Skunk Programme

Page 1

Emma creates performances for diverse audiences working collaboratively across art forms. Her roles range from Director, Facilitator, Dramaturge and Writer. She has co-created productions for a range of award-winning independent theatre companies and artists. These include Pickled Image (Wolf Tales and Shop of Little Horrors) Opposable Thumbs Theatre (Big Boys Don't Cry) and Vic Llewelyn (The Castle Builder and A Little Death).

She has also directed in-house productions for The Tobacco Factory Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, Bristol Old Vic and The Wardrobe Theatre. This is her third production for Bath Spa University.

We have spent a month creating the world of nightmares. Strange characters in the shadows, a door with a mind of its own, a boy with a tail. Skunk incorporates design, lighting, sound, puppetry, choreography, music and performance to explore the central chatacte s uneasy dreams. The result is a strange theatrical world that we hope you enjoy.

Otto is a normal teenager with normal parents. They have the usual parental aspirations for Otto - Mum thinks Cambridge University, Dad thinks Arsenal Football Club. Life is the usual teenage combat zone.

Until one day, when Otto wakes up feeling pretty weird. Otto discovers, to that they have been inexplicably transformed into a skunk!

Inspired by Kafka's novella The Metamorphosis, Zawe Ashton's Skunk takes a surrea, dreamlike and hilarious look at the pressures and transformations that happen as teenagers grow up.

Do you smell the change that is coming?

Presented by Bath Spa Productions; this is a collaboration between graduating cting and Theatre, Festival and Event Production students, directed by Emma William

At Taking Flight we make bold, unusual theatre productions with Deaf, disabled and non-disabled pe r formers Our work tours Wales and beyond and we often find ourselves in out of the way places, as traditional theatre venues

Our vision is of a world where the stories told & the voices heard are genuinely reflective of the world we live in; where the theatre we make understands audiences of all backgrounds & invites and welcomes them in; where the field is level & everyone has equal access

Our mission is to smash down ba r riers to participating in theatre & to constantly push the boundaries of creative access. It is to drive forward equal representation of Deaf & disabled people in theatre by leveling the stage. It is to alter the arts landscape in Wales & beyond by challenging others to think more inclusively.
