EXHIBITION SUCCESS DEMONSTRATES MARKET GROWTH IN SMART HOME TECHNOLOGY

A remarkable TEN THOUSAND people visited the Gira stand during the recent ‘Light & Building’ show in Frankfurt (the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building technology) with many travelling from the UK. This number represents a significant increase in the volume of visitors to the stand compared to when the show last took place in 2016, thus demonstrating the ground-swell of interest in this exciting product area.

Gira is a leading global player of intelligent system solutions for building management for both commercial and domestic applications and it has targeted, the UK, and more specifically, kbb installers and retailers plus electrical installers, system designers and distributors for considerable growth this year. 

The Gira exhibition stand was vast, dwarfing many of its competitors and it reflected its standing as a market leader. The company received a great deal of positive feedback about the innovations on show and the modified stand concept. “This is our most important trade fair, and the success we enjoyed here will give us momentum for the day-to-day business to come,” commented Torben Bayer, Head of Brand Development and Marketing at Gira. “The combination of product presentation and hands-on experience of smart housing technology found just as much favour with both our domestic and foreign customers as did our range of specialist lectures on a wide range of topics related to building control.”

Particularly well received were the light socket ‘Plug & Light’, the combination of the compact smart home server ‘Gira X’” with ‘Alexa’ voice control and the WiFi-based sound system ‘Sonos’ as well as the remote access module ‘Gira S1’ which ensures completely encrypted data transmission for mobile access to the ‘Smart home’.

Gira used the ‘Light & Building’ show to set some new standards in data security, currently a hot topic with recent breaches in security of personal data at Facebook and the new European legislation in data protection (GDPR) which is coming into force in mid-May. The new remote access module “Gira S1” guarantees that communication with the KNX Smart Home is protected from unauthorised access even when used. Torben Bayer commented, “It has never been as easy and safe security wise for homeowners to link to their digitally connected dwelling when away from their home; however, our new Gira S1 addresses this and we are therefore able to set new benchmarks in terms of data security underlining that once again, Gira stands for German engineering solutions and innovation quality with real added values for users,”
