Golfers not happy about early end for season passes By Ashley Kus Citizen staff
Season pass holders at Timberlin are not happy that their season is being cut short this year. Passes expire at the end of the month, while in previous years the pass was valid for as long as the course stayed open. “The season pass holders will not pay to play at Timberlin after our passes expire. We will travel to other local courses,” said Ken Asal, secretary of the Timberlin Men’s Club and a board member of the Saturday golf group. See Passes, A14 | Kate Liburdi, submitted
Twins prefer giving on birthday By Ashley Kus Citizen staff
Instead of playing with birthday presents, Willard Elementary School students Ariel and Dario Liburdi donated $405 to the Red Cross. “I was really proud of them,” said their mother, Kate Liburdi. “It’s a real privilege to be in a situation where you are able to donate to others.”
Family and friends who attended the 7-year-old twins’ birthday party in September brought monetary donations as well as canned food for the local food pantry. The concept of not asking for birthday gifts is a family tradition, said Kate Liburdi. After doing some research, the family decided to request donations for the Red Cross Baton Rouge Relief Fund. In August, devastating floods hit the Baton Rouge area.
On Nov. 8, the twins brought their donation to the local Red Cross. “We can’t thank Ariel and Dario enough for their generous donation to the Red Cross,” said Mario Bruno, CEO American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region. “What an amazing way to give back to their community in honor of their birthday. We are grateful for
Town fire departments keep tree lighting going By Ashley Kus Citizen staff
