Full head with root smudge highlights

By colourist and balayage expert Jake Nugent using Osmo products

Step #1: Starting with highlights around the nape hairline, section hair horizontally around the hairline. I do this so the client gets the effect when they style their hair up too. Apply White Osmo Ikon Power Lift Dust

Free Bleach White with 20vol/6%

OSMO IKON Cream Developer.

Step #2: Follow this highlighting technique upwards in straight sections until the crown area.

Step #3: Continue with fine slices weaved to get maximum blonde result.

Step #4: This is now hitting what I call the “Money Piece”area. Apply fine weaves again and continue with the same 20%vol/6% here too.

Step #5: For the money piece section, I apply thesandwich technique. I start with a weave and end on a weave, but with fine slices in between.

Step #6: Round the top section, I mix the bleach with 30vol/9% developer. This is because the top will take quicker than the back area, so the vol change gives it more of a boost.

Step #7: After I’ve rinsed the treatment off and towel dried the hair, I smudge the roots with Osmo Ikon Natural Base 6.00 to remove the foil line (but keep it away from the face area blonde) for a cooler base.Ensure you’re leaving the money piece out though whilst smudging.

I then mix Osmo Ikon 10.1 and 9.1 together (both ash blondes to help neutralise any yellow) with Osmo

Ikon Pastel Ice Metallic with 5 vol (for brightness) and apply all over the hair, including the money piece last. Leave on 10 minutes, rinse and then apply the Osmo Super Silver No Yellow Mask for final conditioning and to knock out any remaining brassiness.

Step #8: To style the hair, I spritz with Osmo X.Posed Leavein Treatment that helps to repair and replenish dry and damaged hair without weighing it down. Comb through then apply Osmo X.Posed Blow Dry Balm for a perfectly smooth blow dry.
