Co-op Board Election This year’s Basics Co-op Board of Directors election takes place from Sunday, April 30th through Saturday, May 6th. Five candidates (pictured, center) are running for three seats. Those elected will serve from June 2017-May 2019.

Candidates were asked three questions to describe their qualifications and motivations for serving on the Co-op’s board; their answers are listed on p. 2-4.

The main responsibility of the Basics Board is to establish policies to advance the mission and goals of the Co-op. They are also tasked with long-term financial planning, approval of any major plans or commitments, and supervision of the general manager. The Board meets for approximately 2 hours every other month to carry out these duties. ***** 2 ways to vote: in-store, or online at basicshealth.com *****

To Vote For Board: 1. You must be a current Basics Co-op Owner. This means fully vested, or up to date on installments. 2. You must be the Co-op Owner named on the account. If you are not sure whether you are the owner of the account, you can ask at the Customer Service or call (608)754-3925. 3. Your ballot must be submitted by 8pm Saturday, May 6, 2017.

Gluten & Dairy Free Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake Prep • •

Ingredients • • • • • • • •

MI-DEL gluten free graham cracker crust 32 oz Kite Hill dairy free cream cheese 1 cup sugar or sweetener of choice 1 can organic pumpkin 1 Tbsp pumpkin pie spice 1 tsp vanilla 4 eggs 1 1/2 Tbsp honey & 1/2 cup pecans (optional topping)

Heat oven to 325 Beat cream cheese and sweetener in large bowl with mixer until blended (the Kite Hill cream cheese substitute blends easily) Add pumpkin, pie spice and vanilla Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each just until blended Pour over crust Bake 1 hour 20 min. to 1 hour 30 min. until center is almost set Refrigerate 4 hours

Honey pecan topping: Cook honey and pecans on medium-high heat 5 min. or just until honey is foamy and mixture is heated through. Spread onto baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray and cool completely. Top cheesecake with glazed nuts before serving.
