BIOMASA Association of Legal Entities BIOMASA, Association of Legal Entities is a nonprofit organization, associating 19 members especially from municipalities, towns, schools and health care institutions.

BIOMASA is mainly active in Zilina region and Trencin region. The representatives of BIOMASA are discussing the biomass relating issues since the beginning of 1990s.

Since its establishment, in 1999, it has been on a rise to become the leader in biomass sphere in Slovakia.

BIOMASA is the biggest and most reliable producer of high-quality wood pellets in Slovakia. Annual production of the pellets is more than 12 000 tones. It is engaged in production and distribution of the heat and covers affordable heating of the public buildings that are administrated by the members and non-members. BIOMASA contributes to emission reduction of the CO2, due to reconstruction of the boiler rooms from coal and coke to biomass. Additionally, BIOMASA offers service of own boiler rooms using biomass.

The main purpose of BIOMASA activities is to inform and present rational usage of renewable energy resources, energy efficiency, high potential of biomass in Slovakia and specific activities for reduction of environmental pollution. It helps regional, as well as the national, residents from Slovakia to gain useful information about the possibilities of using biomass and to plan installation of the heating systems into their own houses or other objects by providing them consulting services.

One of the focal activities of BIOMASA is execution of various investment and non-investment projects supporting the usage of biomass. The indicator for successful project implementation is the growing interest in biomass heating in Slovakia.

BIOMASA is trying to promote effective usage of local renewable resources on all levels, but sees the biggest potential in young generation and children, who need to be educated about considerate behaviour to the environment.

BIOPEL is a joint-stock company that was founded by individuals and legal entities in 2012. The purpose of the company is to build transparent and successful business with a strong environmental feeling that is going to be a contribution for the region and regional economics. The main activity is production and purchase of wood raw material, sale of wide range of wood biofuels (wood pellets and briquettes, wood chips) and providing transport services. This whole process is covered by new Biomass logistic centre in Kysucky Lieskovec.

The company provides complex services to its customers during delivery of the wood biofuels for heating. QUALITY If you want to buy the wood pellets in the best quality ensuring safe maintenance of your boiler, you should look for round stamp of ENplus A1 certification and ID number. Cheap purchase of imported low quality wood pellets usually result to big problems, pellets consumption is higher. At the end of the heating season you can change your clogged boiler sooner you have expected. Considering our and our customers experience, we recommend only verified certified quality of wood pellets.

ENplus A1 represents the highest quality parameters suitable for all kinds of boilers and fireplaces according to instruction for boiler operation and maintenance. Production of our pellets ensures wood waste processing without any chemical additives and raw sawdust without bark.

European certification ENplus guarantees the highest raw material quality, quality of processing, storing and delivery to end customer. The system guarantees that production and logistic is under control as well. ENplus presents new criteria for wood pellets quality certification. Except for ash content, water content and heating capacity explores fraction of fine parts and ash melting temperature.

Wood pellets

Wood pellets are a suitable fuel for home heating. The wood pellets are produced from pure sawdust by pressing under high pressure at high temperature. The final shape of wood pellets is a short roller. Produced fuel contains a low proportion of moisture and provides a large calorific value. Wooden pellet burning is allowed in boilers designed to burn wood pellets that provide full comfortable automatic heating of households, large and small objects. ENplus A1 quality wood pellets burning is high effective and reduces CO2 emissions.

Wood briquettes

Our offer includes ecologic, 100 % natural fuel with high heating capacity. Wood briquettes are produced by pressing of loose wood waste without any form of glue additives. Made of super dried wood chips and sawdust. Bricks can be burned by themselves or with fire-wood to produce clean-burning, long-lasting heat at a better price. Wood briquettes brings you clean fuel with user-friendly manipulations and green bonus. Slovak producer ensures security for supplies.

BIOPEL offers alternative pellets produced from plant biomass in a 20 kg package.

Pellets are 100 % natural material and are produced from waste fractions of agricultural biomass - cereals. According to the current harvest season it may be wheat, barley, maize or rape. Vegetable pellets are more difficult to burn, so the boiler must be so designed that it can burn it. The main difference is the ash content, which can be about 5 - 10 % for plant pellets. What is 5 to 10 times higher than for wood pellets.

Wood chips

Wood chips are one of the forms of solid biomass that can be used mainly for energy purposes. Wood-chip is a modern environmental fuel of the future. Any wooden material specially grown as an energy plant or wood waste can be used to prepare the chips for combustion.

QUALITY BIOPEL focuses on the production of wood-chips of higher quality about moisture up to 30 % at the lowest cost, which requires new approaches to their production that are carried out abroad. Combustion of insufficiently dried wood chips is uneconomic and nonecologic. That is why we want to offer quality dry wood chipps.

TECHNOLOGY The production of wood chips is ensured by MAN TGS professional chipper. The chipper construction allows the production of a suitable grain of wood-chips. The machine performance is 200 m3/h of woodchips according to Ă–NORM M 7133. The required chips humidity is achieved by their natural desiccation in the sheltered warehouse, using the truck container sets for transporting the wood waste.

DISTRIBUTION The import and distribution of produced wood-chips is realized by 3 sets of vehicles.

One set consists of semitrailer truck with walking floor. The remaining two sets consist of a truck with a container carrier and a trailer. The container set Volvo is specially developed for the distribution of wood-chips by means of a pneumatic system consisting of a pump and a special container. The vehicle is equipped with a weighing system and a printer where the delivery order will be printed.

Storage and natural drying When the timber is extracted, the wood waste is weighed by a forestry export set into a landfill, which is a natural shuffle, for example in large heaps, where the storage of stored biomass and the flow of ambient air also lead to loss of water. When pouring the wood chips into a thin layer of about 5 cm on a large area, it is possible to use solar radiation and intensive air flow in the event of dry moisture cracking of about 20 % during one day. Drying containers are used for drying the crushed chips, which have a double bottom and are equipped with a flange for the supply of the drying air. As a heat source, the boiler is powered.

Chipping The biomass waste is left to dry in a natural way until it is cutt into the chips of the appropriate sizes. If wood chips reach the required parameters, the wood chips are distributed to the combustion boilers. If natural wood chips do not reach the required moisture after natural drying, a new innovative approach to wood chips production enables them to reach the desired moisture in a mobile container dryer.

Storage in a sheltered warehouse Wood chips are stored on free or covered landfills (shelters, closed storehouses). Closed stock of wood chips can be storage halls, stocks with mechanized pull up fuel, and silos with gravitation or mechanized emptying. To avoid the possibility of mixing unwanted additives, it is recommended that energetic wood chips should be stored especially on solid surfaces with concrete or asphalt surfaces.

Purchase of cuttings Most part of chips is made of wood cuttings purchased from sawmills. The most suitable method of transposing this material is storage on a dry, airy and sunny place.

Our service - wood splitting at the customer Are you busy and don't you have a time to prepare delivered fuel wood? We offer just for you the new woodcutting service directly at the customer. The service is provided by the professional mobile wood splitting machine POSCH. The device allows the cutting of the metric, but thanks to the additional table also the splitting of short wood with a length of 35/55 cm. Hydraulic device for lifting heavy trunks saves the time and an effort.

A mobile wood splitting machine will be delivered to you by our specialized worker as a trailer by terrain vehicle. The splitting machine has a petrol and also an electric motor so it is possible to use it in harder places without the possibility of electrical connection.

Heating capacity Do you have already been thinking about the type of wood, which type is the best choice for the heating? The heating capacity is the amount of the heat, which we gain by combusting of 1kg of wood for approximately 15 MJ/kg (by the moisture around 20 %).

The type of wood used for heating depends mainly on the location where the heating is used, and if the heating is to be economical and ecological as well, it is good when it comes from the same region as it was mined.

Natural drying The fresh wood contains about 50 % water and the minimum wood drying time is one year when the water content drops below 30 %. It is recommended, however, to dry the wood for at least two to three years when the water content falls below the acceptable 20 %.

In combustion of raw wood, a large amount of wood energy is consumed to evaporate water, and burning is marked by negative accompanying phenomena such as tarnishing, smoldering and dropping of boiler output. The burning of raw wood is completely noneconomic and especially non-ecological.

Wood splitting

Wood heating is one of the traditional ways of heating family houses. However, opposite modern biofuels does not offer the convenience of automatic transport to the boiler and regulators of combustion. Wooden logs are also much more bulky and contain more water and ash. These disadvantages are also the time requirement in its preparation.

However, these disadvantages are compensated by low fuel prices, and wood remains a favourite source of heat.

Forest and agricultural machinery

Forest export set - Professional wood skidder The set is given for the picking wood mass, especially during the mining of wood, in case of accidental mining. The loading area is given for the transport of 2 - 5 meters, the total capacity of the wood skidder is 5 000 kg, or the volume of the loading area is 5 mÂł. The total weight of the set is up to 10 000 kg. As a part of the accessory, the machine for the export brushwood was also supplied to the machine.

The set is used for the transporting of wood mass to the stock-pile where it will naturally lose the moisture. Subsequently, the wood waste will be processed by a wood chipper.

Tractor for preparing of raw materials The tractor is used for the preparation and processing of raw materials for the production of alternative types of biofuels in the form of briquettes or pellets. The tractor with the siding is equipped with a large-scale refinery for the processing of waste agricultural biomass. With its low weight it does not have a negative impact on the ground cover compared to heavy-duty machinery. This versatile MK5000 tractor can handle any task.

For this purpose, we have laboratory and measure techniques to determine important physical properties of biofuel and their energy value: ź Device for measuring of mechanic resistance of biofuels ź Electronic platform weight in range 200 - 300 kg ź Professional humidity meter of wood pellets ź Full-automatic professional moisture analyser of sawdust and wood-chips ź Calorimetric system for determination of combustion heat and heat value of solid and liquid substance The laboratory is also equipped for testing of wood-chips, where the very important criterion is a humidity. Heat sources are rated on combustion of fuel in particular degree of humidity, but if the humidity is higher, the device does not work with sufficient performance and the combustion process is ineffective. For the determination of moisture, it was bought the analyser of humidity of wood-chips, which is able to measure the humidity of fuel in a very short time.

Devices for control and setting of the combustion process, as well as for the control of the amount of processing heat: ź Analyzer of flue gases - a measurement for every type of fuel - apparatus mainly serves on measurement of flue gases from boilers on combustion of wood pellets, and at the same time is appropriate as digital manometer with barometer, digital thermometer and detector of CO. ź Portable ultrasonic heat meter for measuring the flow of liquid in the pipeline as well as the amount of energy supplied in the heating systems. It is suitable for the analysis or the audit of heating and cooling systems. Collected dates can be used to achieve the total energetic balance, or help in monitoring and optimalization of the process of production of heat energy.

The market with bought biofuels has to be constantly under the control from the point of view of the quality and energy value. Biomass logistic centre in Kysucky Lieskovec invites all their customers and people who are interested in a green heating into newly opened showroom, in which we demonstrate and present wood biofuels and heating techniques.

In showroom, we present smaller heating devices capable for heating households, mainly fireplace and fireplace inserts for wooden pellets. We want to use energy, which is contained in biofuels, effectively and therefore it needs to be burnt in the high-efficiency burning devices, which are nowadays very popular trends in architecture. The fireplaces with simply, clean and very stylish design are exhibit, but also the rustical fireplaces appropriate to cottages. Pellet fireplaces are known for their high effectiveness or for their design which is suitable for instance for your living room.

Customers can see the exhibited fireplaces and fireplace inserts into details, get know with their features and mainly to ask for an advice in choosing the most appropriate one for them. In showroom, there is one of these fireplaces plugged and serves as the heating device for this room. Client can see the real situations from the start, through filling a fuel, a consumption of fuel for the heating object, costs for providing and capital spent on it.

The focus on these devices is on additional value, so on the environmental aspect of heating of wood biopellets.

Wine cellar Tibava, Sobrance-Tibava, Slovakia An old tradition of viniculture production started to come alive after 1952. Nowadays, this tradition follows the company PIVNICA TIBAVA, which grow and treat with grapes on more than 200 wine yards around Tibava, Vysne Nemecke, Krcava and Ubrez and gradually plant another new wineyards. The most successful varieties in this are seem to be Tramin Cerveny, Rizling vlassky, Rulandske biele, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zweigeltrebe, Frankovka modra, as well as the other more traditional varieties as Rizling rynsky or Muller Thurgau which offer quality wines for production.

Winterberg Winery, Skalica, Slovakia This winery was established in Skalica in 2012 on the basis of the famous Srholec family from which also Don Anton Srholec (on the photo) comes from. These days, the winery specializes on production quality varietal wines, where beside traditional white dry wines as Rizling vlassky, Muskat moravsky, or Veltlinske zelene became popular also Sauvignon, Tramin cerveny or Rizling rynsky. Pink wines are presented by refreshing Frankovka modra rose and Cabernet Sauvignon rose; and red wines mainly by famous Skalicky rubin and Skalicka frankovka. The quality of wines from the winery Winterberg is proveded by a lot of prices on prestigious competitions both at home and abroad, as well as the interest of customers in wineries, restaurants, hotels and final consumers.

Winery VignePiane, Treviso, Italy The wine area Veneto is a place, where the Italian sparkling wines are born. Typical wines as spumante, proseco and other have a home right here. Veneto belongs to the one of the most known vinaries and wine regions in Italy. It lays in the north-east part of Italy.

In this area, the most plant varieties are Garganega, Corvina and Trebbiano. Permissible varieties are also Chardonnay and Pinot blanc, but just as cuvee if Garganega is the basis (not less than 70 %). From the blue varieties is plant Merlot, Cabernet franc and native variety Raboso.
