Pan Am Games
Wasaga Beach resident and business owner Mark Kirby is excited to be joining the team to represent Canada at the Senior Pan American Water Ski event, to be held in Harmony, North Carolina in September.

Mark, owner of the family run Kirby's Flooring in Wasaga Beach and Apopka Florida, has been water-skiing competitively for over 30 years, competing in Regional, Provincial and National events, but has never had the opportunity to represent Canada, until now.
Senior water-skiing competitions are part of the Pan American Games, where skilled water-skiers from the Americas compete in various disciplines such as slalom, tricks, and jumping. The athletes who compete in the senior water-skiing competitions at the Pan American Games are those who have qualified through their respective national governing bodies and have met the eligibility criteria set by PASO. These athletes are generally among the top performers in water-skiing in their countries and have earned the right to represent their nations at the Pan American Games through a combination of skill, performance, and qualification procedures established by PASO and the relevant international sports federations.
In the competitive sport of water-skiing, an individual is pulled behind a boat over a body of water, skimming the surface on two skis or one ski, manoeuvring through a course of buoys, on a distanced and timed course. The skier must have adequate upper and lower body strength, muscular endurance, and good balance.
We congratulate Mark on this great opportunity and wish him all the best of luck at these international competitions. We look forward to sharing stories about his adventures when he returns in late September.
