To whom it may concern: In 2011 myself, son and nephew embarked upon a project to open a Kinetic Art Museum in Stratford upon Avon. It had been a lifelong ambition of mine and as I approach retirement I was keen to grant this wish to myself!

Our first step was to contact artists worldwide. Pascal Bettex very kindly supported us by offering to loan a very significant piece of kinetic art to form part of our opening exhibition. We agreed to meet at the forthcoming Kinetica Show in London where the organisers had clearly given Pascal the most prominent area in the hall, and it was obvious from the crowds around his exhibits that Pascal was a true leader in the genre’.

After the show Pascal came to our Museum in Stratford-­‐upon-­‐Avon and installed his "Le Mechanisms De L'Argent" . The exhibit is built around an old safe, complete with gold bars, a simulated blow lamp and a massive array of pulleys and belts. The bright primary colours make this such an interesting and cheerful piece and elements of humour c reep out from every direction as one looks deeper into the design.

Before we let Pascal leave we could not resist purchasing another item from him, “"L'Incomparable" In the time that we have known him, all at The MAD Museum have become good friends with Pascal and his wife Bette. Last year we had a great evening out discussing unusual opportunities of maybe kinetic works on, or as part of, full scale boats and trains. This year when we decided to expand our Museum to a bigger venue Pascal was the first to immediately create a new exhibit for us, "Le Picoreur" which is centred around principles of balance and momentum. Our new audience love it! It was then that he mentioned the Kinetic Train Carriage idea may indeed have a chance of becoming a reality. Our own view is that it would be immensely popular with the public.

Over the last two years we have learnt many difficult lessons. Many artists have loaned or sent us exhibits which were frankly of poor quality in design and manufacture, not fit for long term display, or just simply unreliable. From over 60 artists, three artists stand head and shoulders above the rest, namely Pascal Bettex, Jennifer Townley and David Williams. Their work is all high quality, well designed and fully reliable. Of the larger scale work by artists however Pascal is clearly ‘the King’ in our view.

Pascal’s has a fully equipped workshop and has all of the required skills in his own hands. Hence he is able to apply the renowned Swiss quality control to all of his works of art. His creations are totally robust and utterly reliable …..100% record with us so far!! A great attraction of Pascal’s designs is the variation between visual and mechanical strength alongside the most delicate and beautiful mechanisms. Wit and humour are always only a glace away.
