InfoComm Asia Day 1 - 2025

Page 1

WELCOME TO DAY ONE OF InfoComm Asia, now in its fourth year and its third at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, Bangkok. The show comes hot on the heels of InfoComm in Orlando, and many of the product launches and technological updates debuted there will be unveiled to APAC audiences this week. InfoComm’s strong and growing global presence delivers a seamless and consistent experience, no matter where the shows take place, and it’s becoming easier to experience the best of the industry closer to home. For several years, APAC has been experiencing strong economic growth as companies and governments invest in their infrastructure and rising middle classes become active consumers.

This is boosting the experience economy, fuelled by spending in retail, hospitality, venues and transportation on digital signage and entertainment solutions, each representing additional opportunities for the AV market.

For those of us that have travelled here from overseas, we have the pleasure of being in one of Asia’s most dynamic and inspiring cities. InfoComm Asia takes place right in the heart of Bangkok which, as a hub of innovation, culture and commerce, provides the perfect backdrop for exploring real-world professional audiovisual and integrated experience solutions. Over the next few days, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, discover cutting-edge technologies

and gain insights that will shape the way we communicate, collaborate and create. Whether you’re here to explore new partnerships, experience live demonstrations or learn from expert-led sessions, InfoComm Asia promises a world-class experience.

Beyond the show floor, take time to explore Bangkok’s rich heritage, from its iconic temples and riverfront markets to its vibrant street food and nightlife. We’re confident that the energy of this incredible city will match the excitement of the event. So, here’s wishing you a very warm to InfoComm Asia – and welcome to Bangkok!

WELCOME TO THE HEART OF INNOVATION

Welcome to InfoComm Asia 2025—the essential gathering for Asia’s professional AV community, where we connect, learn, and shape the future of our industry.

This year, the show is anchored by a central theme of Artificial Intelligence. From brand-new Summit sessions to the technology on the show floor, you will see how AI’s real-world impact is transforming the way we design and deliver AV solutions.

To master these new technologies, we are committed to elevating the region’s technical expertise. Hands-on learning is a key part of this year’s agenda, with Day 3 of the show packed explicitly with technical workshops and solution-led sessions.

Beyond the classroom, we are bringing you closer to the technology than ever before. For the first time, leading brands like NEAT and Harman are hosting dedicated demo rooms. In addition, our signature experiential Tech

Tours will take attendees behind the scenes of real-world immersive environments, from virtual production studio to immersive nightclub powered by dynamic visual displays and advanced audio systems. Ultimately, InfoComm Asia is about making meaningful connections. This year, we are bringing our online conversations to life with AVIXA Xchange LIVE on the show floor, featuring meetups for the AVIXA Women’s Council, Rising Professionals, and more. Whether in these groups or at our new Welcome Networking Event, this is your space to spark collaboration and share knowledge.

Thank you to all our exhibitors, speakers, partners, and you, our delegates, for being part of this vibrant community. It is my pleasure to welcome you. Let’s make great connections and drive the future of Pro AV— together.

Mastering the art

Phil Ward looks at how multimedia AV is transforming the display of art, adding another market sector to the industry

SEBASTIAN KANABAR IS

Brompton Technology’s head of sales for APAC. Recently, he announced the company’s main priority for 2025, and it resonates strongly. It is, he said, “pushing LED into newer markets – markets traditionally served by projection or LCD technologies”. Not only does this have a direct influence on how reproduced art is displayed in galleries created for it, it’s the exact equivalent of what’s happening with audio: a wholesale upgrade in terms of resolution, flexibility and market reach. One of the most fruitful destinations at the moment is the arts sector. This business is booming, from London to Hong Kong, the new approach of galleries is to go multimedia, combining audio and video. Technology is penetrating the spaces previously considered sacrosanct worldwide, and the aim appears to be to breathe life into the static medium of paint, graphics and projection for the basic goal of attracting more visitors. Moving pictures, with

sound, is turning art into a new kind of cinema.

Purpose-built venues are being constructed for this new wave of art exhibitions, or a meaningful space co-opted, making full use of the location. Amsterdam’s 17th-century Noorderkerk recently displayed a 360° “world of colours” with 38 Digital Projection projectors to show how

Rembrandt inspired Vincent van Gogh. This used 12 Fohhn Audio DLI-130 beam steering active column speakers and five Fohhn AS-06 ASX subwoofers to carry an audio narrative. In Hong Kong’s Xiqu Centre, a temporary gallery has been showing the works of French impressionist Claude Monet using video mapping onto a large 360° digital canvas; the accompanying soundtrack was composed, produced and performed by a group called Echo Collective via a 7.1 surround audio installation.

Meanwhile L-Acoustics, home of the L - ISA Immer sive Hyperreal Sound solution, specifically calls its applications “Art for Your Ears” while “bringing concert sound into any space” –including, in one instance, a shopping mall. Digital art in the Haikou International Duty-Free City Shopping Complex in China is dynamically charged by audio via several compact Kara, X12 and X8 loudspeakers spread across five atrium floors. Some venues are using networked AV

and steerable loudspeakers to minimise reflections: 16 Bosch LA3-Vari-BH steerable active column speakers with DSP are helping not to disturb the royal mummies at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo, backed by Dynacord DSA amps and a Q-SYS Core 510i processor.

Currently, two successful exhibitions in London reveal the sophistication of the sound and projection design driving this market forward. Budgets are being stretched to accommodate leading consultants and engineers, confirming the confidence in the business and the ambition of the aesthetics. London’s Lightroom is a fourstorey venue that uses spatial audio via two Holoplot X1 Matrix Arrays and their carefully placed reflector panels, with input from leading sound designer Gareth Fry and lighting ace Ben Pearcy: sound, lighting and video are all three-dimensional. This was joined in 2023 by Lightroom Seoul, a new immersive exhibition

space developed by Lightroom London in partnership with Korean NFT art platform, Etnah Company. Back in London, Frameless is a kinetic display of famous works from the Renaissance to Kandinsky that uses, fittingly enough, the interior dimensions of a former West End cinema. This, too, has spatial audio, courtesy of EM Acoustics’ EMS-41 2-way passive coaxial speakers and TiMax panLab spatial audio mixing software.

Directional Audio is a relatively new specialist in this field, with UK clients including Tate Modern, the Eden Project, the Wellcome Trust and even Banksy’s esoteric displays at the Walled Off Hotel, Bethlehem. The range now includes ultrasonic and dome speakers, sound “showers”, directional soundbars and overhead arrays, all of which disperse audio with pinpoint accuracy. MD James Hunter says “directional” (with a small “d”) sound is growing rapidly enough for it to be his new priority. “It concentrates audio exactly where you need it,” he explains, “but is much more affordable than beam steering, spatial audio or similar. It’s for focusing on individual people or, at the most, small groups – which is why we’re picking up more and more work in the art space.”

Dr Alison Eardley, senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Westminster in London, has been awarded a grant jointly funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the National Endowment for Humanities (US)

to research how inclusive digital museum audio might transform the visitor experience for everyone. One project is developing the idea of the Sensational Museum, which also asks how access provision for non-normative visitors –audio description, British Sign Language (BSL), audio guides, interactive content – can be redesigned so that it can benefit all museum audiences. Part of it is looking at the collections themselves and how they can be more multisensory, especially using sound. “Sound can be the exhibit in itself, rather than just a photograph or written description,” Eardley says. “Many collection objects have sound properties that can be exploited to add meaning and to enrich the experience.”

Most of all, the market is now rich enough to sustain full-time AV managers at the highest level of institutions. Tate Britain and Tate Modern are venerated fixtures on the London scene, and Dan Crompton is the AV services manager. “Everybody talks about ‘the visual arts’ but it’s really ‘the audiovisual arts’,” he says. “It has an impact on what we do: paintings on walls have enormous visual power but step away and you don’t know they’re there. A work with sound, however – and I’ve done many tests – can be heard a minimum of three galleries away. Curatorship now has to take account of this.”

What are the key trends you’re currently seeing in the industry?

e’re seeing two major trends at the moment. The first is the interactive immersive exhibits that we are seeing in Southeast Asia and Taiwan. These shows are often related to popular Hollywood characters or key historical figures and we’re seeing an increasing number of these edutainment exhibits in the entertainment sector as well as in the cultural sector such as museums who are looking to attract the tourist dollar. The other trend we’re seeing is the increasing demand for projection mapping. This demand is being fuelled by governments wanting to celebrate national events or anniversaries, for example projection mapping onto a big monument always attracts lots of interest and more tourists to the city. With the advancements in projection technology, these events are becoming more affordable.

How have you adapted your technology to these new trends?

We always strive to be the leader in immersive environments and projection technology. We have a powerful media server to map content onto any 3D surface – like a statue or a building – and it can integrate with all the interactive sensors that you find in immersive environments. It also has a show control so you can run different content at different times without having to change the settings manually. We also have a wide range of projectors, from 1DLP to 3DLP. In immersive spaces, projectors sometimes need to be very close to the screen and hidden from visitors who are walking around, so our ultra-short-throw lenses provide this close-up projection without casting shadows. We also have accessories that can seamlessly deliver content from the media server to the projector. We have a design team that works out what type of projector to use and what brightness, so customers appreciate this level of service we can provide. We have 50,000-lumen projectors which are really important for outdoor settings as you’re fighting with the ambient lighting. Our Mystique auto alignment software can align multiple projectors in minutes rather than hours and, if the image has shifted, it’s just a few button clicks and you’re back to the original setting.

Why is InfoComm Asia important for Christie?

It’s a great show to connect with our end users, systems integrators and consultants in the region. We also use the opportunity to have a dinner with our partners to show our appreciation.

What challenges are you currently facing?

Most manufacturers are facing the challenge of projectors and applications becoming more specialised. The demand for projectors in meeting rooms and boardrooms is decreasing as companies are focusing more on flat panel or LED displays so how do we differentiate ourselves in a market that is flooded with so many choices? Our response is develop unique products like our LED controller so that we can be flexible and play to our strengths.

Why

is it

important for you to exhibit at InfoComm Asia?

We have key partners and customers in Thailand that like to see our new products, our innovations and our software solutions. We are focusing this year on our new products that have been specifically designed to be simple to use, set up and commission.

What are the current key trends in the AV industry?

We are seeing a move towards products that are easy to use and set up, as well as cloud monitoring and AV-over-IP technologies.

What will you be showing on your booth this year?

We will be showcasing our ControlSpace Cloud which is a cloud-based monitoring software solution, along with our Veritas amplifiers with Bluetooth connectivity that have easy access via the OLED display and this allows installers to access the presets and EQ in the amplifier itself so they’re easy to set up and configure. Our EdgeMax loudspeakers with PhaseGuide provide a consistent horizontal dispersion so that a single speaker is suitable for a room of up to 6m deep. A low-profile version has also been developed for spaces with limited ceiling heights. We will also be highlighting our installation-friendly Lyric loudspeakers that are available in 8- and 12-inch versions with a built-in waveguide.

Bose Professional Celebrates Independence and Innovation at InfoComm Asia 2025

On display will be their best-selling hardware and software solutions, including the acclaimed Veritas line of smart mixer amplifiers and the new Forum series of performance loudspeakers. Veritas, winner of Best New Audio Product and Best of Show at ISE 2025, offers outstanding clarity and intuitive control for background music, paging, and multimedia. The compact Forum series delivers powerful output and high fidelity—setting new benchmarks for its size and price.

Visitors will also get an exclusive preview of the upcoming DesignMax Luna DML88P pendant loudspeaker system. Designed for open-ceiling spaces, Luna offers rich, clear sound down to 40 Hz with full 360° coverage. Its sleek look and innovative ring-array design make it ideal for retail, hospitality, and fitness environments—delivering more with fewer speakers.

How is the pro AV market changing at the moment?

We’re seeing three trends emerging right now: hybrid work and smart meetings, immersive experiences and finally AV-over-IP and remote control. People are looking for smart, connected and flexible AV solutions that are easy to manage and can fit into any type of space. So we are taking all of our AV products and bringing them together to create a complete AV solution for customers. We work with strong brands like NEXO, DiGiCo and Quest Engineering to create immersive experiences that are suitable for a variety of settings such as small events or large concerts. Genelec also offers high-quality studio sound and we also work with Taiden for smart meetings and smart education along with video distribution and smart control.

What will you be showcasing on your booth?

This year, we’re going to be showing how Symetrix, Blustream, RTI and Taiden products can be brought together to provide a complete and flexible solution for a smart meeting room, regardless of its size. We’ll also be showing the new NEXO DME10 immersive audio processor and new launches from Quest Engineering and Fourier Audio which has just launched the transform.suite ‘25, along with solutions from RTI, Blustream and Taiden. We will have a fully integrated AV experience where visitors can hear our products and see how they can work together.

Why is it important for you to exhibit at InfoComm?

The reason why we have come back again this year is that we want to support our brands and suppliers and keep up to date with new technologies. We want to show our products to the markets in Thailand and Asia and welcome back our existing customers – it’s a great platform to showcase all our brands in one place but it’s also a great place to welcome new people who aren’t aware of our brands so they can get to know us better. We want to show people that we don’t just sell products – visitors can meet each brand’s technical team so they can see how we will support them with the solutions that we create.

What has been the biggest development for you since the last InfoComm Asia?

The biggest development for us has been the launch of our ARCHI and BASSO series subwoofers, which we created in direct response to a shift in music played across modern public spaces. Where background music used to peak around 65Hz with pop and rock, today’s environments are dominated by more bass-heavy genres such as EDM. This transition isn’t limited to clubs; it’s happening in hotel lobbies, restaurants, gyms and retail stores. These genres push much deeper into the frequency spectrum, demanding subwoofers that can reproduce infra-sub frequencies down to 20Hz with clarity and control. With ARCHI, we’re delivering that performance in a sleek, architectural form factor that blends into refined interiors. BASSO, in turn, is built for high-impact use, combining robust build quality with precision infra-sub performance to meets the demands of modern music, even in outdoor or high SPL environments. Together, these series have been designed to bring low-frequency audio in line with today’s listening expectations.

What will be the highlight on your booth this year?

In addition to showcasing the ARCHI and BASSO series, we’re proud to host the world premiere of a brand-new compact, high-output loudspeaker on the booth. Designed for fixed installations that demand powerful, full-range sound in a space-saving form factor, the solution is ideal for applications such as bars, retail and conference spaces, offering a balance between performance and discretion. The official launch event will take place at our booth L16 on Wednesday 23 July at 11:30am, where we invite visitors to get an exclusive first look at this exciting new addition to our loudspeaker lineup.

What sets your technology apart from others in the market?

What sets us apart is our Atellio product family that brings together networked audio, flexible control and modular hardware in a way that’s truly integrator focused. Atellio is more than just Dante-enabled –it’s designed from the ground up to make scalable, multizone audio systems easier to deploy, manage and adapt. With full integration into AUDAC Touch, users gain central control from any device, without needing complex programming or third-party systems. Installers benefit from faster setup times, simplified system expansion and real-time visibility over every connected component. Whether it’s a single meeting room or a campus-wide installation, Atellio offers a futureproof backbone that evolves with the needs of the project. The result is a smarter audio infrastructure that reduces cost and complexity while delivering a seamless experience for both users and technicians.

The best of Bangkok

Pro AVL Asia editor Caroline Moss talks to Sonos Libra’s Alfonso Martín about why he relocated to Bangkok 12 years ago

ALFONSO MARTÍN, WHO HAILS from Toledo in Spain, has been calling Bangkok home since February 2013. Having worked in pro AV since he was 14 years old, assisting on small gigs with a local rental company, he moved into TV and broadcast design and acoustic consultancy after finishing a BEng degree in telecoms, specialising in sound and acoustics. Martín has also worked for large rental companies as a chief engineer, for Spanish speaker manufacturer Amate Audio and now runs distribution company, Sonos Libra.

“I was travelling to Asia quite often with my job as product application engineer at Amate Audio and I could see how different things were on this side of the world at all levels,” he explains about his decision to relocate permanently. “From a professional angle in particular, I

could see how many opportunities for self- and market development there were in Thailand in general, and in Southeast Asia specifically. At the same time, I met my other half during a Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt and, a year later, I got a very good offer to work for a distribution company.” This was the now-defunct One Systems Global and, in 2017, Martín founded Sonos Libra and later on Aura Visual System together with Vanessa, his partner in life and business.

“It’s easy to move around the region despite living in different countries, and to travel back to Europe or America,” he says. “In general, life in Thailand is very good due to the kindness of the Thai people and its spectacular nature and wildlife.”

also treated Martín well, and he describes settling into the closeknit community. “During my first two years here, it was important to introduce myself to all the relevant and senior players and demonstrate my goodwill,” he explains. “I believe that as a foreigner, I have to give back as much as I can without asking anything in return. I’ve conducted plenty of training and educational programmes with very little or no charge for many years, and that’s one of my personal contributions to the AV market here.”

Notable AV projects that Sonos Libra has completed in Bangkok include the Thai Cultural Centre, the Sala Suryadhep Auditorium at Rangsit University, the Kimpton MaaLai Hotel, the headquarters of energy company PTT, RIM rooftop dining and bar, and several clubs including Baccarat and MUIN.

Martín’s tips for navigating Bangkok during the July rainy season include ditching shoes in favour of a good pair of rubber flip flops or sliders and packing a raincoat. He also advises against attempting to enter Sukhumvit Road between 8–10am

recommending a visit to Chinatown, home to some cool coffee shops and restaurants.

But he has a final word of caution for anyone attempting to practise their language skills in the capital. “While learning Thai, I’ve made some mistakes while speaking,” he admits, alluding to the language’s tone-based characteristics. “If you’re not careful with the tones, you can be talking about a banana or something really quite rude at the same time – which is awkward for the audience…”

You have been warned.

What technologies are currently shaping the pro AV industry?

We’re way beyond the IT revolution now and living on converged networks and having everything over IP arrived a long time ago, so AV-over IP is a big focus for us. Plus we’re focusing on maintaining standards and making sure that we’re conforming to commonly used standards in the industry and also that we’re using commonly used programming languages and moving away from customers having to use an AMX program for an AMX device. It means that software as a differentiator is a very important part of what we’re doing as we evolve our AV-over-IP portfolio.

How are Harman’s technologies meeting these demands?

We’re excited about OMNI which is the recently launched BSS platform – this is the first of our new DSP platforms with more to come in the future. It’s a convergence of our audio and video portfolios and what glues that together is our new AVX software suite and HControl which is a new control protocol. HControl unifies everything – whether it’s AMX, BSS, Crown or JBL so all new products from Harman will have HControl and the AVX suite.

What can visitors see on your booth at InfoComm Asia 2025?

OMNI will be a big focus as well as the AVX suite and the unification of our different brands. We have our brands and they all work in their own space, but we want to emphasise that these platforms have been designed to work together as a unified solution. We also acquired Flux:: a little while ago which has really catapulted us into the world of immersive experiences and it’s such a great creative tool for mixing and creating content. It’ll bring us into all kinds of conversations with consultants, creatives and end users that we wouldn’t have been having before and it’ll be interesting to see where it leads us in the future.

Why is InfoComm Asia such an important meeting point?

For us, it’s a great platform and meeting point for both existing and new customers. Last year we had our products on the booth but also a consultant experience that we scheduled around the show, so this year we’re doing some Flux:: demos and putting together a whole programme of events to engage with existing customers but also looking at how we can strengthen some end user relationships. We’re also refreshing a lot of our installed audio products so the show will be an important opportunity to highlight this evolution.

Why

do you exhibit at InfoComm

Asia?

We recently held a partner event in Singapore and it’s these types of events and tradeshows like InfoComm Asia that are really important for customer engagement. We need to look at how we reach our customers and how we can have that regular contact with them. It’s also important to have a view of the market so we can understand their needs. Bangkok is a great opportunity to connect with the industry and connect with customers.

What trends are you currently seeing in the pro AV market?

Technology is moving even faster than in Covid times and we’re seeing an increasing amount of product innovations over the last few years. Performance, quality and reliability are key for the AV industry. One of the trends we’re seeing is for mobile applications and cloud-based intercoms. AV-over-IP is also increasing in popularity. We’re proud to be the distributor of leading brands such as Analog Way, Christie, Clear-Com and Netgear.

What products will you be highlighting on your booth?

We’re seeing an increasing demand for large LED displays at concerts and Aquilon Cmax is Analog Way’s flagship solution and has been designed for flexibility and efficiency. Clear-Com has a wide range of intercom products including wired, wireless, metric, IP and cloud-based solutions. Its Agent-IC and Gen-IC products provide high flexibility and reliability, and support today’s demands for remote production. Netgear can help solve the challenges of multiple audio, video and lighting protocols currently on the market by working with hundreds of manufacturers and testing the compatibility of products for customers’ needs. Netgear products allow users to combine audio, video, lighting, control and data within one network. Christie provides a wide range of projectors from simple to budget-friendly to high-end, interactive, RGB laser-based technology. We look forward to seeing you on our booth.

A new phase for AV

WE ARE AT AN INFLECTION point with pro AV. For several years, the prevailing theme has been recovery. Revenues were decimated across the industry as a result of the pandemic, so growth was a given as the underlying segments bounced back. That has played out now, pretty much no matter where in the world you are, and instead we are talking about a new phase, driven by some lasting themes that solidified during the recovery period.

Fortunately, one thing we leave behind are supply chain issues. Difficulty getting product had dominated headlines and business challenge lists over the past few years. AVIXA’s data showed this via a monthly business index survey that had supply constraints as the top challenge facing AV solutions providers from 2022 through late 2023. Essentially, many products were in short supply or had long lead times, meaning project work could not get completed. This has abated, as the industry adapted its sourcing and logistics structure, with distributors playing a large role in the fix. Instead, we return to the more consistent issue of human capital constraints or simply finding people to do the work – an issue facing just about every industry requiring creativity across the globe as companies look to hire and retain top talent.

is revenue growth for solutions providers and the industry.

Here’s where one of the primary driving themes comes into play. While talent is generally in short supply, pro AV has a nearby adjacent market that has often been a source for skilled

professionals and is now facing challenges. I’m speaking here of the broadcast industry, where traditional business models and modes of distribution have been increasingly threatened by alternative sources. At the same time (and perhaps contributing to the issue), more and more enterprises around the world are setting up their own content production capabilities to engage customers and audiences on social media platforms. Pro AV is benefitting from this as these companies look to build out their capabilities with a tech stack, creating an opportunity for related talent to shift over from broadcasting into what AVIXA has called broadcast AV. The net here

In just about all corners of the world, you can see examples of that theme in many verticals, such as hospitality, retail and venues. It’s also a part of the larger hybrid work phenomenon that has also driven investments in technology to support distributed workforces. Many companies will use larger corporate events, like all-staff meetings, as an opportunity to capture content for redistribution. This requires more than just an effective use of collaboration platforms and brings in some broadcasting kit and capabilities. It’s an extension of the traditional conferencing and collaboration solutions integrators may have provided in the past. It’s also a welcome development as many buyers shift to lower-cost systems to support scalable deployment of conferencing solutions across their organisations. AVoIP and AI also help to boost the feasibility and potential for managed service offerings. This makes it a good time to be an integrator, despite perhaps some other economic headwinds. There is further nuance to the types of solutions that are driving growth within the top markets. Certainly, collaboration technologies in use by corporate enterprises is a strong component. But so too are security and surveillance solutions as countries invest in smart cities and/or military. Each of these are symptoms of the strong economic growth of the countries as companies and governments

invest in their infrastructure. Another symptom is a rising middle class who then become active consumers. This appears in the form of an experience economy, fueled by spending in retail, hospitality, venues and transportation with digital signage and entertainment solutions. Each of those represent additional opportunities for AV utilisation, fuelling the growth of the solutions provider market with what are often higher margin projects. It’s also the driver AVIXA expects will represent the most long-term viable tailwind for the pro AV industry at large, even as other sectors shift a bit more to a volume mode.

The move to scalability and volume in some traditional AV markets, both in APAC and around the world, is at the core of the inflection point moment. While pro AV had been driven by corporate conferencing and higher education learning solutions, particularly during the pandemic period, the key drivers are shifting. Instead of being mostly about corporate boardrooms or college classrooms, AV has fortunately become so much more. It is now an intrinsic part of the experiences we engage in for entertainment and enjoyment. Concerts, museums, stadiums, events, theme parks, cinemas and even stores are all examples of the emerging canvas for the art that is AV. One could say, perhaps even this represents a golden age. May it be so!
