Bentonville Parks and Recreation has established a code of conduct to ensure safety and enjoyment and reserves the right to deny admission and/or take disciplinary action against any individual violating the code of conduct. A violation includes, but is not limited to, the use of obscene language or gestures, disorderly conduct, theft, public intoxication, use of drugs, sexual misconduct, indecency, harassment, failure to cooperate with staff, possession of weapons of any kind, non-compliance with established policies and rules, an unlawful activity and any other behavior deemed offensive or unacceptable. Staff will enforce this code of conduct.

Unlimited access to the Bentonville Community Center (BCC) including unlimited fitness classes at the BCC and the DAC, along with unlimited aquatic access at the BCC and the Melvin Ford Aquatic Center. This only excludes programs such as camps, swimming lessons and sports programs. Programs such as summer camps, adult volleyball leagues or adult basketball leagues will not require memberships. Those programs will be fee-based per team. Camps and other programs will have member / non-member fees. Annual membership must be paid by cash, check or credit card in a one-time installment. This fee is non-refundable/non-transferable. Monthly membership will be automatically drafted from member’s bank account on a monthly basis.

See consistent results while burning a high number of calories and improving cardiovascular endurance in this non-impact class. Whether you’re a beginner or avid cyclist, this class is for you — it’s modified for all levels!

Instructor focuses on fun and challenging rides with steady progressions towards the end of each format. Different rides include but are not limited to intervals, strength, split rides, race day, combo, and variety. 30-50 minutes.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga is designed for anyone who wants a less vigorous and healing practice. This class is also suitable for those with muscle/joint pain, stiffness, weakness, fatigue, or recovering from injury or surgery. Includes yoga stretches, movements, and breathing. Modifications are taught to help more people practice safely and sustainable. Appropriate for new students as well as students who have been practicing yoga for a while. 60 minutes.

Group X

It’s like having a personal trainer only in a group setting. Together we focus on Cardiovascular Endurance, Speed, Power, Agility, Accuracy, Coordination, Balance, Flexibility, Strength, and Stamina. We focus on programmed workouts that incorporate all of the above with specific goals that build each week. We will hit all three energy systems and access hormones which lean you out, build muscle, and help with recovery. We will use all the equipment within the gym as well as do some workouts outside.

Interval Cycling

These rides focus on specific work efforts alternated with recovery periods. These may be easier in intensity (aerobic intervals) where work intervals are longer in length (5-15min) with shorter recovery periods. Higher intensity intervals (anaerobic intervals) are also offered and will be more intense with shorter work intervals (15sec - 3min) and longer recoveries.

A good fitness base is recommended for this 30-minute high-intensity class. 30 minutes.

Pilates

Classes flow through a series of controlled exercises that engage the mind while conditioning the total body. The combination of strength and flexibility training improves posture and balance, creates long, lean muscles, and aids in stress reduction. Based on the newest trend in land exercise, enjoy creative water exercise sequences that use a noodle as a ballet barre for both stability and challenge. Stroller Bootcamp

Gear up your fitness routine and bring baby along for the ride. We’ll incorporate the strollers into our cardio, strength training and balance workout. This workout is scalable for moms at all fitness levels.

School of Fitness: Youth Fitness Circuit Series

The youth fitness circuit series is designed to challenge, educate, and improve the fitness level of our youth population. Class is designed for youth ages 12-15 years old, and replaces the youth strength certification. Participants will develop and practice an understanding of gym rules and proper etiquette while learning basic exercise anatomy. Youth will build confidence with exercising and lifting weights. Youth should expect class time, workouts, and team challenge throughout the session. After session is complete youth will have the confidence and knowledge to be in the workout area solo. 90 minutes.

Senior Functional Fitness Assessment

Take these simple fitness test items in order to measure key physical abilities needed to perform common everyday activities. Program specifically designed for older adults that have not consistently participated in a regular exercise program 2-3 days for the past 3 months. Advance registration is required which includes pre-screening paperwork.

Personal Training for older adults 50+ years of age.

Get your little one moving and channeling their energy with music, movement, balance, and coordination in a fun, friendly class! Basic dance steps and creative movement games will encourage children to discover the different ways they can move and groove to the music. This type of class includes mom or dad or another loved one participating in the class along with their little dancer to help encourage, model, and keep everyone on track. Ballet & Tap Combo

Ballet and tap are great ways for young children to work on focus, self-discipline, coordination, rhythm, and most of all, have fun! Students will learn basic ballet technique and terminology both using the barre and floor as a foundation for this and other styles of dance and will learn to combine basic positions and steps into combinations. Students will learn fundamental tap steps and rhythms, adding increasing more difficult and fun combinations as students gain confidence and experience. No experience necessary! Dance Recital will be held Saturday, May 6th so it is recommended child registers for multiple months.

KIDS DANCE RULES

All students in ballet/tap combo classes are required to wear appropriate dance clothes. This consists of a leotard and tights. Students may wear Soffe style shorts or dance skirts over their leotard.

Jazz/yoga pants or other fitted athletic pants with a tank top or fitted t-shirt are acceptable for hip hop. No baggy clothes please.

Students must have their hair pulled back in a bun, ponytail, pigtails, etc. Hair should be out of the face and off of the neck.

Students are expected to wear the appropriate shoes for the class they are in. Pink ballet shoes and black tap flats are preferred for the ballet/tap combo classes. Jazz shoes or dance sneakers are preferred for hiphop. Sneakers are also acceptable for hiphop class.

T-shirts and shorts are not acceptable dance attire.

This class is designed to create situations to move multi-directionally and in multiple planes - running, jumping, climbing, skipping, crawling, etc.- using stories and games that involve a variety of movement patterns and ball skills that create participation, interaction, and confidence! With each Adventure, kids will learn how to accelerate, decelerate, produce and resist force, balance, and control their bodies. This class guides kids through a low or no pressure program of 45 minutes of group fitness based on a story or fantasy scenario that provides situations for improvement. With the added story that unlocks your child’s imagination, it’s engaging and fun! Participants must be potty-trained.

The Super Sports Kids program is ideal for any child that wants to have fun playing sports with the helpfulness of Mom or Dad! This is an excellent opportunity for you to spend quality time with your child learning basic coaching skills while developing your child’s social interactions with support and confidence. Bentonville Community Center (1101 SW Citizens Circle) Join the Bentonville Community Center as we look back and celebrate Dr. Kings historic “I Have a Dream”speech.

We are hosting an essay contest for students in NWA divided into 3 age groups: 6-10, 11-16, and 17+. Students will rewrite their version of the “I have a Dream Speech” that applies to their lives and issues of today. Essays will be submitted by email to kpayne@bentonvillear.com by January 6th.

We will invite the top 5 essays in each age division and announce the winner to read their speech to the audience.

The NWA MLK Council will judge the essays.

Three paragraph maxium on all essays.

Refreshments will be provided to all in attendance.

Event is open to the public.

A one day camp of educational entertainment full of fun hands-on science for 4 to 13 year olds, and parents are welcome to stay at no charge!

Activities include rocket building and launches (kids get to build their own Estes model rocket to take home). Awesome slime making, T-Rex Dinosaur tooth (fossil) casting, laser and light show, and more make the day just fly by with a final lesson of the science behind the invention of cotton candy.

Join Marcus Monk as he presents the “Arkansas Hoops Skills Academy” at the Bentonville Community Center! This camp will focus on the basic fundamentals of the game including shooting, dribbling, and passing.

Coaches will put an emphasis on breaking down the basic essentials to become a complete well-rounded basketball player. On top of great coaching, we will make every day a fun, enjoyable experience as coaches mix in creative basketball related games that are jam packed with fun and put an emphasis on team work and sportsmanship! Presented by BHS Volleyball Head Coach Michelle Smith Bentonville Tigers Volleyball takes the energy and excitement of this great team sport and puts it all together into one fun-filled skills clinic! All aspects of the game are taught through drills and exercises that focus on passing, setting, hitting and serving. This co-ed program is designed for the beginner to intermediate player and will incorporate essential life-lessons such as teamwork and sportsmanship. Our highly skilled & national experienced Bentonville High School volleyball staff will assist each athlete in developing the fundamental skills of the game through game-based drills and game specific techniques aimed at developing the whole player. Every camper will receive a certificate of participation, Camp Bentonville t-shirt, and fun camper awards will be given out daily!

Learn to paint with acrylics with all the basic acrylic painting tips and techniques you’ll need in order to get great results. We will cover the appropriate brushes to use and which medium can create different results. The class will also focus on brush strokes, blending techniques and much more. You’ll learn everything you need to know to make representational work as well as abstract.

If you want to learn photography or just need a refresher this class is for you! This 6 week class will cover basic photographic skills & techniques.

Classes offer instruction and discussion on camera functions, lenses, exposure & different lighting situations. We will discuss composition, photographing different subjects, the differences between software that are available, how to handle raw files and file storage, and demonstrate how to do minor fixes to photographs. Come join us and learn how to take great photographs!

Ever wonder how photographers get that nice silky look on waterfalls?

Or how to take photographs that reflect the splendor of landscapes and the captivating details of nature? This two hour class will teach you the essential tools and techniques needed to get the most from your images and digital camera and give you suggestions and ideas on how and where to take superior landscape or waterscape photos!

Bentonville Parks & Recreation offers a recreation youth soccer program for girls and boys ages three-High School. As a part of a comprehensive approach to community recreation, this program focuses on participation, sportsmanship, and skill development. Along with our recreation league, we also offer Little Kickers. Little Kicksters Soccer is an introductory program for children. Little Kicksters is limited to the first 100 registered participants and consists of fun activities and games designed to introduce players to the fundamentals of soccer.

High School Soccer League High School Soccer League: Bentonville Parks and Recreation and Sporting Arkansas are offering a coed High School soccer league again for the spring season. Sporting will be providing professional coaches for each team. The format of this league will be 7v7. Practice and game will take place Monday nights at 7:15pm and Wednesday nights at 6pm and 7:15pm at Memorial Park Soccer Complex.

Ages 4-19

The +1 Program is an opportunity for players registered with Bentonville Parks & Recreation to receive additional training from the Sporting Arkansas professional coaching staff. Players that are excelling in recreational competition and training are a great fit for this program; bridging the gap between the recreational game and the competitive game. This program will also give players a glimpse into the training demands and work ethic expectations for all members of the Sporting Arkansas Soccer Club. Take your game to the next level!

The Musketeers program presented by Northwest Arkansas Fencing Foundation teaches the fundamentals of fencing such as footwork and sword technique in a fun atmosphere! Kids will enjoy learning this Olympic sport while improving stamina, speed, agility, balance, and coordination. All equipment is provided including swords, protective jackets, underarm protection, masks, and gloves. Learn how to hold a sword and the tricks of sword fighting!

Little Slugger

Girls ages 3-4

Lil’ Sluggers is a 4-week introductory softball program for girls ages 3-4. This program is an activity-based program that avoids the use of game formats and teams, to keep youth involved more throughout the program. Children will develop fundamental skills for softball like throwing, baserunning, catching, and fielding through activities, games, and instruction. Participants will attend eight 45-minute sessions, receive a program t-shirt, and a completion medal. Children and parents, both, participate together in this activity to learn and grow together in an environment set up for fun. Join us with your child and get out and be active with our Lil’ Sluggers program.

Youth Fall Softball

Through our partnership with Bentonville Youth Softball League (BYSL), our youth softball program is offered for girls ages 4 -14. Our softball program focuses on participation, sportsmanship, and skill development.
