Watching our clients’ lives become easier and less stressful using the solutions we offer is what excites me and fuels me to keep going. My passion for teaching and helping others has transferred from my classroom to the homes of my clients. We set our clients up for success, and when I hear words like, “You’ve changed my life,” it makes me love what I do even more.

DESCRIBE RECENT CHANGES OR CHALLENGES YOU’VE EXPERIENCED.

As my children are almost finished with college and grad school, I’ve come to realize that no one is moving back home! I’ve been through all the phases from infancy to young adult with them.

Now, I’m experiencing a new phase I like to call “what to do with the kid’s things” now that they are gone? I approach each stage of life just as I approach each new client— excited and open to all possibilities. I can’t wait to use what I have learned to help others in this phase of life.

ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING PLANS YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE?

My team discovered the joy of traveling to organize last summer in Oklahoma and are thrilled that we got the opportunity to do it again this summer in Nashville. I’m so thankful for these fun opportunities to spread peace nationwide and see new places with my team, all while expanding our business. Also, we will be sharing our organizing expertise in a book that’s in the works for 2023. Stay tuned!

Our clients! A close second would be traveling and finding inspiration in architecture and different cultures, which stimulates our imagination.

One is our expansion from a modest office space to an 8,000-square-foot showroom, design center and receiving warehouse. It has been a challenge learning to evolve with the ever-changing furniture and transportation industry post COVID.

We are constantly seeking inspiration to peak our creativity in different aspects of design. Our new retail/creative space has been our primary focus. “When we started this business nine years ago, I was primarily building small outdoor kitchens and pergolas—lots of small jobs with one person wearing all of the hats,” says Nathan. “Today, we have five employees building milliondollar homes and managing a thriving swimming pool business. We have grown slowly and steadily through the years, all the while keeping our core values the same.”

“I began my construction career 19 years ago working for a custom residential builder in Destin, Florida,” Nathan says. “We built clients’ dream homes along 30A in South Walton with live concerts in a park, families riding bikes, shopping ... all just steps away from your porch. I remember thinking then that one day I want to build like this in Baton Rouge. We are currently making that happen in developments like Pointe-Marie where we are building custom and spec homes along with our own personal designs. Staycations are our passion and we are excited to be developing those here in Baton Rouge.”

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHANGE OR CHALLENGE YOU’VE EXPERIENCED?

I believe COVID-19 and other factors created the perfect storm. The adjustment from working in an office to working at home was challenging. People spent more time in their homes with family, which created a need for more space. Low interest rates and lack of inventory drove prices up, the law of supply and demand kicked in, activity increased in the marketplace, and Realtors had to get creative in this fast-paced market with new listings and rapid responses.

SHARE YOUR UPCOMING PLANS OR DREAM PROJECTS.

My personal passion projects include creating and publishing a cookbook of recipes from friends and family, training for and competing in the Senior Olympics in tennis, and mastering Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata on the piano. I have the sheet music, so that’s a start!

When we started, it was just myself selling real estate and staging my own listings. This evolved into some light renovations leading to

larger renovations. Half of our current business now is renovation and furnishings related.

We have been working with a client who purchased a large colonial style home in Old Goodwood. The renovation is almost complete and we are moving forward into the furnishing stage. We have all poured our hearts and souls into it (along with the owners) and cannot wait to see the end result of this exciting 3-year project.

There are always challenges in real estate— from market conditions to natural disasters. You have to be adaptable. I network with agents from all over the country to stay fresh. I got my real estate license before Facebook, then was here through Katrina and a few other hurricanes, a market crash, a great flood, and a pandemic! I’ve done my best to stay as informed as possible about the current conditions and try to anticipate problems before they arise.

ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING PLANS OR PROJECTS YOU CAN SHARE?

I’ve partnered with a builder to build some very contemporary condos between LSU and downtown that I’m really excited about. Hopefully we’ll see those in early 2023. I’ve also got some really neat commercial projects coming. My dream project would be to bring some Korean BBQ to Baton Rouge!

I am really excited about getting more of our customers back into the office for in-person visits, and participating in more community events. We missed some of that with COVID and are now seeing more of our customers again face to face. Those personal relationships are a gift to us.

WHAT MAKES YOUR COMPANY SPECIAL OR UNIQUE?

I received a vast amount of knowledge and experience from my father, who helped me worked in the field from laying concrete to framing houses. I started my own business in 1999 building starter homes and now, I build custom luxury homes in the million dollar price range.

WHAT IS YOUR COMPANY’S MISSION OR PHILOSOPHY?

My mission is to provide quality construction for high end homes in Baton Rouge that clients appreciate. I go out of my way to make sure my clients are completely satisfied with their dream homes.

WHAT MAKES YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT YOUR WORK?

I enjoy meeting clients during Sunday Open House and helping them make their dreams come to reality. I believe being personable makes them feel comfortable about the entire decision process, and it’s a big one!

DESCRIBE RECENT CHANGES OR CHALLENGES.

In the last two years, the COVID pandemic has created a challenge to estimate materials and labor due to back orders and delivery delays.

These obstacles have slowed down progress, deadlines are harder to meet, and have caused an increase in the price of homes.

ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING PLANS OR PROJECTS YOU CAN SHARE?

I am currently building on the most prestigious lots in The Settlement at Willow Grove, off Perkins Road, which back up to 10 acres of beautiful green space and fishing ponds. These three estate lots will be ready in spring/summer of 2023.

WHAT IS A CHALLENGE OR CHANGE YOU’VE EXPERIENCED?

I think the spiraling out of control during the pandemic in 2020 was probably the most challenging time I have experienced during my career. Sellers were apprehensive to allow showings because of the COVID outbreak. I had to be creative with showings on my listings by setting up virtual showings, zoom videos, etc. During this time, creativity as a realtor was key to being successful.

Part of that commitment is ensuring the constant communication that is often lacking in this industry.

ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS YOU CAN SHARE?

Planning has started for an exciting remodel of a kitchen and multiple bathrooms in a penthouse condo in downtown New Orleans. The space brings some new opportunites and challenges that will make it fun and interesting. Also, I have recently started on a large high-end office refurbishing. Working with a commercial firm to help make the space inviting, comfortable, and lived in has been rewarding.
