The gloves are coming on and the intensity is about to rise as Fort Bliss prepares to host one of the most anticipated sporting events of the summer — the Border Rumble Boxing Event, taking place on Thursday, 25 July at 6:00 PM at Stout Gym. This dynamic event is open exclusively to active-duty service members, giving Soldiers stationed at Fort Bliss the opportunity to showcase their physical prowess, mental toughness, and fighting spirit inside the boxing ring.
The Border Rumble isn’t just about throwing punches — it’s about discipline, endurance, and the warrior ethos. Each bout promises to be a display of grit, resilience, and sportsmanship, with participants competing not only for bragging rights but also to uphold the pride of their units.
Registration is now open for active-duty personnel who wish to compete. Boxers can sign up at Stout Gym anytime leading up to the event, with registration closing promptly at 1:00 PM on July 25. Mandatory weigh-ins for all competitors will also take place on the day of the event, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
While only active-duty service members can compete, the event is free and open to all spectators. Family members, fellow Soldiers, and the Fort Bliss community are encouraged to come out, pack the gym, and cheer on the fighters as they go head-to-head in the ring.
From the opening bell to the final decision, the Border Rumble promises an unforgettable night of adrenaline-pumping action, camaraderie, and esprit de corps. Whether you're a boxing enthusiast or simply looking for an exciting evening on post, this is one event you won't want to miss.
Admission is free, so grab your friends, get loud, and come support your fellow Soldiers at the Border Rumble!

As summer winds down and families settle into a new rhythm, military-connected households across the country are juggling more than just beach days and barbecues. The back-to-school season marks a time of big transitions—especially for those facing a PCS (Permanent Change of Station). For families arriving at Fort Bliss, getting students registered, settled, and socially connected can feel overwhelming. But the good news? El Paso area schools are ready and equipped to welcome incoming students with open arms—and a wealth of opportunities.
Whether your student is just starting kindergarten or preparing for senior year, El Paso school districts offer programs designed to meet every learner’s needs and aspirations. From Dual Language classrooms that nurture bilingual skills, to Early College High Schools where students can earn college credit, there’s something here for every student.
Many campuses also offer Magnet Programs that give teens a head start on future careers in fields like engineering, health sciences, and law. And for families seeking strong academic foundations paired with real-world preparation, each district includes career readiness curriculums that build skills for both college and the workforce.
Gone are the days of long lines and paper forms. Most El Paso-area districts now offer online registration portals that make enrolling students quick and convenient. Here’s where to get started:

Academic transitions are just one part of the equation. The emotional and social impact of leaving friends behind and entering a new environment can be just as challenging for students. That’s where the Youth Sponsorship Program steps in. Many campuses offer this peer-led program to help new students build connections before they even arrive. Youth sponsors offer school tours, answer questions about campus life, and— most importantly—help new students feel seen and supported.
A successful school year often depends on more than just good grades. Here are some essential programs that help military families support their students—academically and emotionally:
Tutor.com for Military Families: Offers free 24/7 online tutoring for eligible students.
Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunities for Military Children: Helps smooth out transitions between states and districts.
Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC): Provides resources and programs to support military-connected students.
Military Kids Connect: Offers age-appropriate content to help children manage the emotional aspects of military life.
Your Local Resource: If you're unsure where to start, have specific questions, or just need guidance, the School Liaison Office at Fort Bliss is your go-to source for everything educationrelated in the El Paso area. From helping you understand curriculum options to athletic eligibility, they’re here to help you and your student succeed. For more helpful information and guidance, call 915-569-5064.
Relocating may never be easy—but with strong support systems, innovative school programs, and a welcoming community, El Paso schools help military families make the most of every move. So, grab those school supply lists, log in to register, and get ready for a year of growth, achievement, and new beginnings.
