Hindi biro ang magsara ng BG Showbiz Plus lalo’t kami na lang ang nag-iisang entertainment magazine sa Pilipinas. Pinaghihirapan namin maihatid sa mga Pinoy showbiz fans dito at sa buong mundo ang mga exclusive na balita na siguradong magugustuhan ninyo at kagigiliwan ninyong basahin.

Kasabay ng BG Showbiz Plus Magazine ay ang pagtatatag ko ng isa pang production company para lalong sumigla ang Philippine showbiz. Ito ay tinawag kong Global Films Worldwide International, Inc. Ang aking bagong film company ay masisilbing venue para lalo pang paigtingin ang mainstream movies natin.

Minsa’y tinanong ako kung iiwan ko na raw ba ang BG Productions International. Nais kong sabihin na hinding-hindi ko iiwan ang BG Productions International na siyang naghatid ng mga makabuluhang independent movies at nagbigay ng maraming awards hindi lang para sa akin kundi pati na rin sa Pilipinas.

Ako’y nagagalak dahil may mga bigating artista na rin tayong nakausap na lalabas sa aking dalawang production company. Alam kong excited na kayong malaman kung sinu-sino sila pero siyempre, secret muna. Darating tayo diyan.

Nag-uumpisa na rin akong kumuha ng mga exclusive stars para sa aking production company. Ipinakilala ko na rin ang ilan sa kanila sa isang malaking press conference na ginanap sa Marco Polo Hotel Ortigas kamakailan. Ang lahat ng ito at iba pang kaganapan sa aking dalawang production company ay mababasa ninyo lamang sa BG Showbiz Plus Magazine.

Marami pa akong plano na pihadong ikatutuwa ng showbiz industry at ng mga movie fans. Nawa’y kahit papaano ay makatulong ang aking konting nakayanan na iambag sa Philippine cinema. Maliit man ito sa iba pero para sa akin, bukal sa puso ko ang pagtulong para lalong maging matagumpay ang local showbiz.

It’s been almost half a year already and our magazine is thankful for the people and the moments that make us really gratified.

ONESTY, as Benjamin Franklin said, is the best policy. True enough, this virtue is what’s keeping Maine Mendoza (real name: Nicomaine Dei Capili Mendoza) on top of the heap, three years after she broke into the scene as funny, endearing Yaya Dub.

The what-you-see-iswhat-you-get Yaya Dub and Maine have many things in common. Both come from typical Filipino families that value respect for elders, and closeness that last forever.

Both like to wear their hearts on their sleeves.

Back in 2015, when Yaya Dub and eat bulaga kalyeserye partner Alden Richards were still taking the first baby steps in their on screen romance, the former never hid her feelings for the handsome guy she fell for at first sight.

Yaya Dub did her famous Pabebe Wave and threw flying kisses at Alden on the split screen flashed all over the country, and all over the world.

Fans swooned, ratings for the noontime show soared, and the phenomenal love team called AlDub (culled from the first two syllables of their names) was born.

Today, AlDub may not be that visible as before.

Maine and Alden are taking their separate paths in showbiz, but the chemistry, 6

and the friendship remain.

Like the groundbreaking Yaya Dub, Maine continues to show how she feels, and express herself in a medium she’s comfortable in – the written word. Even before her impersonation of Kris Aquino went viral and made her an instant Internet star, Maine, a graduate of Culinary Arts from De La Salle University – College of

St. Benilde, has channeled her passion for writing into personal blogs.

She again indulged this passion – and that characteristic candor – in an open letter that reflected her need to be real.

Maine knew she was risking her red-hot career when she published her letter to fans in November 2017. But she had to speak up – or keep silent forever.

That letter that echoed and reechoed all over showbiz and showed someone aching to be herself, crying for independence, and the right to break away from the gilded cage that trapped her in celebrity do’s and don’ts.

“I need to be honest. I’m at the point where I feel I live in a box. I have not been able to do what I want and say what I feel,” she wrote.

Don’t get her wrong. Maine said she’s grateful for the love and the chance to brighten up people’s lives -- thanks to AlDub’s unprecedented fame (the Guinness World Records recognized the love team’s 2015

But she just had to be herself, and speak the truth “even if your voice shakes.” She had to tell her legions of fans that she and Alden are just friends, no more, no less.

Maine knew she was pushing her luck. But she can’t for the life of her, run away from the truth staring her in the face. Honesty was – and still is – more important to her than all the public adulation in the world. For her, no amount of fame can take the place of happiness at being yourself.

This independent streak makes Maine her own person, no matter where she goes or what she does. You have to take it or leave it.

Instead of sending her career on a downward spiral, Maine’s leap of faith made her even more popular. It proved once more that people always appreciate good intentions. And that truth sets you free.

As of this writing, Maine’s Twitter account @mainedcm has 4.76 million followers. She has three million followers on Instagram.

All these, because she knows her followers deserve the truth, and nothing but. Maine gets her strength from these followers who have proven to her that they’re behind her, no matter what.

“They love me for who I am,” she beams. I don’t have to pretend to be someone I’m not, just to be adored and loved. They accept everything about me—even my flaws.”

Thanks to this unconditional love, Maine feels secure enough to be herself. Save for some adjustments here and there, Maine doesn’t see the need to make big changes about herself.

Yes, people expect a lot from public figures like her. But Maine has time and again said she won’t lose sleep if people crucify her for being true to herself.

“It’s important that your supporters know you’re not fooling them, even when if comes to the smallest things,” she points out. ”Your values, your principles should still be intact, no matter what you’re going through in showbiz.”

This is also where managing people’s high expectations come in. For Maine, living up to other people’s image of her can be daunting. She’s human, after all.

She’s not perfect. She has her low moments. And she can feel the pressure of having many eyes looking at her, searching for the right answers.

But Maine makes sure she does her best to set a good example, especially to fellow millennials who look up to her. Even then, as many public figures like her know, pleasing everybody is asking for the

moon.

“You can’t avoid it if people scrutinize all your actions,” observes Maine. Some will like what they see. Others won’t. Maine just shrugs, knowing that this is something beyond her control.

“It’s up to the people to weigh things.”

What’s more important to her is that she has made people smile and gave them reason to hope despite the hardships they’re facing. That’s what keeps her going as a private person and as a celebrity.
