Bethesda Project FY 2021 Highlights and Benchmarks

Guests and residents, like Troiye, a resident at Bethesda North Broad, thrive through our housing and case management support services. Troiye lives with a mental illness that impacts his day-to-day life significantly. Recently, he began to struggle in ways that caused site staff to step in and take creative steps to help Troiye address his mental health symptoms. With a dedicated approach and support from program staff, Troiye became the proud pet father of a female beta fish named Nema. He also helps other residents at the site and provides assistance to staff to help keep the site clean. When asked what his favorite part about Bethesda North Broad is, he said, “the community.” The support and care he receives from residential and social services staff - in addition to the camaraderie and relationships built with both fellow residents and volunteers help him grow and succeed.

Guests and residents flourished thanks to our critical partnerships over the past year • Bethesda Project maintained operations of a City of Philadelphia COVID Prevention Space on Oxford St, which has individual rooms for 44 guests who are at high risk of COVID-19 and opened a new winter shelter at the Church of the Holy Trinity Rittenhouse Square as a part of our Church Shelter Program • The Pew Fund provided a Tech Grant for a new case management database (Apricot 360) Each partnership allowed us to provide enhanced, focused, and impactful services - despite the reduction of overall capacity and walk-up services due to COVID-19 restrictions - by adding two additional sites, receiving a new case management system, and incorporating internships and skills-based volunteering.
