POST BREXIT GOOD NEWS WITH KITCHEN INSTALLATIONS TO REACH A NEW HIGH IN 2016
After all the post Brexit uncertainty its great to hear some good news, and all of us in the kbb industry will feel more confident about the immediate future with the publication of a report by a respected source (JKMR). The report indicates that the number of kitchen installations taking place in the UK is set to reach a new peak by the end of 2016, with numbers having exceeded 1.1million last year. The homeowner refurbishment market remains the strongest market sector and is responsible for some 57% of installations by client type in 2015; this represents an increase of some 7.5%.

The report also discovered that the amount of kitchen retailers in the UK grew a little last year, mainly due to new store openings by Howden and Benchmarx which off-set closures by Homebase and B&Q. This said, independents still comprise the greater market share with an impressive 40% plus of the total market value. Despite this fact the report does indicate that the number of retailers is expected to decrease a little in the next few years. More encouragingly though, the analysis demonstrated notable sales growth to new build/housing developer market, this is of course good news for manufacturers and distributors who supply this market sector.
Finally; although all kitchen product sectors fared well by experiencing sales increases of at least 6.5%; the sink and tap sector did particularly well, with growth in excess of 10%!
