WELCOmE!

Welcome to authentically awesome self-care! I’m so happy you’re here. I made this coloring book to help you relax, renew, and reflect. It’s also designed to help you connect more deeply with yourself. Whether you’re honoring your personal journey, building your creative skills, or cultivating daily joy, my goal is to create a space that celebrates the best of you.

My core values—creativity, connection, authenticity, and joy—are woven into the journal excerpts and coloring pages of this book. These values remind you that your unique self-love and self-care journey is essential. Remember that you are your greatest masterpiece!

Within these pages, you’ll find plenty of reminders and advice for self-care. But, importantly, your self-care needs are unique. What works best for me and others might not work for you. Keep in mind that if something in this book doesn’t resonate with you, that’s okay! Take what you need, find what’s helpful, and leave the rest.

Whether you are new to coloring or an experienced artist, this book is for you. As humans, we are naturally wired for creativity. Even if you don’t realize it, you are an artist. Let this book serve as a gateway to play and creation. You don’t need to worry about creating the perfect piece. Allow yourself to play, experiment, and design while staying open to new ways of creating. There are endless ways to fill your pages.

The goal of this book is to help you learn more about yourself and share your story through these pages. Your unique perspective tells a story and helps you understand what you desire. Embrace that perspective, even when you feel unsure of where to begin. Let your creativity guide you toward deeper connection, authenticity, and daily joy!

We sat down with Deanna to learn a little more about her and her journey. Join us!

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am an illustrator, former attorney, certified Enneagram coach, and the founder of Mirabelle Creations, a design studio specializing in art and resources designed to bring joy, connection, and creativity. My art blends soulful self-discovery with color, creativity, and connection to help you build deeper relationships, enjoy more-joyful days, and create a life that feels like you.

I live in Lexington, Kentucky, with my husband. He was my high-school sweetheart, and we’ve now been married for over 25 years. We have two kids, Mira and Sam, and an English setter named Milo.

You mentioned you’re an Enneagram coach; can you tell us more? What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram is a self-growth tool that describes nine personality types. Unlike other personality tests, the Enneagram does not categorize people on the basis of their actions but rather on the underlying motivations behind their behaviors. I believe our lives are like a beautiful yet complex novel. The Enneagram acts as an outline or road map for that novel. It can help you

mEET DEANNA

identify main themes, patterns, and narratives in your life, giving you a better understanding of your journey. It also provides a path to live more authentically.

I earned my Enneagram certification after completing training in the Enneagram personality system. Holding the certification shows that I am qualified to use the Enneagram to help others with their self-growth.

In addition to so many beautiful patterns to color, this book has a focus on living authentically. What does that mean to you, and why is it important?

To me, living authentically means letting go of who I think I should be and gently embracing and honoring who I truly am. It involves choosing honesty over performance and my definition of happiness over someone else’s version of success.

Living authentically means I aim to create a life and business that reflect my values, my creativity, and my desire for authentic connection. I no longer chase perfection but instead give myself permission to be both enough and evolving. Through my art, I hope to assist others in coming home to themselves and becoming comfortable expressing their true voice.

What are some ways that you practice self-care and authentic living?

I practice self-care and authentic living not through big actions but through my daily habits. Meditation, mindfulness, and presence are integrated into my everyday routine, such as focusing on gratitude while drinking my morning coffee. Building deeper connections in my relationships is also a form of selfcare for me. I check in with loved ones and share small affirmations of love and appreciation to myself and others each day.

I’m an Enneagram Type 6, which means I tend to spend a lot of time in my head and overthink regularly. Activities that help me get into my body, such as walking, making art, and breathing exercises, are also part of my daily routine for self-care. In my art and business, authenticity means illustrating what I feel instead of just following current trends. It also involves creating art through the lens of the Enneagram, because I know how powerful self-awareness and connection can be.

What advice can you give to readers who want to develop a deeper connection with themselves?

Being present in the moment is the best way to build a deeper

connection with yourself. Observing both your external environment and inner dialogue, with curiosity and without judgment, can teach you so much about yourself. Learning to notice how you respond to the world around and within you can help you understand yourself on a deeper level.

Additionally, learning more about your Enneagram Type can help you learn your core desires and fears. Once I realized that I was an Enneagram Type 6, I began to see why I was so often overwhelmed by anxiety. Understanding the reason behind it helped me feel more empowered to manage my anxiety. I believe that you, too, can gain life-changing insights through the Enneagram.

Do you listen to podcasts or music while creating art?

If so, which ones?

Absolutely! I don’t enjoy creating while watching movies or TV, but I do love listening to music and podcasts. Two of my mustlisten podcasts are The Daily and Kentucky Sports Radio.

While I was working on this coloring book, I listened to many artists repeatedly. If this book had a soundtrack, it would feature songs by two of my favorite female artists: Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves. It would also include tracks by my two favorite fellow Kentuckians: Tyler Childers and Chris Stapleton.

What’s a perfect day for you?

A recent perfect day I had was on a family trip. We spent the day

exploring Zurich and then went to see the Eras Tour concert at the Stadio Letzigrund. It was the perfect day because it included so many of my favorite things: exploring a new place, taking photos of unique locations (some of which inspired pages in this book), spending time connecting with my favorite people, enjoying amazing food, and finally getting to watch a talented artist create an inspiring and connectionbuilding evening with her music.

Where can we learn more about you?

SELF-CARE COLORING TIpS

Coloring is a fun, simple activity that almost anyone can do, but it can also be very relaxing and may even improve your mental health. The repetitive motion of coloring, combined with a meditative and curious mindset, can calm your brain and help you gain a better understanding of yourself. Self-improvement advice and tips can sometimes feel intimidating or out of reach. Instead, this coloring book features a unique format that invites you to reflect on and think about the short passages and affirmations in each chapter while you color the beautiful designs. Nothing is overwhelming, and you can take the book at your own pace. Here are some tips to help you make the most out of your self-care coloring journey!

Find a comfortable place to sit.

Seek out a cozy spot with minimal clutter so that your body can fully relax. Help yourself relax into the present moment while coloring.

Make sure your basic needs are met.

Have you eaten something nourishing today? Are you properly hydrated? Grab a snack and a glass of water before you sit down to read and color!

Set the mood.

Light a candle, brew a cup of tea, or put on some soothing music. Creating a calm environment for reflection and coloring makes all the difference.

Choose materials that bring you joy.

If you have a special set of colored pencils or markers that make you happy or spark your creativity, now is the time to use them. Don’t keep saving them!

Take your time.

This book is full of important lessons and opportunities for reflection and growth—don’t try to absorb everything at once. Spend time thinking carefully about each chapter’s content.

Don’t be afraid to experiment.

Allow your mind to wander while you color; it’s a great way to get curious about color, shapes, and texture. Let your creativity flow and release any expectations!

COLORING SEquENCE

There are many ways to approach coloring in a pattern, and that’s what makes it fun! You might start with a large section of the design, smaller elements, or even the background. Some people prefer to complete one color at a time, while others switch between shapes and details as inspiration strikes. You could also add highlights, shadows, or textures that aren’t already given to you as part of the design. There are no rules—just intuition and enjoyment. Let this book inspire you to explore freely and authentically! To get your color and design brain working, here is one example of how you might build up colors layer by layer.

Flowers: dark and medium pink with yellow accents.

SEEKING pROGRESS OvER pERFECTION

Perfectionism and achievements are often celebrated in our modern culture. For many of us, it begins with the desire to excel in school and continues when we enter our chosen profession. We are told that the more we accomplish and achieve, the happier we will be. Often, this pursuit of success crosses over into unhealthy perfectionism.

Perfectionism happens when we set unrealistically high expectations for ourselves and others. It’s more than a commitment to excellence—it’s an impossible standard to reach. Perfectionism is often fueled by an inner critic that fills us with doubt and insecurity. To cope with this critical voice, we may start seeking perfection, because who can criticize you if you’re perfect?

Integrity, conscientiousness, and attention to detail are valuable qualities. However, when we pursue perfection, set impossibly high standards, and try to avoid mistakes at all costs, it can become unhealthy and counterproductive. This often results in disappointment and unhappiness, even if we are achieving many goals.

The first step toward challenging perfectionism is embracing grace and progress. In this chapter, our journey toward authenticity begins by learning to be more accepting, nonjudgmental, and tranquil. By accepting the realistic, slow pace of our own progress, understanding that as humans we can fail (and that’s okay), and recognizing that perfection is neither achievable nor desirable, we can learn to engage healthily with the pace of our lives.

The following coloring pages give you a chance to release perfection and recognize your own worth. As you go through this chapter, remember that making progress and offering yourself grace is always more valuable than chasing perfection.

Perfectionism is not a quest for the best. It is a pursuit of the worst in ourselves.

pRIORITIzING YOuR NEEDS

Whether you see yourself as a nurturer or not, and whether you are a caretaker for others in your life or not, you might fall into the trap of ignoring your own needs while trying to take care of others or help solve their problems. Sometimes, when we focus on growing our nurturing spirit, we forget to extend that care to ourselves.

It’s not hard to recognize that self-care benefits our mental and emotional health, but recognizing this is much easier than actually practicing it. Even when we understand its benefits, finding or making the time for it can be a struggle. You might see self-care as a luxury you cannot afford. Or maybe you think self-care is selfish because you have come to believe that caring for others is more important than caring for yourself. But the fact is, you cannot pour from an empty cup, so you must make time to fill it, or you will run completely dry. You cannot always prioritize yourself last. Self-care is not selfish!

Self-care offers many potential benefits. A self-care routine can help decrease anxiety, depression, and stress. It may also boost your physical health as well as enhance your productivity and focus. Another key benefit of self-care is that it allows you to invest more in relationships when you come from a place of renewal.

Let the coloring pages in this chapter serve as a reminder to spend time recognizing and tending to your own needs. If emotions or beliefs come up that prevent you from caring for yourself, explore where those ideas come from and whether or not they are still serving you in your life and relationships.

Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.

EmBRACING REST

In the previous chapter, we emphasized that self-care rejuvenates us, enabling us to flourish for our own sakes, as well as for the benefit of others. Self-care is a broad category that includes anything that improves our well-being. Resting, relaxing, and doing nothing are among the most important types of self-care. Rest is essential for all of us, but it is vital for those of us who are ambitious goal getters or who relentlessly seek to achieve.

Having some time with absolutely nothing on our schedule allows us just to be. It helps promote a renewal of the mind and spirit, allowing us time to reflect on who we are, what we desire, and our current values and purpose. If we’re constantly rushing, achieving, and checking things off our to-do lists, we might not pause to consider what we’re doing and why we’re doing it; we may even be running on autopilot. Allowing time for rest can help us develop a deeper awareness of our most-authentic selves. Resting can also aid in recovering from burnout and give us a renewed sense of passion and purpose. Importantly, though, rest does not have to be earned. You simply deserve it as a regular part of your life.

Allow yourself to color these pages at your own pace. If you need time to take a break, do not hesitate to rest. Slow down and allow yourself just to be. Rest might be exactly what your mind, body, and soul need to help you become even more of your most amazingly authentic self.

Every now and then, go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer.

SEEING BEAuTY IN ThE ORDINARY

We all want a beautiful life. We crave exciting adventures, deep emotional connections, and meaningful projects. If our yearning for more causes us to overlook ordinary moments, however, we may miss the beauty in everyday life.

We can find meaning in almost any task, even routine ones, if we focus on the present instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Rather than riding the rollercoaster of chasing excessive highs and avoiding extreme lows, we can simply embrace the calm of the mundane.

Enjoying calm, small, everyday moments is like a little boost of dopamine you can enjoy multiple times a day without it becoming addictive. Who doesn’t feel a little more energized if someone offers them a free coffee or they spot a rainbow? Maybe a tree provides welcome shade on your walk, or you have just the right amount of an ingredient to complete a recipe. You don’t have to wait for others or the universe to cooperate; you can find these moments anywhere if you pay attention.

By enjoying and appreciating the beauty in mundane moments, you not only feel better, but you also shift your focus from what you lack to the abundance already in your life. You are able to dissolve envy with presence and gratitude. Furthermore, you begin to realize how deeply we all, as human beings, are connected to one another, all moving through the world with our routines and our habits, yet with our hearts open to joyful moments.

As you color the pages in this chapter, let your mind clear of worries and release any resentment about not living some imagined dream life. Embrace the truth that, in so many small ways, life already is a dream.

The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.

mAKING mEANINGFuL CONNECTIONS

Being curious and knowledgeable can help us feel prepared for any unknown lurking in the world. Learning new skills and reading about new topics can be satisfying exercises on their own or make us feel like we’re in control.

Sometimes, we research, gather information, and observe because those activities feel safe. To truly get the most out of life, however, we need a willingness to connect and engage, not just observe and absorb.

Making meaningful connections starts with us. When we connect to ourselves, we pay close attention to our feelings and desires as they relate to what we’ve learned and observed. We often turn to learning as a refuge, but real growth begins when we step out of our heads and connect with our hearts, allowing us to embody our experiences fully. By connecting to and acknowledging your emotions as they naturally arise, with openness and curiosity, you can begin to transform your knowledge into powerful wisdom.

Connecting with ourselves, in turn, helps us build stronger connections with others. When we connect first with ourselves, we bring more authenticity, empathy, and presence into our relationships with others. Connecting with others allows us to continue to engage more fully with life rather than passively observe it. We start to satisfy our core need for belonging, see interesting new possibilities, identify our most authentic life, and become more openhearted.

You are meant to wade out beyond shallow waters, connecting and understanding on a deep and powerful level. As you color the pages in this chapter, consider ways in which you may be observing life instead of truly engaging in it.

We are neurobiologically wired for connection.

Letting go of Worry

When we begin to overthink decisions or get caught in a worry spiral, it might be because we have forgotten that our biggest challenge is within our own minds. Worries and fears can take hold, but we must remember that we are meant to have a spirit of love and strength, not a spirit of fear.

Take a moment to consider a pebble dropping into the center of a still pond. That pebble will result in a series of ripples in the water. But those ripples will eventually fade away, and the pond will return to still quietude. Worries are just like that pebble. They might cause some initial ripples, but eventually their impact will fade, and your mind will return to calm.

This is not to say that you should simply ignore your worries and fears. After all, they are there to tell you something. But you should try to acknowledge them, listen to what they have to say, and then let them pass, like ripples, instead of clinging to them (or allowing them to cling to you).

If you often find yourself overthinking, you might benefit from learning to lean into your own intuition. Take a deep breath and remember that your intuition is guiding you toward something better. Trust in your intuition and dreams. This trust can help you stay calm and strong amid chaos. When you act from a place of calm, you can feel confident and at peace with where your life is heading. You can also have faith that everything in life will unfold just as it should.

Let this chapter bring you calm and comfort, soothing your worries. Remember, you can create a life that prioritizes what matters most while also choosing relaxation, peace, and joy.

You have everything you need for complete peace and total happiness right now.

FINDING JOY IN ThE pRESENT

Searching for the next adventure is like chasing a drop of sunshine: It’s something golden, beautiful, and always just out of reach. Enthusiastically planning for the next big thing may make us feel like we are taking concrete steps toward true happiness, but in doing so, we may risk missing the joy that is already unfolding around us. We do not need to plan only big, elaborate adventures or experiences to find joy. We can discover, all around us, small adventures that fill us with happiness. Exploring and trying new things can happen right in our own backyard. Even stepping just a little beyond our comfort zone or facing new challenges can be exciting miniature adventures. Small adventures help us build resilience, courage, and self-awareness while the stakes remain relatively low.

By shifting your perspective on what defines an adventure, you can become more engaged with your life as it is right now. You will begin to discover joy here instead of always searching for it in the next best thing.

Enjoying the present moment and everything it offers helps us stay connected with our surroundings and more grounded in our current experiences. When we focus on what is happening in the right now instead of constantly looking toward the future, we stop missing out on all the wonder of unique moments, the excitement of meeting someone new, or the happiness of forming deeper connections with others.

As you color the pages in this chapter, consider not only what your next adventure could be but also how past adventures have helped you become more present in the moment. Reflect on the exciting opportunities you have been given because of your presence.

Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.
-ALBERT CAMUS

I will remember to enjoy the journey, not just the destination.

I will explore my current life with presence and groundedness.

Every step I take, no matter how small, is its own new adventure.

I celebrate the abundance of opportunities surrounding me right now.

I know that leaving my comfort zone leads to extraordinary growth.

I will remember to enjoy the journey, not just the destination.

In what scenarios do I often lose sight of where I am while focusing on where I’m headed? What approach can I use to help myself refocus?

LOvING BOLDLY

Life should be lived boldly, fearlessly, and vibrantly, whatever that may mean to you personally, and we should love ourselves unconditionally. Maybe you already feel like you do; perhaps you are full of self-confidence and self-esteem, striving to live every day with courage. No matter where you are on your self-love journey, ask yourself if you are boldly loving others too, because you can use the light inside you not only to empower and strengthen yourself but also to uplift others.

The most-memorable and most-beloved people tend to be those who are generous and kind and who treat others with dignity and respect. I’m sure you can think of a few examples of such individuals from history or in your own life. Acting with compassion, showing empathy, allowing vulnerability, and serving others can be a comforting presence in a world that often feels increasingly hostile and judgmental.

When we boldly choose to love others, we make the world a kinder place. We can love confidently while still honoring ourselves. We don’t have to dull our sparkle or shine to show love. We don’t have to agree completely with others to love them. We can stay true to ourselves, open our hearts, and be a steady force for positive change.

As you color each page in this chapter, explore how loving others boldly will not only help you unlock a new level of self-love but also assist you in your mission to make the word a better place!

I understand that giving love encourages more of it, not limits it.

I open my heart to others.

I guide myself and others with wisdom and compassion.

I can let my unique personality shine while serving others and building connections.

Have there been times in your life when you have held yourself back from something you deeply and authentically desired? Have you ever kept your opinion to yourself to avoid making waves? Have you ever chosen to stay small to avoid being an inconvenience to others?

It is easy to believe that speaking our truth might cause problems. However, making ourselves small is not necessary to maintain peace. Even if holding back our opinion temporarily preserves peace, it could cost us more than it’s worth. Sometimes, using our voice can actually bring peace and harmony to us and those around us. At other times, speaking up and achieving something with our voice can be more important than simply keeping the peace in the moment.

The world needs each of our unique voices. We all have a story that needs to be shared. Our voices can inspire beautiful change in the world. Sharing our stories can lead to greater acceptance or understanding in others.

We do not have to wait for the perfect moment or be invited to share our wisdom. It’s okay to speak our truth and act confidently in pursuing our dreams and values.

Let this chapter remind you of the importance of your own voice. Even if you highly value peace and harmony, remember that speaking out may be necessary to keep internal peace or to restore calm to your external world. As you color these pages, think about how your voice matters and how you deserve to take up space in the world.

There is no passion to be found playing small-in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.
- NELSON MANDELA

I express and honor my own needs and desires.

I am valuable and deserving of my place in the world.

I am centered and grounded in my decisions.

I take time to express myself verbally, in writing, or both. My voice is a unique contribution to the world.

WhERE TO GO FROm hERE

We are constantly evolving and changing. Like caterpillars undergoing metamorphosis to become butterflies, we too are transforming. Beautiful butterflies remind us that it does not matter what our past looked like— our current transformation can lead to a more majestic version of ourselves.

As we become more self-aware on our journey, we start not only to understand ourselves but also to accept the changes we see in ourselves. New challenges and opportunities no longer need to be seen as obstacles on our paths but instead can serve as the foundation for growth.

As we reflect on our own thoughts, feelings, and actions, we begin to understand the impact we have on our lives and the lives of others. When we practice selfawareness, it guides us to our most authentic selves. We become genuinely and unapologetically who we are meant to be.

As you embrace this more authentic version of yourself, let the pages in this final chapter remind you that you are always growing and evolving. It’s okay if ideas, perspectives, or beliefs that you once held no longer resonate with this awesomely authentic new version of you. I believe that we all seek our true meaning and purpose in life, and the only way to discover this purpose is by experiencing our own unique journeys.

Let this desire to meet your authentic self guide you on a beautiful, lifelong journey of transforming into exactly who you were meant to be!

In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or step back into safety.
