Why should my child study at the British Council?
About us
We aim for every child to:
The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We build engagement and trust between people of different cultures through the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
• Improve their English: Our courses progressively develop confidence in reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Our courses are designed to stimulate and motivate students through enjoyable activities. We aim for every child to communicate clearly, confidently and accurately in English. • Develop social skills: Lessons include group and pair work to develop teamwork, co-operation and other social skills necessary for later life. Teachers encourage learners to work effectively with others through games and role-plays and to contribute confidently to class discussions. • Learn in a safe, friendly and supportive environment: Your child’s welfare is our first concern. We have security guards to ensure the British Council is a safe and welcoming place. Classroom assistants are present in several classes to help the youngest children feel comfortable. If your child has any special needs (for example, asthma, allergies or a physical mobility disability) please let us know before the course starts.
Our purpose We build engagement and trust for the UK through the exchange of knowledge and ideas between people worldwide. Our vision The future for the UK in this crowded, dangerous, beautiful world depends on people of all cultures living and working together on foundations of education, mutual understanding, respect and trust. Vietnam is a key country in the British Council’s East Asia Region where our goal is to engage emerging leaders with the UK to tackle regional and global priorities in education, creativity and climate security, and to support positive social change.
• Enjoy English: We believe that learning only takes place when the child is relaxed in a comfortable learning environment. Teachers provide carefully planned tasks and fun activities. Learners also have opportunities to participate in British Council events like art competitions and story-telling.

• Use the best materials: We select the best English Foreign Language text books. Engaging illustrated reading books are used in many courses to develop language skills and encourage good reading habits. Our ‘Young Learner Cupboard’ is stocked with the most up to date children’s literature from the UK and many children enjoy borrowing these books in the breaks.
