Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service Business Safety Team
The Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service Business Safety Team plays a vital role in helping businesses across Cheshire understand and comply with fire safety regulations. Their primary mission is to support the safety and resilience of local businesses by offering expert guidance, free advice, and educational resources aimed at reducing the risk of fire and protecting lives, property, and livelihoods.
The team offers a wide range of free fire safety advice to business owners, landlords, managers, and responsible persons under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This includes practical guidance on completing fire risk assessments, identifying, and managing hazards, and ensuring that fire detection and warning systems, escape routes, and emergency procedures are in place and effective. They provide tailored support across various sectors such as retail, hospitality, care homes, factories, offices, and more.
In addition to advice, the team delivers education and support through workshops, webinars, and on-site visits, helping business leaders build confidence in their fire safety responsibilities. Their aim is to educate and empower organisations to create safer working environments. Where necessary, the team works collaboratively with businesses to help them achieve compliance before enforcement becomes necessary.
The Business Safety Team also works proactively with local authorities, licensing bodies, and building control teams to promote fire safety from the design stage through to occupation. They also support new and growing businesses with startup advice, ensuring fire safety is embedded from the beginning.
By providing accessible, expert-led support, the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service Business Safety Team helps reduce fire risks, safeguard employees and customers, and promote a culture of fire safety awareness throughout Cheshire’s business community.
