Announcing ‘Palm Springs Speaks’ season two speaker line-up

icking-off season two with love and laughter, Palm Springs Speaks: A Speaker Series presented actors, comedians and authors Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman discussing their new book “The Greatest Love Story Ever Told: An Oral History.” Just before Mullally and Offerman took the stage, the planning committee announced the rest of the season lineup of speakers for season two: Transgender activist and TV Producer Janet Mock, Legendary Actress, activist and author Jane Fonda, and America’s leading authority on European Travel, Rick Steves. All events are scheduled at the Richards Center for the Arts, Palm Springs High School and will include a Pre-Event Meet and Greet Reception and seating package sold separately as well as book signings after the main events. There are
different seating levels and attendees can choose your seat from a seating map; tickets start at $30 and every ticket includes a book. Janet Mock, who will appear on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 7:30 p.m., is a New York Times bestselling author of two memoirs, “Redefining Realness” (2014) and “Surpassing Certainty” (2017). She is the host of the conversation series, “Never Before,” a writer, director and producer on Ryan Murphy’s FX series “Pose,” and a feminist tackling stigma through storytelling. Jane Fonda will appear on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. She is a legendary and award winning actress, author, activist and fitness fanatic. She has experienced a life of highs and lows and sometimes controver-
sy, and yet has overcome to become an inspiration to many. Rick Steves will appear on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. Steves is an American travel writer, author, activist and public television and radio personality. He is known as America’s leading authority on European travel. Other speakers and bonus events may be added to the schedule and announced at a later time. Celebrate ‘La Gran Fiesta’ at The Living Desert The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens invites everyone to join the big party at its annual La Gran Fiesta on Saturday, October 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The celebration of Hispanic culture includes musical entertainment from mariachi groups
to youth folklorico dancers, special activities, and arts and crafts. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a treasure hunt throughout the park and redeem their completed map for a free carousel ride. As a special gift, the first 1,000 guests will receive a pep-
per plant cultivated and grown at The Living Desert (one per person while supplies last). In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month (now through October 15) the zoo is offering one free child admission for every paid adult on Saturdays and Sundays
