This year’s theme is of special significance for me personally, as it marks my final Golden Bell event as president of Bellarmine College Preparatory. As I reflect upon the past decade during which I have had the privilege of serving this community, I am filled with wonderful memories of an overwhelming sense of goodness that is manifest through the tireless efforts of so many who help us in this important apostolate of Jesuit secondary education.

Your presence here this evening, and your active participation as an auction bidder, is greatly appreciated as together we meet the continuing challenge of providing tuition assistance to qualified students who have demonstrated financial need.

Proceeds from tonight’s event will benefit our Direct Financial Aid Fund, which is essential in our ability to meet this year’s financial aid budget of $4.1 million in support of nearly 25 percent of our students receiving tuition assistance.

The fulfillment of our mission can only be achieved by a true partnership among the Jesuit Community, our faculty and staff, and each of you whose resources we are so reliant upon to provide an unparalleled educational experience – academically, spiritually, and co-curricular. Together we are making an investment each and every day that will result in returns beyond our expectations, and that will be transformative in the lives of our students.

I am so grateful for the continued support by members of our Board of Regents and Board of Trustees, who have embraced this cause fully and have taken the Golden Bell event under their collective wing. I would like to particularly acknowledge Marc Rebboah ’77, chair of our Trustees; and Matt Medeiros, chair of our Regents; for their leadership.

My appreciation also extends to the many companies and individuals for their support through underwriting, as well as all who have generously donated such unique items for our online, silent, and live auctions.

Auction Information New Expedited Check-In Process

If you purchased your table or seats online, you were asked to submit a cell phone number for you and your guests, which would be used for the mobile bidding pre-registration and allow you to bypass the registration area completely. Our staff made every attempt to collect a cell phone number for all ticket purchasers (and their guests) and we’ll be assigning one cell number per bidder number.

If you DO NOT receive a text message on your smartphone by midnight, March 5th, welcoming you to the mobile bidding process and offering a preview for the silent auction items (bidder and table numbers will be made available upon logging in), you will need to stop at the registration area and register your mobile phone, at which point you’ll receive your table number.

All catalogs will be placed directly on the tables and your bidder number is located on the catalog’s backside.

Check-Out Process

All silent auction tables close at 8:30 pm; however, check-out will open at 9:30 pm. The check-out area will be located inside one of the classrooms of the Lokey Academic Center.

If you purchased your table or seats online, you were given the option of keeping the card number on file for the event. If we have your credit card information, your silent auction item receipt will be delivered to your table by 9:30 pm. If we do not have your credit card information on file, you will need to come to check-out and pick up a printed receipt, in order to pick up your items from the tables.

Note that all certificates (vacation homes, dinners, sporting events, etc.) may be picked up at check-out.

Silent Auction / Donations

Live Auction

The use of GiveSmart’s mobile bidding technology will be used for the silent auction and allow you to preview the items pre-event, as well as continue bidding while you enjoy your dinner. All Silent Auction tables close at 8:30 pm. Donations up to $2,000 may be entered on your smartphone, but for larger amounts please use the envelopes provided on the dining tables.

All winning bids from the Live Auction, which begins at 9:02 pm, will be identified by our Auctioneer and will not go through the mobile bidding process. *Live Auction purchases & envelope donations will be tallied through the close of the event and may not be reflected on your printed receipt.

Following the conclusion of the event, all winning bid/sale amounts will be verified and your credit card will be charged by March 10th, at which point updated receipts will be emailed to participants. **To make payment and/or item pick-up arrangements, please contact Brian Christensen at 408-5379210.

Supporting Bellarmine’s Direct Financial Aid Fund At the 2007 Golden Bell Auction, our Last Person Standing raised an unprecedented $653,000 for Direct Financial Aid. What is even more impressive is the fact that through this generosity Bellarmine impacted the lives of hundreds of deserving students!

The belief in education for every qualified student is rooted in the 481-year Jesuit tradition, but is only made possible through the support of many.

In 2015, our mission remains the same, yet the need continues to increase. Our Middle Class families are struggling to find the resources to make the Bellarmine experience possible for their sons.

In many cases, the award needed to make the difference may only be $1,000, $2,000 or $5,000.

The school is proud that 383 students will share nearly $4 million in financial aid funds this year. They have earned this opportunity through hard work and sacrifice.

You’ll be cas ng or trolling for Salmon, Halibut, Ling‐ cod or Rockfish, as Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay Canyon are the West Coast’s premier fish feeding grounds. The targeted species will depend on seasonal availability and the party’s preference.
