WAV E I N T E R F E R E N C E The e ffec t o f mo irĂŠ c an be se en in many diffe re nt a nd unintende d situations. Caused by wave inte rfe rence patterns, the aim o f this pro ject was to utilise the plasticity of the wood vene er provide d to c reate a physical re pre sentatio n o f no t only the waves, but the wave interference as we ll.

Using the input parameters, the python script calculates the dimensions for eac h cut and repeats them down the width of the sheet. The resulting lines are shown above.

Veneer was soaked in water for several minutes, then a form was inserted to create the wave shape

PERMEABILITY The inte rsec tio ns o f waves create s a visual texture, with shades of light and dark dancing as the viewe r moves aro und the artefact


ELASTICITY The re pe ating wave-like structure acts like a spring when load is applied, a result of the manipulatio n o f the fo rm o f individual layers by th e wate r treatment


SCALABILITY The spatial sc ulpture/structure can be visualised at differe nt sc ale s, allowing it to be se en from new pe rspec tives
