IN-HERD SEMEN

Summit 3 consignors reserve the right to draw semen for in-herd use - at their expense and at the buyer’s convenience - on any bull in the sale.

Delivery

Animal Deliveries will be made as efficient as possible. Animals will be fed a high roughage ration until May 1 with the purchase price. After May 1, 2024 a cost of $250 a month will be applied. For animals going to Eastern Canada, the transport cost will be of the purchaser. RH will help arranging the truck for efficiency. For America and Mexico health certificate costs will be covered by RH, Transport and brokerage will be at the cost of the purchaser. Overseas purchasers please contact the owner for options.

Warranty

All females will be checked for breeding soundness prior to the sale. All Bulls will be semen tested and vet inspected. We do not warranty for illness or injury following the sale. We highly recommend insuring your purchase. All animals are on a full herd health program and everything is done to have these animals in their best possible condition leading up to the sale date.

Stacking of these genes can cause extremely heavier muscled or double muscled animals. If an animal is a double carrier of either single gene they can not be registered as a purebred. Both of these genes can increase profitability if used properly but with anything do not single gene select and use this as a tool for increased knowledge for breeding.

the Venue and Style

We have switched to a Farmgate Timed Auction format for the 2024 version of the Summit 3 Sale. There will be a great hospitality and an open house day at River Hill Farm on March 30 with some special surprises if you are there in person. The quality of the offering will remain at the highest standard as to be expected.

29 Years in the Purebred Speckle Park Breed, even though it sounds cliche, this is our best offering as a whole and we stand behind that. The cattle are always great, but even better are the people and relationships gained over the years. To be involved with so many great people all across the globe has been an absolute blessing for us at River Hill.

Be sure to go over the offering as it really is splitting hairs between most of them. There really is a bull for every operation, heifer bulls or power herd sires.

Please come on sale day for a great time or at least for a tour beforehand if possible. There is lots of parking at the farm and safe rides back to Maidstone and Lloydminster.

Meet the consignors...

Barry and Elaine are the OG’s of River Hill Farm. They moved onto the current farm in 1974 and have been grain and cattle farming since. In 1995 the first Speckle Park Female was purchased and so began the stud game. They have enjoyed making many great relationships with other breeders and industry specialists over the past 29 years. Barry and Elaine are very excited to welcome everyone to the 14th edition of the Summit 3 Sale. The door is always open and the coffee on for visitors who like to talk about great cattle. March 30 2024 will be a very exciting day for the first ever offering right from the yard at River Hill Farm.

Cory and Katlin Ducherer along with their two beautiful and firey daughters, Hennessy and Scarlett are very excited to be apart of the Summit 3 Sale in 2024. Katlin and Cory were married in 2013 and purchased half of the farm in 2016 from Cory’s Uncle David. Cory has been involved with the cattle since the beginning but has really taken a bigger role when he left the oilfield to farm full time. The Family farm is instilled as many generations have been involved with agriculture in one way or another. The future is bright for those that can feed the world. Hennessy has started to get involved as well with showing cattle and times are exciting.

Carla, Mark, Eli and Bo have just ventured into their own stud in the last couple of years. Carla has been involved since the very beginning as the first ever female purchased was used as a 4-H project back in 1995. Carla has since started her own herd under Carmark Cattle and could not be happier with the progress made in the last couple of years. Mark and Carla are very proud to offer their best animals this year with pride and confidence of their futures. Carla has managed the show team for both Carmark and River Hill in the last years and has been a great part of the operation since its inception.

HOW TO BID IN A TIMED AUCTION

Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.

Place Next Bid – to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.

Max Bid Amount – to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller during the sale process. Example of How the Max Bid Works - If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other.

WATCH LIST FEATURE

If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.

SALE ENDING / CLOSEOUT

Most FarmGate Timed Auction sales close racehorse style with extended bidding. What is Racehorse Style Close? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.

How will Extended Bidding work? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

BIDDING CLOSE & FOLLOW-UP

After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidder you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions. Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale manager and/or Sale consignor.
