This May we celebrated World Bee Day. A day to stop and take a moment to celebrate the incredible role bees play in supporting our lives, our food, and our planet.
This globally recognised day is a powerful reminder of the quiet but vital work of bees and beekeepers. Together, they pollinate the food we eat, help produce the seeds that supports plant life which enrich our soils, and contribute to cleaner air and the fresh water we rely on.
Our honey is 100% real, pure, natural, and Australian. This means, when you choose Beechworth Honey, you’re helping safeguard our planet’s biodiversity and helping to protect the bees that pollinate our food supply. As beekeepers, we know firsthand how essential bees are to life on Earth. Sadly, not all honey is created equal and not all choices support the future of bees and Australian beekeepers. With the rising amount of fake and imported honey entering Australia, the delicate balance of our food systems, plant life, and planet is at risk. That’s why your choice matters.
Today, tomorrow, and every day, our mission is to share the wonder of bees and highlight the critical work of Australian beekeepers. Because the more we understand their importance, the more inspired we are to protect them. And protecting bees and beekeepers starts with recognising just how much they give us.
Beechworth Honey starts and ends with bees and nature...

We understand the critical role bees play in supporting our ecosystems. Unfortunately, not all honey is created like ours. Your choice matters, it’s in your hands.
Our bees and beekeepers underpin the food we eat, the air we breathe and the ecosystems we depend on. They pollinate our food supply and help produce seeds that support plant life. This supports overall planet health as plants filter the water we drink, and nourish the soils we rely on.
Choose fresh, pollinated produce
Honeybees are so much more than just honey! They are essential pollinators for most fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. A fresh and healthy food supply depends on bees for pollination.
Choose beautiful, pollinated flora
Honeybees play a vital role in pollination, helping flowers produce seeds that grow to support biodiversity. Bees pollinate flowers which leads to seed formation and the growth of new trees and plants, thriving and healthy ecosystems.
Choose a healthy, pollinated planet
Through pollination, honeybees help produce plant life which absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Their role in plant reproduction also prevents soil erosion and enriches the earth with organic matter. Additionally, thriving vegetation filters rainwater, reduces runoff, and keeps waterways clean.

But… Have you heard of fake honey?
Honey should never be a mystery. Real Australian honey can be traced back to the hive, from bee to beekeeper, tree to table.
Fake honey is honey that has been tampered with, either diluted with sugar syrups, chemically processed, or produced through unnatural methods like force-feeding bees sugar instead of allowing them to forage in nature. How can you tell the difference?
It may look like honey, but is it really honey? Click to learn more.

If you we lucky enough to be able to visit us in Beechworth during March and April we launched Bulbs for Bees, our newest in-store campaign designed to educate and inspire customers to support bees in their gardens during the cooler months when floral sources can be scarce.
Timed to coincide with autumn bulb planting, the campaign was brought to life with a beautifully curated display of our very own bee-friendly bulbs chosen specifically for their rich nectar and pollen qualities.
Bulbs for Bees encouraged action by offering a simple, tangible way for people to create pollinatorfriendly spaces in their gardens during the cooler months, right when bees need them the most. By combining education, seasonal planting, and a strong visual experience, Bulbs for Bees delivered both impact and inspiration.

By planting a variety of bulbs in autumn for blooming in the winter months there can always be something flowering in the garden. Staggered flowering seasons create the ideal bee-friendly garden.

As winter’s chill is replaced by warmer days, hungry bees emerge from their hibernation. Bulbs that flower in late winter and early spring provide essential pollen supporting bees in backyards to breed and expand their numbers again.

Winter blooming bulbs will not only support bees in your garden when they need help the most, they’ll brighten your borders, zhush up your pots, and bring a welcome touch of cheer on even the greyest days.
