Palm Springs Air Museum Hosts 9th Annual Chili Cook-off and Car Rally

he 9th Annual Chili CookOff & Car Rally at the Palm Springs Air Museum on Saturday, Oct. 29, offers Halloween fun for the whole family. Free admission for children 12 and under who wear costumes with paying adult – no masks. You will be excited by the different kinds of cars inside and out. You will also be thrilled as you get up close to dozens of vintage WWII, Korean and Vietnam era aircraft. Give your taste buds a work out by tasting the different types of homemade chili cooked by museum docents, volunteers and staff. Visitors get to vote for their favorite cars and chili by category. In addition to the

chili made by the docents and staff, several restaurants are participating: Las Casuelas Terraza, Frankinbun, Gourmet Sausages, and Kaiser Grille will compete for best chili as judged by celebrity judges. Car Show is included with museum admission which ranges from $9.50 - $16.50, with a special family rate of $36 for 1 or 2 adults and 3 children age 12 and under; and $46 for 1 or 2 adults and 3 children ages 13 to 17. Car rally hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Car voting ends at 2 p.m. with trophy presentation at 2:30 p.m. Chili Tasting starts at 11 a.m. and lasts until 2:30 p.m. or whenever the chili is gone! Chili tastes are

just $1 per tasting or six tastes for $5, after paying admission to the Museum. Voting ends at 2:30 p.m. There will also be a raffle. All funds raised from the Tastings benefit the Palm Springs Air Museum Volunteer Fund. Raffle items include a sharktoothed bicycle courtesy of Palm Springs Cyclery; Stan Stokes paintings, hotel and restaurant package courtesy of Agua Caliente Resort & Spa. Also from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. don’t miss your chance to sit inside the cockpit of a vintage warbird. The open cockpit is the P-40 Warhawk, inside an air conditioned hangar. Please remember to

wear comfortable clothing and rubber soled shoes. Palm Springs Air Museum is an educational non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and honor veterans while educating future generations. One of the largest collections of flying WWII aircraft, 9,200 volume library, flight simulators and tours through a flyable B-17 are housed in 65,000 square feet of climate controlled space.
