We are looking to take on someone from October 2018 from 3pm - 6.30 pm Mon-Fri or Mon, Wed & Fri. Our ISO 17025 accredited Letchworth facility provides commercially accessible ultra-trace level analytical services, using state of the art analytical equipment. Working within our Pesticide Residues team, you will assist the laboratory staff by preparing samples of fruit and vegetables for laboratory analysis. Location: Letchworth, relocating to Bedford in September Duration: 6 months contract (potential of becoming permanent) Responsibilities:   

Follows established procedures in performing cryogenic homogenisation of crop samples. Meets all Quality Control and Health & Safety requirements in performing their tasks. To work as part of a team to ensure that all other routine laboratory tasks are completed, to ensure that the Laboratory operates smoothly.

Qualifications/Experience Required:    

Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities. Good time management skills, organisational skills, attention to detail and a demonstrable ability to cope under pressure. The role does have a significant manual handling aspect, so an ability to cope with the physical demands of the role is a requirement. Prior experience of working in a laboratory is not required as full training will be provided.

Event Supporter - we hold events every other month for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. They take place on either a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. The events are usually either nightclub, gig or karaoke and are held in premises with full licenses. Volunteers will be expected to not drink alcohol throughout the evening. Volunteers may mingle or dance with the attendees, they may help as a steward and ensure that everyone enters the event in a safe manner. Volunteers and members are all there to have fun and a large part of the role is ensuring that everyone is having fun in a safe way. Performing Arts Centre Volunteer - we run a performing arts centre on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday daytime. We have 2 bands, a live internet radio show, we are currently working on a musical and we do arts and crafts. We are always looking for volunteers who have an interest in any of the above to get involved.
