Connections

Dear Members of the Bryan College Station Chamber of Commerce,
As my year as board chair concludes, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated staff, volunteers, fellow board members, and the remarkable businesses that make up our chamber’s membership. Your unwavering support and hard work have contributed to an exceptional year filled with remarkable achievements. Our events, such as the monthly Business After Hours, the Economic Outlook Conference, Lobsterfest, Founders Night, and many more, have seen record attendance, a testament to the vibrant and engaged community we have fostered together. Thank you for your commitment to making this year truly outstanding.
I would also like to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for Jason Cornelius, whose exceptional leadership as board chair last year laid the foundation for our continued success. Jason’s efforts in community outreach and his instrumental role in integrating the Young Professionals of Aggieland under the chamber’s banner have been pivotal in bringing in the next generation of chamber members. His vision and dedication have set us on a path toward growth and inclusivity. As we transition into the new year, I am filled with enthusiasm as Karla Castillo takes over as board chair. Karla brings with her years of experience in communications and media, and we are all excited to see where she will lead the chamber in the coming year.
Looking ahead, the future of the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce is bright and promising. We are embarking on an ambitious building project that will serve as the living room of our business community for the foreseeable future. As our community continues to grow, we are thrilled to grow alongside it, providing a space that fosters collaboration, innovation, and prosperity. I am confident that this new chapter in our journey will strengthen our bond as a business community and elevate the chamber to new heights.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Glen Brewer, President and CEO of the Chamber. Working alongside Glen has been a true pleasure. His leadership, wisdom, and dedication have been invaluable, and I have had a lot of fun and learned a great deal from him.
Thank you all for an incredible year. Together, we have achieved so much, and I am excited about the future we will build together.

I am a news anchor and the morning executive producer at KBTX, where I deliver and oversee the news content we air weekdays from 4:30 to 7 a.m.
I initially moved to Bryan for work after college, thinking it would be a short two-year stay. Fast forward almost 20 years, and this place has truly become home for my husband Mike, our son Kyle, and me. Two questions I often get asked are about my early wake-up time—I set my alarm for 1:45 a.m. during the week—and my fluency in Spanish, which is my first language. A day at work
The Chamber staff and volunteers do amazing work for our local businesses. As chair, my goal is to spotlight their efforts and the impactful results that may sometimes go unnoticed. I believe there’s still a lot for people to learn about the Chamber’s value.
We have some incredible marketing experts on our board, and I’m eager to collaborate with them on promoting all the great work the Chamber does. Keep an eye out for more stories on social media and online soon! Through this storytelling, I also aim to recruit more members. I want everyone to know and trust that the Chamber is here for them and encourage them to get involved.
The title of this publication, Connections, perfectly encapsulates a powerful aspect of the Chamber. The staff and volunteers are masters at connecting people and helping them grow. The buildings throughout our community would mean nothing without the business owners who bring them to life. While you may not connect with every one of our 1,600+ members, the shared goal is the same: success for our businesses.
The Chamber offers hundreds of opportunities each year for people to connect with mentors, supporters, and even lawmakers at the state and federal levels. These relationships, fostered through legislative trips, help secure the resources our area needs to continue thriving. In a world that grows more digital by the day, the Chamber remains committed to bringing people together for the benefit of our entire community.
This is a tough one because all the Chamber events are outstanding. However, the Ag Breakfast is my favorite. I was born and raised in California’s Central Valley, surrounded by dairies, vineyards, orchards, and vegetable fields. Growing up, I understood the significance of the agriculture industry for the economy. Plus, I love food!
The Ag Breakfast is such a special event. It brings our community together to celebrate and give thanks for the people who keep this industry thriving here at home. If you’ve never attended, I highly recommend making plans to join us—you won’t regret it.
It’s both humbling and exciting to serve as the Chamber board chair. When you look at the names of those who have held this position before, you see a remarkable list of community leaders.
I’m excited to carry on that legacy and continue working with talented individuals for the betterment of our community.
