INTERWOVEN BASED SYSTEM RESEARCH Interwoven Based System Research is part of the “Emergent Technologies and Design” programme thesis which was carried out at the Architectural Association School. TEAM Bárbara Barreda José Manuel Berg Sanjeev Shankar
The design strategy explores the potential of a “woven� wood system, without assemblies and based on friction. The argument is that simplicity in the manufacture of a wicker basket can be abstracted and applied to the architecture using strips of wood. This logic prepares a woven pattern on the floor which is deformed and fixed at the ends to maintain its shape. Additionally, a manufacturing logic is sought where stiffness in bending wood, curvature and friction of the system are considered.
