What are probiotics and how are they used?

Probiotics are live micro-organisms and have been known for their beneficial effect on health for hundreds of years. For example, in Yoghurt and choucrout (Sauerkraut).

Wide application in humans, you can chose from a large variety of probiotics in supermarkets and pharmacies.

Wide application in nutrition of pigs and poultry on farms world wide.

It is very important to formulate the descriptions of the effect of Calsporin® in the dog diet in accordance with guidelines from EFSA and EU-Commission.

Facts

• Specific name: Bacillus velezensis DSM 15544. Identification number: 4b1820. Name of the functional group: Gut flora stabilizers.

• The minimum amount of Bacillus velezensis is 1x109 CFU/kg in a complete food for dogs.

Stability results in digest and application

Calsporin® is stable in digest when stored acc. to specification (up to 35°C).

• Agitation of digest before use is not necessary.

Calsporin® is on spore form until it reaches the guts of the dog.

• Heat-stable when applying digest below 60°C (BHJ recommends max 40°C).

• Heat-stable when applied to kibbles having a temperature of 80°C.

Shelf-life after application on kibbles: min. 2 years in normal bags.

• Application of Calsporin® mixed into digest ensures homogenous coating compared to adding it alone as powder.

• CoA follows each IBC containing Calsporin®.
