Excellence: Our Goal
At Bishop Miege, we are blessed with students who come from 67 zip codes across the city. We pride ourselves on building faith each day, expanding minds with our excellent academic programs, serving others and enriching lives outside the classroom.

• Faith: All-School Mass with our Chaplain, Father Andrew Strobl, Class of 2000
• Academics: Students in Introduction to Engineering Design build CO-powered cars — small race cars that shoot down a track using the burst of pressurized gas released from cartridges.
• Service: Herd members plant flower beds in the community as part of Miege’s Mary Perrini Service Day.
• Athletics: Cheerleaders lead the crowd in a Friday pep assembly.
“ Bishop Miege is definitely the most welcoming community that I’ve ever been a part of. It doesn’t matter if you’re a freshman or a senior, you can still be friends, and they’ll still help you with anything that you need. All the teachers are so welcoming, and they really invest in your lives for more than just school so that they can help you as a student and personally in your education.” - Caroline Gibson

BUILD YOUR FAITH
How do we live out our faith at Miege?
Jesus is the center of our school. We want to reach every student who walks through our doors.
“We always pray to encourage the Holy Spirit to come down on us, to influence us and help us make good choices. I feel a sense of security knowing that I am united in Christ. Just by being there in the presence of Him, He really flows through me whenever I pray silently.“
- Ivan Baca
There are many opportunities to encounter Jesus, the Living God, at Bishop Miege:
Our goal is to help every single student grow closer to Jesus throughout high school, building a foundation for life.
Bishop Miege
This school year marks 10 years of (PLTW) Project Lead the Way at Bishop Miege.
This year’s highlights show why our PLTW programs are growing fast:
Biomedical Science: Expanded to include the third-year course, Medical Interventions, with students in this pathway earning top scores on end-of-course and ACT exams
28% 32% 50%+ increase in overall PLTW enrollment increase in Computer Science pathway with a large increase of female participation
surge in Engineering advanced-level courses, creating the largest participation in the upper courses in our decade of PLTW
EXPAND YOUR MIND
Rooted in faith and driven by innovation, our PLTW programs offer more than hands-on learning. They empower students to explore the world through a lens of purpose, curiosity, and service. Whether designing solutions to real-world challenges or preparing for college and careers, Stags are growing as thinkers, leaders, and people of character who are ready to make a difference.
For the first time in school history, Bishop Miege has been named one of the seven PLTW Distinguished School’s in Kansas for 2024–25. This recognition celebrates our commitment to expanding access and achievement across our three PLTW pathways: Computer Science, Biomedical Science, and Engineering.
“The Project Studio and PLTW program here at Miege do an amazing job bolstering our students’ confidence and ability to integrate diverse concepts, tools, and skills to solve problems. I have had many alumni share with me how well their time in Miege’s PLTW program prepared them for the rigors of engineering degrees, internships, and even jobs.”
- JC Clark, PLTW Director
21st-Century Learning
Joseph Michael Pedrotti Innovation Center
The Joseph Michael Pedrotti Innovation Center contains learning spaces equipped with state-of-the-art tools and technology, including 3D printers and laser cutters. There are two separate spaces: a Project Studio and an Engineering Lab. Students utilize the two areas for academic investigations to create products and solutions not possible within a traditional classroom.
The Project Studio hosts classes from all subjects, especially giving an opportunity for all students to utilize the tools in the space. Tangible products allow students to deepen and enrich their learning across disciplines.

ACADEMIC SUCCESS
College Credit Earned by Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment
With one of the most extensive dual enrollment programs in the metro area, students have access to 30 different college-level courses, allowing them to explore their academic interests before graduation.
The average enrollee earns between 20-40 hours, and some even graduate with as many as 60.
That’s the equivalent of completing one to two full years of college before even stepping onto campus. This not only reduces tuition costs but also opens the door for students to graduate earlier, save on living expenses, and begin their careers sooner.
Estimated Annual Savings by Type of University:
• In-State Public: $27,146
• Out-of-State Public: $45,708
• Private University: $56,628
*These numbers from the Education Data Initiative are the cost of attendance, which refers to the total cost of tuition and fees, books and supplies, as well as room and board.
Katherine McGee, Class of 2026, is on track to graduate with 37 dual enrollment college credits
“As I’ve started applying to colleges, I’ve realized how beneficial Miege’s dual enrollment program has been. Many of my general education requirements are already completed. I can now focus more on classes related to my major, explore internships, or even graduate early.”
Supporting Our Students
In addition to our academic excellence, Miege offers support with:
• Peer Mentor Program – Trained peer mentors assisting in classes to support all students
• Math Hub & Writing Lab – Dedicated instructors available throughout the day to strengthen academic skills
• Social & Emotional Counselor – Licensed professional counselor providing support for students’ well-being
• Guidance Counselors – Three counselors offering personalized guidance for academic planning and beyond
• CARE Team – Community-based team ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for all students
Faith • Community • Service
“Bishop Miege prioritizes two things that I really prioritize in my own life: faith and community.”
- Mary Aguilera
ENRICH YOUR LIFE
HERD & FAITH FAMILY
One of the special gifts at Bishop Miege is our Herd system. Each student is placed in a multi-grade level Faith Family, which is one of eight larger Herds. Student leadership is a central focus with each Herd having an elected Executive Captain to lead the Herd with four Faith Family captains.
THREE CORE VALUES: - FAITH -
Growing a relationship with Jesus Christ - COMMUNITY -
Finding Christ in one another - SERVICE -
Serving Christ by serving others
EXCELLENCE OUR GOAL, SUCCESS OUR TRADITION
What makes us the #1 Catholic High School in Kansas?
At Bishop Miege, our students and teachers set the standard for excellence. Their drive, creativity, and leadership are reflected in the many awards and recognitions they earn each year. Their success speaks to a culture where students are inspired to make a lasting impact. Excellence isn’t just celebrated here — it’s lived every day.
Design - At the Ace Mentors design competition, our team earned the Design Creativity Award for best architectural design among teams from schools across the KC metro.
Robotics - At the Greater Kansas City Regional, the team was recognized with the prestigious Creativity Award for the robot’s innovative dual-shooter scoring system. This marks only the second robot-specific award in team history, a huge achievement for the team.
Since the 2020-2021 school year, we were the only private school and one of only six schools in Kansas that was a KSHSAA performing arts school of excellence four years in a row.
Journalism - Our yearbook earned a Pacemaker Finalist award for the first time in school history as one of the top 47 yearbooks in the country.
For the third year in a row, the 3A-4A Student Journalist of the Year was a Stag with newspaper editor-in-chief Elaina Gibson earning this prestigious award.
Fine Arts - At the Archbishop’s Invitational High School Art Exhibit, sophomore Mary Alice Solano, won 1st place with the Archbishop’s Award — the top honor of the show — for her piece, “Finally.”
Debate & Forensics - Six of our Miege Debate & Forensics students earned the National Speech & Debate Association Academic All-American award, which was the most we’ve had in one year in almost 20 years.
Foreign Language - In our pilot year, seven students in French IV–VI earned the Kansas Seal of Biliteracy, a distinction recognizing high school graduates who have achieved proficiency in English and another language.
For the first time ever, we brought home a Blue Star Award for Design for hair and makeup design for our fall musical, “She Loves Me.” This marks our fourth Blue Star win in just three years among 66 participating schools.
