Dear Parents/Carers We hope you are all well and healthy at this time of the year. As I am sure you are aware it is important that the children are wrapped up warm with an appropriate coat over this cold period. In addition, can I remind parents that each child must have a bag and the correct equipment for school. I was shocked to see a young student with a can of energy drink for school. A can of energy drink has more than 40g of sugar, 8 times the daily recommended limit. We will confiscate any drink from pupils in school as this is not an appropriate balanced drink for young pupils. As we enter the second spring term tests and exams become a lot closer. Years 1, 6, 11 and 13 pupils will be preparing for their exams with some internal testing, exam preparation and key work from staff. Please talk with your child about their exams. How are they feeling? How can you help? Be as supportive as you can. If we work together we can help the pupils to do their very best. Can I thank those parents who park considerately around school and think of the safety of our children. Your thought when parking and driving will keep our children safe. Can I remind all parents that we do not authorise holidays for children, extended absences to visit relatives overseas or unnecessary trips abroad. Parents choosing to take these trips will be open to a penalty notice and fine from Derby City Council. Holidays and trips must be taken during the 13 weeks school holidays. Finally can I thank all of those parents who send their children off to school in full school uniform. It makes us proud to see so many of our pupils well presented and a credit to the school but also yourselves. Many thanks and well done. I wish you all a good half term break.
