, all ages are welcome! FORT BLISS SPOOK-A-THON

Run for your life! Join SFA and Youth Sports in their Halloween fun runs! Bring the whole family out for this one day event, SATURDAY, OCT. 21 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Bldg. 12 Pershing Road! There will be two runs happening, the Pumpkin Patch Dash, a one-mile, non-scary run. Then, there’s the Zombie Run on the two-mile course! Tickets are available at active.com, Soto PFC or Youth Sports Plex. Cost for Pumpkin Patch Dash is $10 and includes a finisher’s medal. Zombie Run is $20, includes a T-shirt and a finisher’s medal. Children ages 4 and younger are free to participate in any of the runs, but will not receive a medal or T-shirt. For more information, call 915-744-5798 or 915-568-2617.

DVAM SPEAKER SERIES

This speaker series will help educate senior leaders, DoD employees, and community on how to properly respond to victims of domestic violence and provide an overview of available military and civilian resources. There will be a professional panel of subject matter experts to express their opinions and explore topics of discussion that will foster productive learning and insight. It will be held

STAR MOUNTAIN GYMNASTICS MEET

Come cheer on SKIES Unlimited Gymnastics team

SATURDAY, OCT. 28! Star Mountain Classic is a gymnastics meet for registered SKIES gymnastics students who have memorized and worked on their routines. This in-house competition allows students to demonstrate their skills, in a fun and creative way, to families and friends! The meet will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at SKIES Bldg. #2, located at 131A Doniphan Road. For more information, call 915-568-5544.

NATHANIEL A. LACOUR HALLOWEEN CLASSIC

If you’re interested in playing in the Nathaniel A. LaCour Halloween Classic Tournament, then don’t wait! Registration is happening now! Cost is $150 per team for Active-Duty and $250 per team for all others. Registration is open until Oct. 20 and can be done at Soto PFC. There will be an additional $50 late fee for late registrations. The tournament is FRIDAY, OCT. 27 through SUNDAY, OCT. 29 at Logan Heights Physical Fitness Center (PFC). Friday the games begin at 6 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday games start at 8 a.m. It’s open to the public. For more information, call 915-744-5785.

Hello, Fort Bliss!

My name is Roberto J. Medina, and I am excited about serving alongside you on Fort Bliss. I come here as the new Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (DFMWR) Director; this is my fifth duty station, with 16 years of experience in Family and MWR.

This opportunity humbles me; I have had a fantastic career and take great pride in our mission to support Soldiers and the entire Fort Bliss Community. We want to provide you with the best Quality of Life. I hope to learn from a great group of professionals while adding new ideas and initiatives to support readiness.

Join our Fort Bliss MWR team this month for upcoming events such as Torch Celebration, Monster Bash and Harvest Festival at the Milam Youth Center, to name a few. We aim to provide the events and activities you want and will attend. We have the best MWR programs in the Army!

“It’s Better at Bliss,” is something I stand behind. We have significant initiatives for our Single Soldiers; connect with our BOSS program and tell us how to serve you best!
