Marco Amura started St. Ives Brewery in 2010 after owning The Queens Hotel in the heart of the town for four years. Running a pub is an all consuming lifestyle that taught him a lot about hard work. The thing he took more than anything from those years was that people love beer and trying new beers when in a new location. This inspired him to create something that St. Ives could call its own.
In the past 12 years Marco has grown the company by focusing on the quality of the beer. Their new unit is home to a state of the art brewery and in-house packaging facility giving them total control of their beer from start to finish.
Their beers are modern takes on classic styles. The core range has a focus on drinkability and
their craft range is hop forward and exciting. Porth Pilsner is the best selling lager that hits the spot; crisp and refreshing with a golden straw hue. They have worked on perfecting the recipes for many years and have settled on something they feel is a market leader. Alba is the flagship IPA; a golden, modern beer that’s hoppy with a subtle malt backbone.
Marco has already created many people’s dream job; making great beer in a wonderful setting and he has big plans in 2023 to see his beers being enjoyed throughout the country.
When you are next in Cornwall, be sure to pop into the brewery tap room and enjoy the view with a pint of St. Ives.

St. Ives, Cornwall You’ve read about the brewery, now enjoy the beer. The hops and malt battle it out for supremacy; there’s a tropical and soft fruit flavour balanced with the oats and wheat
Exeter, Devon Former ‘Taste of the West’ Gold Award winner, this is a classic Best Bitter, gently carbonated with a subtle white head. The initial taste is slightly nutty, then honey and nougat notes develop
Suckley, Worcestershire Learn about Sarah and Hani’s story on ‘A New Life in the Country’ TV show on Channel 5 Catch Up. It pours a clear deep amber with a touch of red berry sweetness on the tongue
Braintree, Essex Now into their seventh generation of brewing, the Ridley family can trace their heritage back to 1842. This limited edition Porter has a strong chocolate spine with 4 different hops
Bakewell, Derbyshire One of the pioneers of the craft beer scene in Britain since 2005, Thornbridge are pretty much brewing royalty. This mahogany coloured malty bitter has hints of pear and apple
Alloa, C. Scotland Scott Williams and the team were recently voted Brewery of the Year by the Scottish Beer Awards. Bolo pours clear golden with a thin white head while tangerine and sherbet flavours mingle in the mouth.
Biggar, S. Scotland A traditional 80/- Scottish ale (the name refers to an ancient beer taxing system) It’s a lovely mahogany colour with hints of liquorice mingling with dried fruits and treacle flavours
York Almost as Yorkshirey as a cloth cap and whippet. This is a classic northern bitter, clear copper coloured with caramel and hazelnut on the nose. We picked up hints of berry and earthy hops on the tongue
Swansea, S. Wales This is a bit of an all rounder – slightly darker, stronger and hoppier than a bitter, maybe more of an ESB. It has a firm malty base, well balanced with notes of caramel and toffee
Ulverston, Cumbria The perfect stout checklist; jet black body – Check, creamy tan head – Check, malty nose – Check, chocolatey flavours – Check, creamy mouthfeel – Check, dry, bitter finish - Check
Cheddar, Somerset The proud holder of 3 SIBA awards, this is a bottle conditioned golden ale with a thick, fluffy head. There are floral hops on the nose and an initial honey and lemon sensation in the mouth
Windsor, Berks. A massive hop bomb of a beer and a great example of a classic West Coast IPA! The nose is pineapple and mango and the head is foamy and frothy. Subtly sweet with a light to medium body
