Hypnotic Chandelier I nstallat ion at D istor t ion fest ival

Location:

Reffen, Copenhagen, Denmark Awards: Darc Awards shortlis 2023 Group work Concept: The Bottled Symphony, a captivating lighting installation that has been exhibited in 3 danish festivals namely Copenhagen Light Festival 2024, Distortion Music Festival 2023 and Karrusel music festival. This sustainable lightpiece is made of 500 recycled plastic bottles and 7 rows of LED strips, serving as a powerful symbol of environmental consciousness. not only the material but also the way we presented the work is sustainable as we exhibited it on 3 different festivals , so far to popularize with reusable art pieces. As night falls, the installation becomes a vibrant meeting point where people gather, dance, and immerse Rendered and modeled in 3ds max+ Corona Renderer

themselves in the pulsating rhythm of the festival, creating an enchanting spectacle beneath its radiant glow.

M aterials & Process :

The chandelier creation began with brainstorming and Rhino modeling for the structural design, followed by rendering in 3ds Max with Corona. In Copenhagen, 500 recycled bottles were collected from recycling centers. Seven rows were crafted using PVC pipes, with caps securely screwed onto them.

Metal ropes were employed to connect the rows, forming a telescopic structure for convenient storage. The final touch involved programming addressable LEDs using a combination of Arduino and Raspberry Pi technology.

Refraction

The photos show the process of making the structure, connecting bottles to PVC pipes and prototyping. The structre was changed later to metal ropes due to the safety issues.

Urban lighting for gathering people G r o u p Wo r k

Location: Denmark,Copenhagen , Valby Tingsted

«By the fire›s glow, souls unite, beneath a canopy of stars, weaving shared dreams.»

Concept: This project celebrates the tradition of gathering under the night sky. Inspired by our ancestors sitting around bonfires, we want to blend history with modern design. Lipscomb called the night sky ‹the world›s oldest natural resource,› and it›s our muse. Our lighting design isn›t just about function – it›s about telling stories under the stars. We›re committed to keeping the night sky special. We stick to a warm glow with a color temperature no higher than 3000 k Following the Dark Sky Approved Lighting program.we used this concept to design a lighting that can motivate people to stay longer in this square..

Concept & Problem statement: Based on the observations of light and people activities, we found the less used spot in the square at night and decided to turn this weakpoint to an strength with designing a lighting that is darsk sky friendly &gathers people

The diagrams show the analysis of the site from different points of view including functional, historical , puplic private zones and materials used on this location. also the most crwoded spots were spotted based on onsite observations made onsite.
