It seems like only yesterday our 2017 catalog was going to print and we were looking forward to opening a new outpost in Vero Beach. Now half way through 2018, we’ve switched gears to focus our energy on creating a fresh, fun next chapter for Belle Cose, customers and friends. And even though the dark circles under my eyes might need a bit of Alpyn Beauty Bar cover-up, I actually find myself reenergized thinking of the major collaborations, expansions and new finds we have slated for this year:

• Belle Cose at Home, opening June 15th • New Pop-Up Shops in the Belle Cose At Home Jewelry Salon, beginning June 15th • Introducing Belle Cose At Home Designer-in-Residence, Colleen Walls • Belle Cose at Jackson Whole Grocer collaboration, beginning June 2018 • The first Belle Cose Concept Home, scheduled to be completed fall 2018 • Western Design Conference Exhibit + Sale collaboration featuring our debut in the Designer Show House • A second location expansion in Vero Beach, opening fall 2018

While planning and daily to do list making, I try to remind myself that saying “yes” to new chapters and adventures is what it means to live life beautifully (or, as some less charitable might say, it’s what got me into this mess!). Joking aside, I truly do think embracing chaos, exploring new avenues and the willingness to take on new opportunity has always served me better than saying “no”. Even though this willingness means new challenges pushing me outside my comfort zone, it always leads me to inspirational people, places and things.

I hope you will join us on our new adventures. We have a stellar line-up of curated visiting jewelry collections.

In addition to the trunk shows you’ve always loved we’re introducing two-to-four-week Jewelry Pop-Up shops at our new Belle Cose At Home boutique. This location, along with the very first Belle Cose Concept Home (which is undergoing renovations as I write), will include a fresh portfolio of home décor. I also hope you will stop by Jackson Whole Grocer to see how we’ve collaborated by expanding their homewares and gift areas.

Tell us why you decided to close your very successful retail store, Willow Creek, and collaborate to design under Belle Cose as Colleen Walls Interior Design? My clients have been so wonderful to me, coming back year after year. I’ve long admired Jane’s impeccable style and great design sense so I immediately thought of her as someone I could naturally collaborate with. To be able to keep my office in the same location while offering my clients the benefits of Jane’s new boutique, Belle Cose At Home, makes it a match made in heaven!

If we were to take a dive into the heart of your design aesthetic, what would we discover?

You’d discover I enjoy creating new aesthetics with

each project. I pride myself in the fact that you won’t walk through one of my client’s homes and say, “This is a Colleen Walls home.” I spend time with my clients getting to know their personalities and lifestyles before choosing paint colors or fabrics. It’s not about me, it’s about them.

We aren’t supposed to have favorites, but if you had to choose, describe your most memorable project? One of my first projects in Jackson Hole was the Amangani Resort. I collaborated with Aman’s preferred designer, Ed Tuttle, who was in France. They’ve remained a loyal and valued client for the almost twenty years since. My team also did the recent clubhouse remodel at Teton Pines Country Club – we gained the most amazing friends from their community, which makes it another favorite project.

It isn’t the project necessarily, but the clients from all over the world who quickly become great friends.

BELLE COSE CONCEPT HOME

Another new and exciting endeavor, and one that complements the launch of our new Belle Cose At Home store, is our “fixer-upper” residential project - the Belle Cose Concept Home. We’re turning a neglected 1962 mid-Century modern house on West Kelly Street into an updated and modern chic dwelling that will be perfect for in-town living.

For the top-bottom renovation, we’re utilizing local talent from Earth Elements (for flooring, tile and cabinetry), Pella Windows (for all new windows) and Bobcat Builders. The home’s lighting, furniture, rugs and accessories featured will all be available throughout Belle Cose stores or boutiques. It’s been so fun diving into the retro vibe this house requires, and we look forward to unveiling it this fall. We hope you’ll stop by during our open house to check it out!

When Jackson Whole Grocer owner Jeff Rice approached us proposing a collaboration, we knew their level of quality and service would make for great synergy. While maintaining and expanding upon an already wonderful housewares, gift & kitchen selection, we couldn’t wait to get back to our roots while adding the Belle Cose touch to one of our Jackson favorites. Belle Cose at Jackson Whole Grocer can be found on shelves June of 2018.

Tell us about Jackson Whole Grocer’s collaboration with Belle Cose - what brought it about? The partnership developed with our desire to continue to improve Whole Grocer’s Home Goods offering for our customers. We feel Belle Cose is a great partner to join us in this endeavor. Jane Carter-Getz and her team are very good at what they do. We are delighted to be partnering with them.

Jackson Whole Grocer’s offerings are vast. What is the best part? A uniquely balanced blend of conventional, natural, specialty and local items that culminate into a unique shopping experience. Whole Grocer ultimately blends food and community in a welcoming setting.

Grocers of yesteryear have changed so much. What do you see as the next big thing in grocery and how will it affect your business? Two things... One being the confluence of grocery stores and food service now referred to as “Groceraunts” in the industry. Customers love the convenience, price points and variety now being offered in many groceries. This is why we have so much focus and space dedicated to food service. The second would be “Ecommerce meets grocery.” We’re developing some very exciting things – so keep an eye out... That’s about all I can reveal at the moment!

You couldn’t have possibly foreseen Jackson Whole Grocer evolving as much as it has. Were you always interested in being a grocer?

My wife Darcy and I got into the business out of a desire to be involved in something community-oriented and for our love of both good food and natural food. We’re thrilled with the store’s evolution thus far and look forward to continuing to serve the community.

What is the most surprising product Jackson Whole Grocer carries?

There are so many, but a fun one right now is Jellycats! These are whimsical and cuddly stuffed animals that are loved by kids and adults alike.

We’ve literally sold hundreds of them.

Who would have thought a grocery store could sell stuffed animals at this level? Watch out for more fun, practical and delightful items coming from the new JWG and Belle Cose partnership.

After opening our first location outside Wyoming this past November we quickly realized just how much there is to love about Vero Beach. Sun, sand and sea, combined with a vibrant community that welcomed us so warmly, make it easy to call this coastal spot our second home.

It's been such a fabulous twelve months… In December our friends at The Scout Guide helped us launch our Wish List program with a holiday fête to remember. Alpyn Beauty Bar offered festive make-overs, Lady in the Wild West served sweet treats and Wildflower Provisions mixed magical Highwater Holiday Punch while guests created Wish Lists to take the guesswork out of gift-giving. February took us to Vero Beach’s luxurious Windsor community in support of jewelry designer Maria Canale’s sponsorship of the Windsor Charity Polo Cup. An enchanting cocktail reception at the Windsor Club House, elegant field-side luncheon, lively polo match and Belle Cose’s retail Pop-Up Shop all contributed to raising funds and awareness for Parkinsons and Alzheimers.

SOMETHING BLUE For her walk down the aisle this past August, Audie Carter-Tracy, enlisted her mother, Ellen Carter and aunt Jane Carter-Getz, to curate a dream ceremony and reception. Playing the part of wedding planners was a slight shift for the sisters but, after helping hundreds of couples with bridal registries at the store, they dove into the challenge.

Deeply touched by her experience volunteering in Africa, Ashley Pittman was inspired to create a sustainable company that would provide employment and business training to local artisans. Today, the designer employs over 75 artisans in Kenya, providing them with fair wages, expansion opportunities and business development training. The collection beautifully reinterprets the power and simplicity expressed in centuries-old African jewelry. Each piece is entirely handcrafted in Kenya featuring re-purposed Ankole cow horn, semiprecious gemstones, bronze and materials indigenous to East Africa.

After graduating from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology, Pamela Froman settled in Paris designing jewelry for top couturier salons, including Guy Larouche and Valentino. Inspiration from Europe’s rich architecture and textiles led the designer to launch her own collection using a special hand-hammering technique she calls, “Crushed.”

Designing couple Carlo Antonini and Kiki Furst trace their jewelry heritage back four generations to 1850. A chic aesthetic showcases inspiration from Carlo’s Milanese ancestry with angular, geometric designs, while Kiki’s influence incorporates soft, graceful lines. Rainbow hued, candy-colored gemstones, along with the detailed and precise workmanship of Italian artisans, are signature characteristics of the collection.
