Sound Investment Community Choir
John Wervers, the new music director for the Sound Investment Community Choir discusses the repertoire for the spring concert with accompanist, Keiko Yoden-Kuepfer.The spring concert, ’The Joy of Spring’ will be held in Collingwood, Friday, May 2 at 7:30 at Trinity United Church.
As well as in Wasaga Beach, Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Lighthouse Community Church. Tickets available at Crow’s Nest in Collingwood, Curiosity Books in Creemore, IDA Pharmacy in Wasaga Beach, The Lighthouse Community Church, from choir members and at the door.
Choir Welcomes New Conductor
“With passion and enthusiasm, great things can be accomplished in the performing arts. With average musical abilities, a common goal and extraordinary perseverance, we can make beautiful music together,” said John. “Sharing the joy of making live music is transformational. It does something good for the soul.” The Sound Investment Community Choir considers itself to be very fortunate that John was available to take over rehearsals on Monday evenings when the position of musical director became available. Choir members look forward to working with such an energetic, enthusiastic lover of music. The Sound Investment Community Choir is a SATB choir, drawing members from the surrounding South Georgian Bay area. Members come from Wasaga Beach, Thornbury, Duntroon, Creemore, Staynor and Collingwood. We strive to bring quality choral music to the South Georgian Bay area. Anyone interested in becoming a member is asked to call 705-293-0573 for further information. New members will be welcomed in September. The Sound Investment Community Choir is delighted to announce that John Wervers has joined us this season, as the new music director. Wervers comes to the position with a wealth of musical credentials, with both teaching and conducting experience from across Canada, as well as internationally. In addition to being a highly successful music educator for over 30 years, John has established and directed a variety of choral and instrumental ensembles in churches, communities and schools throughout Ontario. Over the years, John has directed the University of Regina Orchestra, the Brock University Singers, the K-W Chamber Orchestra, and the International Sault Chorus, to name just a few. Since his recent retirement as a music educator from the Upper Grand District School Board in 2012, John has become involved as a music director with a number of different musical groups (both choral and orchestral) in the Simcoe and Dufferin Regions.
