Aqua Growth

UTILITARIAN

COMMUNITY CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

PROJECT STATEMENT

The aqua growth community center is located in Haiti on the shore of port al prince. The building floats on the water by the shore and bridging into the community on the land. The building has a library, classrooms, mix use conference rooms, a commercial kitchen, fitness, and a workshop. The building has additional spaces open for the flow of circulation though outdoor spaces, roof and board walk.

Sitting on piers the built foundation of reinforced concrete transfers into rubber stopper into multiple two way-floor slab. The ground floor foundation hold its buoyancy on the water through a thickness of 4 feet of foamcrete. The floor slab is laid out on a 30 by 30 grid where a reinforces concrete column can be found within its intersections. The forced is spread through a cross laminated joist, 4 feet of center. The column found hold the floors and also penetrate all the way through to the roof.

PROJECT STATEMENT

THE PROJECT IS LOCATED IN PACIFIC GROVE CALIFORNIA AND IS PROPOSED TO BE A COMMUNITY LIBRARY OPENS TO THE PUBLIC. THE PROJECT IS A 2-STORY BUILDING THAT PROVIDES UNIQUE SPACES FOR USERS THAT WILL BE ABLE TO USE ALONG WITH PROVIDING A VAST VIEW OF THE PACIFIC OCEAN, CREATING A CALM LIT EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE BUILDING WHILE FUNCTIONING WITH THE PROGRAM. THE CONCEPT OF THE BUILDING IS CENTERED OVER THE EUCALYPTUS LEAF THAT IS OVERLAYED OVER EACH OTHER CREATING THE SPACES OF THE BUILDING AND USING THE CONCEPT OF THE VEINS OF THE LEAF TO LAYOUT THE PATH AND BOOKSHELF LAYOUT AROUND THE BUILDING.

OSAKA IS A LARGE PORT CITY AND COMMERCIAL CENTER ON THE JAPANESE ISLAND OF HONSHU. ONCE THE CAPITAL OF JAPAN. OSAKA, THE SECOND CITY OF JAPAN AFTER TOKYO, IS SAID TO BE THE COUNTRY'S BEST PLACE TO EAT, DRINK AND TO BE LIVELY! IT WAS EARLIER CALLED NANIWA AND HAS ALSO HAD THE HONOR OF BEING THE CAPITAL OF JAPAN AT ONE POINT. DESPITE ITS RICH HISTORY OSAKA IS NOT REALLY ONE FOR ITS FOR HISTORIANS FOCUSING MOR E ON ITS SHOPPING AND ITS FUTUR IST IC SIDE,THOUGH IT DOES BOAST IMPORTANT SHRINES AND LANDMARKS.THE OSAKA CITY FLOWERS ARE MAINLY THE CHERR Y BLOSSOM AND THE PANSY, WHICH WERE SELECTED BY THE CITIZENS IN 1987.

PROJECT STATEMENT

THE SITE IS LOCATED IN THE HOUSTON HEIGHTS AND IT WAS PROPOSED THAT THE PROJECT WAS GOING TO FUNCTION FOR A MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY FOR PATIENTS TO STAY UP TO 8 TO A YEAR IN TREATMENT IN THE RESIDENTIAL UNITS WHILE HAVING A THERAPY MALL AND PHARMACY CAFE, CLASSROOMS, CONFERENCE ROOMS ADMINISTRATION COURT ROOM AND 10 UNITS OF 10 ROOMS AND 2 INDIVIDUAL ROOMS WITH DAY ROOMS WHILE HAVING THE SUPPORT OF THE STAFF AROUND.

DESIGN IDEA

TO CREATE AN OPEN LIVING ENVIRONMENT THAT CAN ENHANCE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE THERAPY OF THE PATIENTS. ALLOWING A CONNECTION WITH WATER TO ACTIVATE AND CALM THE PATIENTS WHILE CATCHING AND CONSERVING THE WATER IN THE BUILDING AND PARK. THE USE OF SUNLIGHT IS USED WITHIN THE BUILDING THAT SHINE THROUGH THE VOIDS AND PATHS THAT PROMOTE PHYSICAL HEALTH WHILE BEING ABLE TO BE INSIDE AND OUT WITH THE INDOOR PARK THAT IS SHELLED. OVER WITH A SKYLIGHT. THE INDOOR PARK CENTER THROUGH THE 2ND AND 3RD FLOOR WHICH IS VENTILATED WITH ADJUSTABLE FINS THAT ALLOW NATURAL WIND TO VENTILATE THROUGH 3 OPENING AROUND THE LIVING UNITS OF THE BUILDING.
