W
hen Broomall resident Scott McCoy was growing up, he and his cousin Brian Staley idolized their grandfather, Sergeant John J. Kelly, a World War II hero who went on to join the police force. They always wanted to find a way to pay back veterans and other frontline heroes, including their wives Jackie and Melinda, both healthcare workers. Now, their families are on a mission to support frontline workers in what they call the “Frontline way.” What started as a “pipe dream” recently became the Frontline Food Company (www.FrontlineFoodCo.com), a food trailer co-owned by the McCoys and Staleys, that specializes in organizing events to raise funds for frontline workers. After graduating from Marple Newtown High School, Scott worked in the construction industry for many years and also considered himself a “foodie.” He and his wife Jackie are
raising their two young children in Broomall. They also run a successful party supply rental business. After the pandemic hit last spring, Scott was seeing changes in the construction business as well as the impact on frontline workers. He began thinking about the concept of a business that could give back to the community. Wanting to do something in food service, Scott discussed the idea with his cousin Brian, a successful local chef who lives with his family in nearby Ridley Park. Together, they brainstormed how they could combine their skills and talents. “Brian and I discussed ideas for how to bring the community together to enjoy food and also raise funds for essential workers,” said Scott. “We wanted to come up with a way to pay people back for their service. What better way than donating part of the proceeds of an event to local heroes?”
