What’s the Solution?

What You Need to Know About Drug & Alcohol Abuse Nearly 200 people a day died from drug overdose in the U.S. in 2017. This was more than ever, topping 2016, which was another record-breaking year. Opioids are much to blame for this… they were involved in nearly seven out of 10 of 2017 overdose deaths. In particular, overdose from synthetic opioids (other than methadone) have increased 500% since 2013.

It’s easy to conclude that, in the war against opioids, we are currently losing. There is hope, however.

Research has shown that addiction rehab treatment is not only effective, it more than pays for itself in reduced healthcare and other costs:

• A treatment program is the best way to help those struggling with drug and alcohol abuse – especially long-term treatment with “multiple interventions and regular monitoring” – according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

• For every dollar spent on addiction treatment returns an estimated $12 in savings due to a reduction in healthcare, crime, and criminal justice costs. • On the job, there are savings realized through greater productivity, fewer accidents, and decreased absenteeism and turnover.

Pastor Mike’s Corner View Life's Full of Curveballs To often life begins a slow slide into circumstances that steal your hope and your confidence. Some of these situations might be creeping up on you right now. You have no idea it’s happening, which is precisely how it happens. Everything seems normal… until one day, it doesn’t. Left unchecked, these areas will even affect---and infect---your relationship with God and poison your relationships with others, especially the people you love most. No one dreams about becoming cynical, disconnected, or burned out. Yet it happens daily as our lives collapse under the weight of pride, moral failure, or compromise. Unprepared and unaware, we lose hope, give in, and give up.

Clients can start with day-night treatment and progress through our intensive outpatient, outpatient, and long-term treatment levels of care. Support continues long after clients graduate with our alumni program to help maintain long-term sobriety.

When life throws a curveball at me, I can try to hit it myself or I can let God come in and pinch-hit for me. It’s a choice. Isaiah 46:1-10 tells us that God is our refuge (a safe harbor) and he is our source of strength. When life becomes more than I can stand, I need to kneel. He will see me through tough times if I will only choose to seek his guidance, his wisdom, and his protection. No matter how bad the storms of life get, God is bigger than the storm. To many times we try to weather the storm on our own power and we get beat up. We are to be still and know that he is God (And we are not).
