Deputies Government shutdown is over, White House says take down illegal indoor marijuana grow in Temple City; guns recovered in Covina On Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at 2pm, Investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Operation Safe Streets Bureau - Asian Gang Team executed a fourlocation search warrant after a two-month long illegal cultivation of marijuana investigation in Temple City, unincorporated community of Valinda, and city of Covina. Over two hundred marijuana plants and cultivation equipment were seized from the residence at the 4800 block of Glickman Avenue in Temple City. Victims identified in El Monte murder suicide Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are still assisting El Monte Police Department officers in the investigation surrounding the circumstances of the shooting death of a man and two women. The victims, one male and two females were pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday evening around 7:30 PM. It appeared initially to be a murder suicide according to initial reports. Detectives and neighbors continued trying to make sense Wednesday of the fatal shooting of two women and a man in an apparent double-murder-

suicide in an El Monte garage at an El Monte home. Harry Maldonado, 65, of El Monte, Evie Maldonado, 32, of El Monte and Diana Amaya, 38, of no known address, were found dead inside the garage of home in the 9900 block of Marshall Street after police responded to a report of a shooting about 7:30 p.m. Investigators described the alleged shooter, Harry Maldonado, as Evie Maldonado’s father. The relationship between Amaya and the other two victims is unknown. One of the victims was the daughter of the male and the other female was

allegedly a friend. There have been numerous reports of constant arguing at the house on Marshall Street prior to this tragedy. L.A. firefighter accused of beating woman who was feeding feral cats A Los Angeles firefighter faces felony battery and other charges for allegedly beating a woman feeding stray cats in his neighborhood after she threw cat kibble at him during a verbal altercation, according to the Associated Press published reports say 37-year-old Ian Justin Eulian, a fire engineer, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday. His 70-year-old mother, Lonieta Antonietta Fontaine, is due in court Friday to also face charges connected to the Sept. 14 beating of an unidentified 47-year-old woman. Prosecutors say Ian Eulian yelled at the woman for feeding stray cats. When she threw kibble at him to get him to back off, he allegedly punched her several times. Lonieta Fontaine is accused of slapping the woman. A video camera apparently caught the disputes.

War of 1812 veterans to be honored by women’s group Two War of 1812 patriots buried in Los Angeles County will be recognized On Wednesday, October 23, at 11:00 am, the Joel Brigham Chapter of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812 will host a wreath-laying ceremony at the graves of two of Los Angeles County’s veteran soldiers. John Holt (1792-1872) and Wiley Richie Wilson (1800-1878) fought in the War of 1812, a pivotal event in American history. They are buried, along with many of the areas’ founding families, at the historic Savannah Memorial Park, located at 9263 Valley

Boulevard in Rosemead. The event is free and the public is invited to attend. The October 23rd ceremony is part of a nationwide effort to commemorate the bicentennial of the bloody conflict between the British Empire and the newly formed United States of America, fought between 1812-1815. For more than a century, the members of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812, have dedicated themselves to patriotism, preservation of documents and relics, and

education. These goals are as relevant in today’s society as they were when the organization was founded in 1892.
