Based on the results of last fall’s 2024 Amenity Satisfaction Surve know that we heard you and want to share our plans to enhance your e at Racquet.

Maintenance of Facilities

Concern: The conditions of some courts (e.g. 5 & 6) is a significant concern, affecting play quality

Remedy: The Racquet Club Committee and I have been diligently researching surface options for the replacement of tennis courts 5 and 6. Earlier this month, a group of 14 members visited the CushionX manufacturing facility to gain firsthand insight into one of the options under consideration. Each player is currently scoring the surfaces, and once all feedback is collected and pricing evaluated, we hope to move forward with a full replacement. While the process may seem slow, our priority is to ensure the courts are rebuilt to the highest standard, providing long-term functionality and enjoyment for all members.

Dry conditions were a challenge last summer on clay courts 1–4. With aging irrigation systems and the intensity of our hot Georgia summers, it became clear that additional watering support was needed. To address this, Signature Tennis has been contracted and funding approved for the installation of above-ground sprinklers on courts 1–4. Installation will begin in the coming weeks, and a new watering and grooming schedule—early morning and mid-day—will be implemented to ensure the courts remain in top playing condition.

Concern: lack of support/ maintenance for Bocce facilities; courts often require cleaning; lack of adequate promotion and attention v. other racquet sports

Remedy: In late 2024, the Bocce Committee compiled a list of structural and visual improvements needed at the bocce facility. Lydell Mack and I have worked diligently to bring the facility up to the standards our members deserve. Brad Bowman, our Racquet Club Maintenance Lead, now visits the courts each morning to ensure they are clean and ready for play.

Cracks in the walking surface have been assessed by CBA Sports for potential repair and repainting. These improvements are currently under review for inclusion in the 2025 and/or 2026 budgets.

The 2024 member survey revealed that 84% of members play bocce primarily for social interaction, while only 4% play competitively. In response, the Racquet Committee and I are planning quarterly socials—not just for bocce players, but for all Racquet Club members. In addition, the marketing team and I have launched campaigns to spotlight our beautiful facility and promote the open play opportunities available every day of the week—a true delight for our social players!
