L’Onice Bianco è una varietà pregiata e rara. Molto popolare all’epoca degli antichi Greci, Romani, ed Egizi era considerata simbolo di lusso.

Estratta dalle cave dell’Arabia Saudita e dell’Iran, dal tipico colore bianco di fondo, è arricchita da pennellate circolari di colore bianco più chiaro o da venature color giallo, che la rendono unica.

PAKISTAN GREEN ONYX MARBLE T2 LID L’Onice calcareo è il marmor alabastrum dei Latini ove Alabastrum deriva, come dice Plinio, da una fortezza detta “Alabastra”, costruita a Tebe in Egitto e dove vi erano numerosissime cave usate per l’edificazione dei templi.

L’Onice alabastrite, in verde chiaro è originaria del Pakistan.

Traslucida e con zonature variegate da millimetriche a centimetriche nella tonalità del verde/marrone.

Calcite alabaster is the Marmor alabastrum of the ancient Romans, its name deriving, according to Pliny, from the “Alabastra” fortress in Thebes, Egypt, an area rich in quarries where materials for temples were excavated.

Originating in Pakistan, the light green alabastrite onyx is translucent with green and brown marbling on a scale of millimetres to centimetres.

Illuminated from below by our LED base, it creates an atmosphere of magical allure.

Honey Onyx is a precious, crystalline material that comes from caves in Iran, Azerbaijan or Turkey.

Questo prezioso e particolare materiale è di colore giallo ocra con striature più scure che virano dal marrone al color miele.

This precious and unique material has a yellow-ochre colour, with darker veins that range from brown to honey.

Il marmo Azul Paradise è una quarzite originaria del Brasile.

Possiede un caratteristico colore azzurro pastello screziato e trasparente di notevole fascino.

Questo tipo di marmo è stato formato da enormi depositi di sabbie sono diventati, circa un miliardo di anni fa, delle quarziti molto dure in un grosso ed esteso bacino nello stato di Bahia.

Le quarziti sono rocce metamorfiche, cioè rocce che, sottoposte in lontane ere geologiche a forti pressioni ed elevate temperature, hanno subito profonde trasformazioni chimiche e fisiche.

Azul Paradise marble is a quartzite originating in Brazil.

It has a characteristic mottled and transparent pastel blue colour with stunning charm.

This type of marble was created by huge sand deposits which, around a billion years ago, became very hard quartzites across a large and extensive area in the state of Bahia.

Quartzites are metamorphic rocks, i.e. rocks that were subjected to intense pressure and high temperatures many geological eras ago, causing them to undergo profound chemical and physical transformations.

Il Travertino è una roccia sedimentaria calcarea molto utilizzata a Roma, fin dal I millennio a.C.

Travertine is a calcareous sedimentary rock which has been much used in Rome since 1000 B.C.

La colorazione naturale varia dal bianco latte al noce.

Its natural colour varies from milky white to walnut.

Nella cava “delle Fosse” presso i piani di San Clemente a Tivoli si estrae il travertino più chiaro, più tenero e più bucherato: questa cava fu scelta da Lorenzo Bernini per estrarre i travertini impiegati nella costruzione del celebre colonnato di piazza San Pietro in Vaticano.

The palest, softest and most porous travertine is mined from the “delle fosse” quarry on the plains of San Clemente in Tivoli. Lorenzo Bernini chose this quarry for the mining of the travertine used to construct the celebrated colonnade of Saint Peter’s Square in Rome.

La città di Petra scolpita nella roccia è uno dei siti archeologici più famosi al mondo.

Le rocce sono di arenaria policroma di età paleozoica, una roccia prodotta dalla sedimentazione e dall’accumulo di piccoli granelli di sabbia. Questa roccia essendo organizzata in strati risulta essere molto resistente.

Il lungo processo di ossidazione porta alla formazione di colori e sfumature incredibili tanto che il nome antico di Petra era Reqem che significa “variopinta”.

The city of Petra, carved into the rock, is one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites.

This polychrome sandstone rock dates back to the Paleozoic age and is produced by the sedimentation and accumulation of small grains of sand. As it is formed in layers, this rock is extremely resistant.

The long oxidation process leads to the formation of incredible colours and shades, so much so that the ancient name for Petra was “Reqem” meaning “colourful”.

PORTORO MARBLE T2 LID

Estratto in Italia nei comuni di Portovenere e La Spezia, il marmo Nero Portoro è naturalmente elegante.

Il nome deriva da Portorose (porta d’oro) per le sue striature giallo oro.

In epoca romana si fece largo uso del marmo Portoro nelle ville imperiali.

Utilizzato dai genovesi nella costruzione di un forte posto sul promontorio occidentale del Golfo di La Spezia, si diffuse poi anche al di fuori della Liguria in particolare in Francia, per decorare palazzi come Versailles.

Nel primo ‘900 è stato esportato anche negli Stati Uniti dove, per esempio, ha vestito la sala di proiezione alla Paramount.

Naturally elegant Black Portoro marble is quarried in Italy near Portovenere and La Spezia. The name derives from Portorose (golden door), so named for its abundant yellow or golden veins.

In Roman times it was widely used in imperial villas.

The Genoese used it to build a fort on the western promontory of the Gulf of La Spezia. Its use then spread beyond Liguria and particularly to France, where it was used to decorate such regal dwellings as the Palace of Versailles.

In the early twentieth century exportation also began to the United States, where it decorates the projection room of Paramount Studios.

BUBINGA WOOD T2 LID Il Bubinga è un legno africano proveniente principalmente dal Cameroun e dal Gabon. Gli alberi sono alti fino a 30 metri, con dei fusti cilindrici.

Di colore rosso-rosso bruno, con venature purpuree, è un legno pesante, paragonabile come peso al Palissandro.

Altamente decorativo, specialmente quando una grana irregolare od ondulata si combina con una variazione naturale di colore.

Bubinga is an African wood produced principally in Cameroon and Gabon.

The trees may grow to 30 meters in height, with straight, cylindrical trunks.

Pinkish red to reddish brown in colour with purple veins, it is a heavy wood comparable to rosewood.

It is highly decorative, especially in the combination of irregular or rippled grain with natural colour variations.

WOOD T2 LID Nell’Antico Testamento si narra che con il legno del cedro del Libano vennero edificate le colonne del Tempio di Salomone; da sempre, il pregiato Cedro del Libano è simbolo di potenza e forza.

Già al tempo degli antichi Fenici, il cedro libanese veniva utilizzato per il suo legno massiccio nella costruzione di imbarcazioni sicure e piccole navi.

The Old Testament describes the wood of the cedar of Lebanon being used to build the colonnades of the Temple of Solomon.

Precious cedar wood has always been a symbol of power and strength. At the time of the Ancient Phoenicians the solid wood of the cedar of Lebanon was used to build sturdy boats and small ships.

Il durame presenta tessitura fine e diritta.

Ha durezza piuttosto bassa, durabilità moderata e modesta resistenza all’urto.

The heartwood has a fine, straight grain.

It has a low hardness rating, is moderately durable and does not warp.

BLACK EBONY L’Ebano è un legno duro, compatto dall’elegante colore nero che si ricava da diverse specie di alberi provenienti dalle foreste asiatiche dell’India, Indonesia e Africa orientale.

Pregiatissimo, resistente alle intemperie e alle muffe.

Essendo uno dei legni più pregiati, rari e costosi al Mondo, viene spesso venduto al grammo anziché a kilogrammo.

L’Ebano è una delle essenze principali per la costruzione di strumenti a fiato del gruppo dei legni (oboi, flauti, soprattutto quelli risalenti al periodo barocco, clarinetti), tasti per pianoforte, tastiere di strumenti cordofoni come chitarra e violino.

Ebony is a hard, dense wood known for its elegant black hue obtained from a number of different tree species growing in India, Indonesia and East Africa.

Highly resistant to weathering and fungal attack, it is one of the main woods used to craft woodwind instruments (oboes, baroque flutes, clarinets), black piano keys, and the fingerboards on stringed instruments such as guitars and violins.

One of the world’s rarest, most prized, and costly woods, it is often sold by the gram rather than the kilogram.

MAKASSAR EBONY WOOD T2 LID Il legno Ebano di Makassar è variegato, marrone scuro e nero e quasi sempre a righe larghe. È molto ricercato per realizzare il tokobashira, elemento caratteristico delle case tradizionali giapponesi.

Considerato un legno eccezionalmente bello, originario dell’isola di Sulawesi è disponibile solo in piccole quantità in quanto la crescita dell’albero è molto lenta.

Makassar ebony is a streaky dark brown or black and almost always wide-striped.

It is highly sought-after for building tokobashira, a distinctive feature of traditional Japanese homes.

Considered to be a exceptionally lovely wood, native to Sulawesi, only small volumes can be sourced as the tree takes an age to grow.

WOOD T2 LID Greci e romani tenevano in gran conto il legno di tuja. Presso i romani si diffonde dopo che Cesare lo usò durante il suo trionfo sui Galli. Una tavola di radica di tuja, di poco più di un metro, poteva essere pagata una cifra enorme, superiore al milione di sesterzi.

Il legno, ricavato dai polloni alla base del tronco, è ricercato per il suo motivo caratteristico e viene impiegato come decorazione su oggettistica e strumenti musicali.

The Greeks and Romans venerated the wood of the sandarac tree. Its popularity spread with the Romans after Caesar used it in his victory over the Gauls. A table made of thuya burl, measuring little over a metre, could be sold for an enormous sum, more than one million sestertii.

The wood, hewn from burls at the base of the trunk, is highly sought-after for its distinctive pattern and is used to decorate ornaments and musical instruments.

ZEBRANO TAPPO “ T2” IN LEGNO

ZEBRAWOOD WOOD T2 LID Il legno di Zebrano è caratterizzato da venature ben dritte con delle piacevoli variazioni di colore dal bruno scuro al beige-giallo. Originario del Camerun, Gabon, Congo e Guinea Equatoriale il suo fusto cresce dritto e regolare fino a raggiungere i 40 metri di altezza.

Lo Zebrano venne impiegato largamente nella produzione di mobili intorno agli anni 30, ed ora sta ritornando in auge. È un materiale prezioso e a rischio estinzione (la sua presenza è limitata anche ad un solo esemplare per chilometro quadrato), la cui estrazione è rigorosamente mantenuta sotto controllo.

Zebrawood is characterized by its straight grain and attractive colour contrasts between dark brown and beige-yellow.

Growing in Cameroon, Gabon, Congo and Equatorial Guinea, its trunk grows straight and regular up to a height of 40 meters.

Zebrawood was used widely in furniture making around the 1930s and is now coming back into vogue.

It is a precious material at risk of extinction (its density may be as low as one tree per square kilometre) and thus harvesting is strictly managed.
