The Veterans Commission will hold an outdoor concert at the end of the month to celebrate the completion of phase two of work at Veterans Memorial Park. “We want to make it known to people,” said Peter Galgano, the town’s veteran contact person and a member of the commission. “We really have to get the word out.” The park’s newest feature called “America’s Wars Walkway” was completed last year as part of phase two of the park project along with a bridge connecting memorials. Berlin High School may have to wait another month to reach substantial completion of the ongoing renovations. The project was supposed to be done by the end of this month. The gloomy skies over Fiddlehead Fern Fairy Village Sunday morning, Sept. 18 did not dampen the enthusiasm of those present. Volunteer Park, located at 1041 Farmington Ave., has been transformed into a fairy village for the month of September. More than 20 fairy houses, nestled into the plants and landscape of the tiny park, were created by both children and adults from Berlin. This is the first fairy village in town and the event is hosted by Scraptivity, a creative arts re-use store in Berlin. The unifying theme of all the fairy houses is that they each include a touch of nature. Under the gazebo, Scraptivity teacher Peggy Loehr, was helping the Blair sisters make clay fairies from Model Magic.
