Introduction

Our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think” — Ephesians 3:20. We at Emmanuel Deliverance Temple Spiritual Baptist Church believe that once we call on God by the only name that is Jesus Christ, he can ‘Break every chain that bind you’. If we seek and pray God and give Him our best, He will honor that and will set us free.

The goal of the fast is not just for your chains to be broken by day 40; but to seek God and know what He wants and what His will is for us as individual. We must also believe that God is more than able once we ask in faith through Jesus Christ, what we ask of him he will grant. We would also want to see you establish a prayer habit, so you are still praying even after these 40 days fast is over.

The Bible also mentioned about what happened in 40 days.

It rained for 40 days and 40 nights during the Flood which cleansed and purified the ancient world. (Genesis 7:12)

Moses was on Mount Sinai for 40 days and 40 nights praying and fasting before receiving the 10 Commandments.

Jesus was also in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights praying before entering into full time ministry.

This journey will not be easy but if you press into God’s presence like never before, He will take you into a level of intimacy you have never been before; you will be tested but will be transformed, the ‘You’ before this 40 days Prayer and Fasting will not be the ‘You’ after these 40 days.

I encourage you to keep a journal for this fast so you can look back on your notes, vision, specific prayers and whatever the Holy Spirit lays on your heart daily. Trust God to answer as we are praying in one accord on our daily corporate prayer. Make sure you set your clocks earlier to wake up and make time for quiet time in the evenings for prayer

I believe that the 40 Day Prayer and Fasting will open the gates of heaven wide open. I believe that your chains are being broken from the first day you set your mind to pray and fast. I believe that God will cause miracles and breakthroughs like those that we have never seen before.

It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit will speak to you daily and that your prayer life will be enriched, and God will work in you and through you in new and marvelous ways. I Thank you for taking this journey with us. God changes lives in 40 Days, I believe yours will be next?

But still we suffer public disgrace because we have been unfaithful and have sinned against you. This includes all of us, both far and near – the people of Judah, Jerusalem, and Israel, as well as those you dragged away to foreign lands, and even our kings, our officials, and our ancestors. Day 37

April 4,

Tuesday Focus: Pray for Spiritual Wisdom and Revelation. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see Him more clearly and your ears to hear anything He desires to speak.

Scripture: Ephesians 1:17-18 (NIV) – “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people…”

Colossians 1:9-12 (NIV) – “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives…”

Philippians 3:10 (AMP) – “And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]…”

I John 5:20 (NLT) – And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.

Day 38

April 5,

Wednesday Focus: Invite the Lord to visit your family (spouse, children, grandchildren, parents, siblings, etc.) in a fresh new way during this season of ministry. Thank God that your family and close friends will encounter the holiness and sovereign power of God that will leave each one changed by His presence and more committed to His kingdom.

Scripture: Psalm 78:4-7 (NLT) – We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders. For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them – even the children not yet born – and they in turn will teach their own children. So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.

Psalm 145:11-13 (NLT) – They will speak of the glory of your kingdom; they will give examples of your power. They will tell about your mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of your reign. For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations.

Joel 2:28, 29 (NASB) - “It will come about after this that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will have dreams, your young men will see visions. And even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.”

Day 39

April 6,

Psalm 37:23 (NASB) – The steps of a man are established by the LORD, and He delights in his way.
