Letter from the Development Committee Chair

LETTER FROM THE

Development Committee Chair

Since our founding year, nearly 100 years ago, our community—faculty, trustees, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, and special friends— have generously supported the Belmont Day Annual Fund. This year was another example of excellence and dedication by our community.

As we began the journey of navigating the school’s reopening, it was evident that our community was ready to help in every way possible. It was an extraordinary demonstration of the community’s strength, and a true reflection of our mission and values. The community support came in the form of time, expertise, relationships, and philanthropy. This made it all possible.

In efforts to defray the unforeseen expenses of COVID-19 we launched the annual giving program with two campaigns: Belmont Day’s Annual Fund with a goal of $660,000 and the COVID-19 Relief Campaign with a goal of $700,000. Although the challenge was a bit daunting at first, our supporters, including you, rose to the occasion. We not only met the collective goal of $1.36 M, but we surpassed it by raising $1.58 M. This recordbreaking annual giving year would have not been possible without the effort of 833 donors, including our incredible current parent community reaching 98% annual fund participation, as well as 100% trustee and faculty participation.

The annual fund and the COVID-19 Relief Campaign were necessary revenue streams in our operating budget, along with other revenue sources like summer programs and tuition. Yes, the amount raised is impressive, but the high level of participation is the most inspiring. A high level of participation is a tangible demonstration of our community’s belief in the school, its mission, and promise to future generations. Our community made it possible for Belmont Day to provide an excellent education that inspired and challenged every student, while keeping health and safety at the forefront.

Thank you to our generous volunteers, including our dedicated trustees and development committee members. You continue to be the extension of the development team that allows for this success. We are grateful for the generosity, patience, partnership, and kindness that every community member displayed.

Sincerely, Catalina Guillermety P ’21 ’25 Development Committee Chair

“The generosity and understanding I witnessed this year have inspired me in ways I never thought possible. I have a renewed sense of the strength and dedication of our community.”
