EN EL FESTIVAL TIMBALAYE
La rumba, ese irresistible ritmo tradicional y cubanísimo marcado profundamente por las raíces africanas, colmado de un sabor que envuelve y emociona, retorna a su cumbre en la XIV Edición del Festival Internacional Timbalaye – “La Ruta de la Rumba”, a celebrarse del 19 al 31 de agosto del presente año. Esta entrega estará dedicada a la presencia Yoruba en Cuba, una oportunidad para enaltecer la riqueza del legado de África, inherente al género y a los patrimonios materiales e inmateriales que ostenta la Isla caribeña. En este sentido, el lema “Sentimiento de mi legado” guiará durante trece días, la evocación a la fuerte presencia africana que transversaliza y enriquece nuestra cultura, y al intenso sonar de los icónicos tambores festejando la música y la vida.

at the Timbalaye Festival
Rumba, the irresistible traditional Cuban rhythm deeply marked by African roots, filled with a sweeping and exciting flavor, returns to its peak at the 14th International Timbalaye Festival “La Ruta de la Rumba”, to be held from August 19 to 31 this year. This year will be dedicated to the Yoruba presence in Cuba, an opportunity to highlight the richness of Africa's legacy, inherent to the rhythm and to the material and immaterial heritage of Cuba. In this regard, the slogan “Sentimiento de mi legado” will lead during thirteen days, the reference of the strong African presence that interweaves and enriches our culture, and the intense sound of the iconic drums celebrating music and life.
El sentir rumbero y su armonía estremecedora se extenderá por ocho provincias cubanas: La Habana, Pinar del Río, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Santa Clara, Camagüey, Santiago de Cuba y Guantánamo. Siendo la capital, sede de la inauguración y la clausura. Cada instancia de la Ruta promete ser un reconocimiento y celebración del África perenne en nuestra esencia, en la identidad y el acervo cultural de la nación. Los barrios, como es tradición, fungirán como escenario del vibrante e histórico encanto sonoro. Junto a Objetivo Patrimonio Legado Africano (OPLA), la edición del 2022 se centrará en estos espacios como plataforma principal de la transmisión oral de los patrimonios vivos. El arte en su diversidad de manifestaciones y lenguajes, conquistará cada rincón expresado en música, danza, artes visuales y poesía. El Festival acogerá una magnífica cofradía de músicos, poetas, agrupaciones danzarias, artistas de la plástica y académicos, en torno al desarrollo de la rumba, su relevancia e historia. De igual forma, el Turismo Sostenible constituye uno de los enfoques de la XIV edición, con su rol determinante en el fomento y conservación de los patrimonios culturales. Un especial programa, para estas jornadas veraniegas, convida a todos a rumbear desde todas las aristas del género. Propone entonces conciertos, clases de danza, coloquios, recorridos a sitios históricos, intercambios con importantes figuras desde los barrios, espectáculos y un sinfín de actividades recreativas y teóricas. Asimismo, este encuentro que fomenta el intercambio y la integración cultural, contará con la participación especial de la Asociación Nacional de Amistad Italia-Cuba y la presencia de la delegación mexicana, resultando un puente para consolidar los lazos de hermandad con los pueblos. Desde su fundación en 2007, el evento desempeña una importante y exitosa labor en la promoción y salvaguarda de este género musical y danzario, declarado por la UNESCO Patrimonio Inmaterial de la Humanidad. Timbalaye Promotor Internacional de la Cultura Cubana invita al festejo auspiciado por organizaciones como el Ministerio de Cultura, la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba, la Fundación Fernando Ortíz y el Consejo Nacional de Patrimonio de Cuba. Timbalaye es fiesta de música y tradición, única y multitudinaria, espacio de confluencia generacional que reúne a participantes de Cuba y el mundo. Es alegría, historia, cubanía, africanidad y arraigo a los orígenes. En el mes de agosto, el público impetuoso se congrega en las barriadas, y esta suerte de magia rítmica invoca a los ancestros. Los tambores resuenan, todos bailan, sienten y celebran orgullosos. Sean bienvenidos entonces, los visitantes ávidos de descubrir la Cuba única a través de la rumba auténtica e imperecedera.
The feeling of rumba and its thrilling harmony will spread throughout eight Cuban provinces: La Habana, Pinar del Río, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Santa Clara, Camagüey, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo. The capital city will host the opening and closing ceremonies. Each step of the Route promises to be a recognition and celebration of Africa in our essence, in the identity and cultural heritage of the nation. The neighborhoods, as traditional, will host the vibrant and historic event. Together with the Objetivo Patrimonio Legado Africano (OPLA), the 2022 event will focus on these places as the main venue for the oral transmission of living heritage. Art in its diversity of expressions and languages will conquer every corner expressed in music, dance, visual arts and poetry. The Festival will host a magnificent link between musicians, poets, dance groups, visual artists and scholars, on the development of rumba, its relevance and history. Similarly, Sustainable Tourism is one of the focuses of the 14th event, with its decisive role in the promotion and conservation of cultural heritage. A special program for these summer days invites everyone to enjoy rumba in all forms of the rhythm’s expressions. It offers concerts, dance lessons, colloquiums, tours to historical sites, exchanges with important figures from the neighborhoods, shows and a host of recreational and theoretical activities. Likewise, this meeting, which promotes cultural exchange and integration, will have the special participation of the National Association of Italy-Cuba Friendship and the presence of the Mexican delegation, thus becoming a bridge to strengthen the bonds between the peoples. Since its foundation in 2007, the event has played an important and successful role in the promotion and safeguarding of this musical and dance rhythm, declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Timbalaye Promotor Internacional de la Cultura Cubana invites to the event sponsored by organizations such as the Ministry of Culture, the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Fernando Ortiz Foundation and the National Heritage Council of Cuba. Timbalaye is a celebration of music and tradition, unique and massively attended, a space of confluence of generations that brings together participants from Cuba and the world. It is joy, history, Cuban identity, Africanism and deep roots to origins. In the month of August, impetuous people gather in the neighborhoods, and this sort of rhythmic magic invokes the ancestors. The drums resound, everyone dances, feeling and celebrating proudly. Welcome then, visitors eagering to discover the unique Cuba through the authentic and everlasting rumba.

En las instalaciones turísticas cubanas y otras unidades de servicio, los precios están fijados en pesos cubanos (CUP). Se aceptan las tarjetas de crédito siempre que NO sean emitidas por bancos estadounidenses ni sus sucursales en otros países. El visitante a nuestro país debe poseer un pasaporte vigente y la correspondiente visa o Tarjeta de Turista. Se exceptúan los países con los que Cuba mantiene convenios de libre visado. Las Tarjetas de Turista pueden solicitarse antes las representaciones consulares cubanas. También en las agencias de viajes y líneas aéreas. Al llegar a la aduana, se entiende por turista aquella persona no residente permanentemente en el país, independientemente de su nacionalidad, que entre al mismo por razones de placer, negocio, salud, deporte, por un período mayor de 24 horas y menor de 6 meses. Los turistas podrán importar sus efectos personales, los que entran al país como una admisión temporal; libres del pago de derecho de aduanas y deben ser reexportados a su salida. NO TRAIGA CONSIGO O EN EL EQUIPAJE QUE LE ACOMPAÑA: Droga y estupefacientes. Sustancias psicotrópicas o alucinógenos Sustancias precursoras Explosivos Hemoderivados Literatura, artículos y objetos obscenos o pornográficos o que atenten contra los intereses generales de la nación. EL TURISTA PUEDE EXPORTAR: Hasta veinte (20) unidades de tabaco torcido sueltos, sin necesidad de presentar ningún documento. Hasta cincuenta ( 50) unidades de tabaco torcido, con la condición que estén contenidos en el envases originales, cerrado, sellado y con el holograma oficial establecido, exigencias sin las cuales no se autoriza la exportación. Cantidad en exceso de cincuenta (50) unidades de tabaco torcido, las cuales no pueden exceder el valor de los 5,000.00 CUC, deben presentar la factura de venta oficial expedida por la red de tiendas autorizadas a comercializar tabacos torcidos cubanos, correspondiente a todo el tabaco torcido que intenten extraer y que necesariamente tiene que estar contenidos en envases originales, cerrados y sellados y con el holograma oficial establecido. Las cantidades de tabaco torcido en exceso de las cincuentas (50) unidades que no sea declarado por el viajero y cualquier cantidad que exceda lo declarado, o que habiéndose declarado no se acredite su adquisición lícita mediante la factura de venta oficial o los envases no posean los atributos y demás exigencias que lo identifican como tabaco torcido cubano, dará lugar al decomiso. De igual forma podrá llevar hasta 3 botellas de licor y 200 cigarrillos, souvenirs o recuerdos de su estancia en el país. TOURISTS MAY EXPORT: Up to (20) units of twisted tobacco (cigars or snuffed) without proof of purchase and up to fifty (50) units of twisted tobacco as long as packed in their original containers, closed, sealed and exhibiting the official established hologram, otherwise said export is forbidden. For any amount exceeding fifty (50) units of twisted tobacco and not exceeding 5,000 cuc, tourists must provide official sales invoice issued by any of the stores authorized to market Cuban twisted tobacco, corresponding to all the tobacco to be exported and packed in their original containers, closed, sealed and exhibiting the official established hologram. Amounts of twisted tobacco in excess of fifty (50) units not declared by the traveler or any other amount exceeding the one declared, or that even being declared for that matter, either its acquisition is not duly credited by an official sales invoice or packing containers do not meet the identification requirements of Cuban twisted tobacco, will be seized by Custom authorities. Similarly, tourists may export up to three (3) liquor bottles and two hundred (200) cigarettes, souvenirs or mementos of their stay in the country.
