“AN OUT- OF - NORMAL WEEKEND” BY SOFÍA BARRANTES 9-C

If I would have to describe the EPI experience in one word, it would be : unforgettable. You may ask me- Why ? Well, I will tell you. When we got there, we knew that it would be a different experience because it was out of the ordinary current events. The weather was different and even the food.

EPI was amazing. We had the opportunity to see Leatherback turtles and also the spawning process. We went to three patrols. The first one began at 7:30 p.m. and we didn´t see any turtles. But the next night we started at 9:30 and there we saw two turtles. We saw one of them like doing the hole , but then we saw another one. It was an amazing experience to watch the turtle in the entire process. I mean watching her digging the hole, laying the eggs, and then watching her returning to the sea trusting that her eggs would be safe because that was our work as a team – putting the eggs on the nursery and helping them to grow.

Finally, the last patrol was at 11:30. That night was the most exhausting one because we walked until the 17th landmark. There we rested and then we returned and did the process again. I was very happy at the end of the trip and I´m sure that my favorite thing of all the trip was watching the spawning process. There are moments that you ´ll never forget and I´m totally sure that EPI is one of them.

KANSAS EXCHANGE PROGRAM 2018 BY ERIN AND KENNETH PATERSON

First of all, let me say Pura Vida! Our trip to Costa Rica has been a wonderful experience. We have been treated so well and everyone we have met or encountered has been truly welcoming and sweet. The people of Costa Rica have welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like for these weeks we are here, that Costa Rica is home.

This country is beautiful beyond comparison, from the many colors on the streets of San Jose, to the waterfalls and volcanoes, from the strikingly beautiful beaches to the lush green of the rainforest, there is nothing like this country.

Being at another Sion school has made me realize how similar we are in our mission and our hearts work. I felt at home with the staff and the students at your school. We cannot thank everyone enough for stepping in and making our experience in Costa Rica incredible and genuine. We had the opportunity to truly have an immersive experience, being part of your community and your culture.

We cannot wait to visit again, see all of our new friends, and experience even more of your beautiful country.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.
