Q: Do pants need to be from a uniform supplier with a Baylor logo on them?
A: No, pants may be from any store and do not have to be branded.

Q: What kind of tie and belt is required?
A: Baylor students can wear any belt or tie/bowtie.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: We do not offer returns. Therefore, please make sure that the items fit your child before purchasing. If for some reason you need to bring them back, we offer $5 in Baylor Bucks for each item accepted. See below for Baylor Bucks information.

A: Baylor Bucks are credits we provide toward future purchases at the Red Raider Resale.

A: Our store is located in the Parry Center. It is adjacent to the tennis courts. Red Raider Resale will be clearly marked!
Q: Will I be able to purchase everything I need from Red Raider Resale?

The Middle School curriculum requires iPads to enhance the classroom experience and introduce students to the responsible use of technology. The most current generation of the iPad (tenth at the time of writing) is required, and the introductory level device (Wi-Fi iPad with 128Gb storage) is sufficient. More expensive iPad models (e.g., iPad Pro and iPad Air) are not needed to complete work successfully. iPads should not have cellular data, since that prohibits the school from applying privacy and security protections that are required while on campus.
The school encourages parents and guardians to discuss the appropriate use of electronic devices with their students, as well as implementing software-based parental controls. At a minimum, Apple parental controls should be enabled; more thorough controls are available through third party providers if desired.
Barks Hall is a phone-free zone. Middle school students are not allowed to use their cell phones or other non-school related devices, including smartwatches, during the academic day. We expect students to be busy with learning, making friends, and exploring new horizons. Please do not call or text your children during the school day as this distracts from their learning.
Cell phones must be turned off during the academic day and stored in students’ lockers or backpacks. Phones used at

In the event that a student’s iPad is lost or damaged, the Baylor School Technology Team has loaner devices available for up to two weeks until the device is replaced or repaired. Please note that these loaner devices are not available in the event that a student forgets to bring their device to school.
Further information about iPad safety can be found in myBaylor, and the school recommends the resources at StaySafeOnline. org for learning about cybersecurity and privacy protections. The primer Raising Digital Citizens (www.staysafeonline.org/ articles/raising-digital-citizens) is a good place to start. If you have any additional questions about student technology, please contact Dr. Dave Robinson, Chief Information Officer at cio@baylorschool.org.
unauthorized times will be collected and returned to the student by the end of the day, and two infractions will be assigned. Smartwatches may be collected by teachers at any time during the day should they be a distraction to the class environment or during testing situations. Please note that students may use the telephones located in Barks Hall and the Field House should the need arise, and parents are welcome to call the Middle School office to send a message to their child.
• Classes begin at 8:40 a.m. (8:00 a.m. on half-days).
• Middle School students are dropped off in front of Barks Hall.
• On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, students can receive academic assistance from their teachers beginning at 8:00 a.m.
• Students may arrive on campus as early as 7:00 a.m.
• Middle School classes end at 3:10 p.m.
• After school activities begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. and end between 4:30 and 5:15 p.m., depending on the activity. In August, the supervisor or coach of your child’s after school activity will share specific pick-up times and locations.
We believe that the benefits of competitive athletics and other extracurricular activities are fundamental to a child’s total education. Therefore, we require all students in grade 6 through 8 to participate in a Baylor after school activity each seasons. If you have questions or concerns about this requirement, please contact Emmie Treadwell.

Regular class attendance is an essential part of a Baylor education and a key factor in academic success. Therefore, the school will closely monitor student attendance. Please keep in mind that while Baylor recognizes that students might have occasional absences due to illness or family emergencies, any absences beyond 12 for a year-long class and six for a semester-long class will require judgment by the Middle School Head for continued enrollment or schedule modification for the student.
WHO DO I CONTACT ABOUT MEDICAL ABSENCES?
Sam Bankston at (423) 757-2636 or sbankston@baylorschool.org
WHAT DO I DO IF MY CHILD IS SICK AND WILL MISS SCHOOL?
To keep our school environment healthy, we ask that you keep your child home if they have a fever or vomiting in the last 24 hours. If your child must miss school or arrive late for any reason, please contact the Middle School Office each day the child will be absent before the start of classes at 8:40 a.m.
(Sam Bankston at (423) 757-2636 or sbankston@baylorschool.org)
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD FEELS ILL DURING THE SCHOOL DAY?
Your child should speak to an adult who will direct them to the Health Center. If a student needs to go home due to illness, the Health Center will talk with you and the student will sign out in the Health Center. Students should not communicate with their parents first.
WHAT DO I DO IF MY CHILD NEEDS TO MISS PART OF A DAY FOR A MEDICAL APPOINTMENT?
Call or email Sam Bankston before your child needs to leave campus. Sign your child out through the Middle School Office. A doctor’s note should be turned in after the appointment for readmission that day.

MIDDLE SCHOOL HEAD
Emmie Treadwell (423) 757-2636 etreadwell@baylorschool.org
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SCHEDULE A MEDICAL APPOINTMENT FOR MY CHILD?
After classes end for the day is the best time to schedule appointments. Given the choice between missing classes or missing an after school roll, students should not miss class. If you need to schedule a regularly occurring appointment during the school day, please use the schedule on myBaylor to plan ahead. Please be mindful that your child does not miss the same subject repeatedly.
HOW DO I REQUEST AN EXCUSED ABSENCE FOR REASONS OTHER THAN ILLNESS?
Contact Sam Bankston who will coordinate with the Middle School Dean. Requests should be made a minimum of one week prior to the requested absence dates. Permission will be granted only for extraordinary circumstances and, if granted, will count towards the maximum number of allowable absences noted above. Students who miss school without prior permission should expect the absence to be unexcused.
We ask families to pay close attention to break dates, to plan travel far ahead, and to live within the published dates. Any requests must also be directed to the Middle School Dean well before the break begins; however, students should expect that requests for adding additional time to school breaks will result in the assigning of a Make-Up Study except for exceptional circumstances.
Students who miss any exam for any reason (other than illness) should expect to receive a zero on the exam.
