To showcase McLaren Vale wines and the region to local, interstate and international markets.

McLaren Vale Wine Show - 2019 Judges Chair of Judges - David LeMire MW David LeMire MW is a wine business professional with experience in retail, distribution, and brand management. A two year stint in London in the mid 90s gave him a ‘eurocentric’ palate, which he further developed in Australia in his roles with Negociants Australia, a leading importer of fine wine to Australia. He has run his own consulting business, has a share of a small wine production business, writes regular columns for Australia’s Wine Business Magazine, is an irregular wine show judge, and is co-convenor of the Australasian Institute of Masters of Wine Educational Seminar.

This was David’s third and final year as our Chair of Judges and we thank him for his commitment and leadership.

International Judge - Sarah Ahmed Sarah Ahmed, The Wine Detective, is an independent, London-based wine writer, educator and judge. A wine tasting course was the catalyst for her re-invention from lawyer to purveyor, raconteur and professional imbiber of wines. She started off her wine career with multi-award winning wine merchants Oddbins in 2000. Since striking out on her own in 2005 as an independent wine writer and educator, Sarah has become an acknowledged authority on the wines of Portugal and Australia.

In 2017 Sarah was awarded the Honorary Australian Woman in Wine 2017 at the Australian Women in Wine Awards.

Being part of the community means bumping into four people you know at the bakery; reading the poster for the lost sausage dog on the noticeboard at the supermarket; volunteering to sell Snakes Alive and cupcakes at the netball canteen; and dressing up as one of the three little pigs in the pageant.
