Makaton is an internationally recognised sign language, which enables everyone to be able to communicate and have a voice. Makaton consists of a signing and symbol communication system, and can be adapted to any workplace or environment (e.g librarian, police, health professional, teacher, lawyer, social worker or working with refugees or those with English as an additional language). This workshop will introduce you to the foundations of Makaton, and give you the opportunity to learn some of the core signs and symbols. Makaton is an invaluable skill and promotes the voice and rights of all children and adults. Level: Beginner.
Boomtown have offered Bath Spa University a major theatrical venue and the chance to create Boomtown’s first University: ‘Ivory Towers Academy’. Meet with professionals from Boomtown, The Invisible Circus and the SWCTN Fellowship programme for five days to devise and playtest how the venue might work. We will explore how the existing narratives and aesthetics of Boomtown and BSU’s variety of disciplines can be applied to creating a new satirical immersive theatre game venue. Suitable for staff and students interested in acting, drama, dance, performance, creative computing or event production.
